    Mark: Thank you for this excellent tutorial. There are tons of videos on TH-cam where people show how to pack for a trip, but the host illustrates packing a ton of cheap tshirts, shorts, and one pair of trainers. You appear to be the only video where a detailed conversation/illustration of packing quality clothes/accessories takes place (no rolling of clothes or packing cubes). Despite watching the video several times, it is amazing how you were able to pack such an extensive ensemble in one bag in an organized fashion. I found it amazing. I hope you use AirTags or other tracking devices for your checked bag as the value of your bag (if misplaced) would be extremely high.

    Very different from the way I pack, but I liked the shoes in the corner idea. Finding the right balance between volume and weight is key. I have a huge suitcase I rarely ever use because at “full” it’s overweight. But if I travel with a hat or 2, there’s room to pack them without them getting crushed.

    These are not the Rimowas I expected from this man. I figured silver Classic with a brown leather handle or at most the Original Twist brown model, and definitely didn't expect all stickered out.
    Also, as a 13.5 UK Extra Extra Wide man (bespoke by necessity), I am very jealous of your ability to get 4 pairs in a suitcase.

      @@markchodotcom I have my shoes made by Alexandru Maftei. At a second fitting his wife put my foot back on the pressure sensitive foot tracing pad to double check something, and we had a laugh when my foot couldn't fit on it without going diagonal.
      I use a 28" Halliburton Geo 3.0 (i.e. the one year they went back to made in USA) that I got 50% off. It's ok, and looks good, but the quality is nowhere near the 26" and 24" 1960s and 1970s ones I got from my father and grandfather, but sadly at my shoe size those can barely fit a week.

    Hi Mark. Thanks for this. I'm always a bit nervous I'll damage the structure of the jacket, particularly the wadding/padding of the shoulder. Would you happily pack all your jackets in this manner or are there some you would feel too special or delicate to be packed in a case?

    • @TheArmourytv
      @TheArmourytv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Alec, sorry for the late reply but Mark says hes never had an issue with damaging his jacket when he packed them in this way. I guess they main thing is to unpack the garments as soon as possible after you get into the hotel and have them rest on a hanger!

    I used to travel a lot, nowadays just shorter trips but internationally. Was fun and interesting to see how you pack, I use for lots of things the KonMari Method especially for shirts, ts, boxers and sock, chinos. Normally i just bring one to two jackets and do it the same way you did for the extra one. The other I just wear. Thanks for sharing, cheers.

  • @fabricateurialist
    @fabricateurialist 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    you could have fitted so much more in that suitcase, and I mean this in the most sincere/constructive way
    1. trousers, you roll and don't fold them, which almost entirely eliminates ironing or pressing them upon arrival, let alone giving them time to hang
    2. jacket, folding it inside out, because if something moves or spills (and yes, my Tumi toiletry pouch has done that) it only affects the lining
    3. shoes, always on the bottom side where the wheels are because they are the heaviest item that will push down everything else if stacked on top - thus leading to more wrinkles
    just did a three week trip on a carryon, one Packaway, one blazer, 4 trousers, 5 tops/shirts, 2x knitwear, 2x shoes, intimates, and toiletries + travel outfit
    are you also going to be at Pitti ?
    cheers and safe travels

    • @gentlemenscholarsclub

      The lightweight travel trees are useful for regular shoes that may need more help to keep their shape but for boots and loafers, the voids they create are definitely useful to fill with socks. I've also put liquor bottles, sauce bottles, cologne, etc. inside boots--saves space and also protects the bottles.
