Hi. I have liked all of your videos, hence my Subscription. I only found this one, because I was looking for FOV info. Having watched it, I'd like to say that my experience with the patch antenna has been very different. I have not lost signal - ever. With my Inspire 2 directly above, a km out to sea, me hiding behind an object so I am not in shot. I have not consciously 'aimed' the patch at the UAV, especially when chatting to the client at the same time. This is not a later implementation, as I got my Cendence/Crystal Sky as soon as they were available. You have made me want to formally test it. 2 days ago I was filming an approach to a wharf from 600M out to sea, where we were re-enacting an evacuation scenario, and I had to hide behind a small building. I was actually facing away from the Inspire while hiding, and had no issues. The other day, I had a job where I flew about 1.2km away among big power lines between two radio masts. I expected some RF interference, but everything went perfectly.
Thx again. Since DJI never goes into the depth that u do explaining their products, it's fortunate for us that we have u. Keep it up as many of us need your input to understand and get the best out of our products.
When I tried the patch antenna for my first few flights I was not impressed with its performance so I had given up using it in favor of the omnidirectional antennae. This video has given me some new insights about the antenna that have almost convinced me it might perform better than the Omni antennae in direction-limited use. I say almost convinced because I would like to have seen how each of the antennae perform with the drone in flight over the entire range of headings and distances. I may just have to take my rig out to the desert this weekend and give it a go - after I update the firmware on the patch antenna of course. Good topic MadRC.
Hi Mad RC, great video. On the latest firmware om both my Cendence and I2 but cant Seem to find the bitrate settings anymore? There's no custom option under HD.
Hi 👋BROTHER.... ... My dji inspire 2. ( 01.02.0100 ) Remote Controller (01.01.0010 ) App. ( 4.2.16) Dji Crystal sky ultra ( 02.06.06.00) please tell me how to get Dynamic Home point option in my Crystal sky ultra., as i am unable to see that option.
hi Mad rc nice informative video thanks. id like to know how the patch performs when obstacles like trees get in the way as the standard antenna seems to suffer pretty badly when any such objects obstruct direct line signal to the drone in my experience. Yes i can still see the drone but the branches are dense enough to block transmission signal with standard antennas.
You can look on something like things verse or other 3d printing places for local prices. If you in the U.K. I would ship one but internationally look at online printing
I have been using a secraft tray with my Cendence, much more stable neck strap and palm rest, but when using the secraft tray, the patch antenna is not usable. haven't figured out a solution to that yet.
Hi. I’ve just bought my I2 and am mad busy reading and watching everything I can to try and get up to speed on this amazing craft (still have my M2P). The purchase included a Cendence remote with the patch antenna and CS monitor. I noted your mention of the CS not currently being able to support 1080p. Having said that I see this is 12 months old and wonder if there has since been an update on the CS (there’s usually a lag). Many thanks. Peter
Ahh well, that’s life I guess. Thanks for replying. At the moment I’m trying to see if there’s any way to get a zoom lens to zoom using any buttons or wheels on the std controller being used as a slave to the Cendence as master. I can use a slider on the screen but it’s a little hit and miss so configuring one of the wheels to zoom in and out would be much better if I can figure out how. Thanks again, take care. Peter
Thanks for another informing lesson that no one else offers. The depth of your reviews are much welcomed. Do you find that when using the Cendence Controller with the 7.85' Crystal Sky along with the Patch Antenna do be quite heavy?
If you do not get the message that the Patch Antenna is connected after the FW update, 1) disconnect the antenna, 2) boot the Cendence, 3) turn Cendence off, 4) reattach the antenna and then reboot. I had to do this to get the message.
The benefits of 1080p transmission on short distance are obvious for TV broadcasters, but what the patch antenna can offer for typical long distance flight with 720p video transmission at average 4Mbsec bitrate? Will it allow for significantly better transmission range as compared with standard omni antennas?
It should, the tests at 1080P is to be able to show the difference but the reality is that will translate to the 720P mode as well but as with all things is will be location specific. It should give better range but these things are not linear.
Great video and thanks for going to all the trouble of testing so the rest of us don't have to ;) One pointer is your audio outside - a lot of wind buffering makes it tricky to hear you at times. Had a look at the bracket on Thingiverse and would like to buy one but I only see an option to download the files. I don't have a 3D printer - is it not possible to buy the printed item from somewhere? Keep up the great content!
thx for the quick disconnect link ! I'm a bit confused on the part about 1080 vs 720 for Android & iOS. I've used live feed via Android tablet numerous times in 1080 and no issue. Maybe I misunderstood the info on that . . . great video, thx for putting it together for your subscribers !!
Great info, mine didn't come with the patch so I'm considering buying it or one of the aftermarket antennas that connect right up to it. Do you have any experience with anything other than the DJI antennas? You put a lot of thought and info into this video, it was very helpful to me.
I recently started flying cell phone towers and on some of them I have terrible loss of signal. I've been using a p4p V1. Would one of these patch antennas improve that situation for me and is there one available for the p4p? Thank you!
It really pisses me off that 1080p mode doesn’t work with the Cendence. DJI are foolish not to put the development and performance of their own accessories before that of third party devices.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share this information. I’ve learned a ton from watching your videos. Thanks!
Your vids are always so thorough!! Appreciate it!!

Are you using Crystalsky, If not try changing your devices region settings to USA, I will fire mine up and Look.
@@MadRC Im using a oneplus 5T with a cendence RC, located in Denmark.
I have a feeling it’s only on IOS now.
I wonder if you can do a tutorial video on how to install modded a DJI Go on the CrystalSky. Your videos are very informative. Thanks!
Super helpful. I'll be updating mine today to check if it get's bricked. Thanks again!

On the crystal sky you still need the DJI GPS Accessory to be able to use this sadly.
Thank you so much Brother....
I need that bracket for the Patch Antenna
How can I get one or two
hi Mad rc
nice informative video thanks. id like to know how the patch performs when obstacles like trees get in the way as the standard antenna seems to suffer pretty badly when any such objects obstruct direct line signal to the drone in my experience. Yes i can still see the drone but the branches are dense enough to block transmission signal with standard antennas.
It should be better but it’s an interesting test, let me think and come up with something.
I can't seem to access Custom Channel Mode on IOS or Crystal Sky! Any ideas on why, or how to fix this? I'm based in the UK.
Is there an online 3-D print service for the bracket you made?
You can look on something like things verse or other 3d printing places for local prices.
If you in the U.K. I would ship one but internationally look at online printing
@@MadRC I am in the UK. I have emailed you accordingly.
I wonder what the extra power draw is on the Cendence with the patch, I think you would need extra batteries definitely.
Fast forward to 2021 - In August, I received the cendence remote and the patch antenna was included. 👍
How do I buy the quick release bracket??
I like you explanation of the tools, How to use and what is the diffrent between that. Thank you!
Thanks

Can you put the patch antenna on the regular i2 controller ?
It looks like Cendence works well with Phantom 4Pro well too. Can you try this and report if it allow 1080/50P transmission with P4Pro?

Sadly no nothing has changed on this and tbh i'm not expecting it to now sadly. Its performance was not quite there.

Thank you for this video. Turns out I've been using the patch all wrong. Really appreciate it.
Excellent post! Does the 1080p live feed still work if your using dual operator master and slave controls?
Great video and information. I have the original remote and am thinking on getting the 4Hawks SR patch antenna.
Thanks
Does the CrystalSky still not support 1080p? Just bought two of them so a bit disappointing to hear if its not supported
Sadly no. It was removed some time back.
Thanks for another informing lesson that no one else offers. The depth of your reviews are much welcomed.
Do you find that when using the Cendence Controller with the 7.85' Crystal Sky along with the Patch Antenna do be quite heavy?
It is heavy and it don't balance well but im used to it now tbh.
How can I buy one of the patch quick release ?
Roger Charles Photography hi thanks for reminding me I forgot to put the link in here is the .stl on Thingivers

Only problem I dont have a 3D printer mate lol do you print and sell these as could really use one of them ?

Agreed. A "Dead Cat" over the microphone would have really helped.

No FOV info, as shown in your title. Did you only mean the FOV for the patch antenna? I was looking for the FOV video settings.
Yea.
Great info, mine didn't come with the patch so I'm considering buying it or one of the aftermarket antennas that connect right up to it. Do you have any experience with anything other than the DJI antennas? You put a lot of thought and info into this video, it was very helpful to me.
I don't sorry :)
Excellent video the info is presented well and very through which the norm for your videos
Thanks for the feedback .
Just a thought. Can you run 2 patch antennas in parallel? I used to run two small patch antennas on my p2 for years to gain better coverage
Probably no and actually you don't need to because its actually 2 antennas already, when you look inside there is one each side for each input.
I recently started flying cell phone towers and on some of them I have terrible loss of signal. I've been using a p4p V1. Would one of these patch antennas improve that situation for me and is there one available for the p4p? Thank you!
Check out 4Hawks for other patch antennas for DJI other models. It may help as it’s more directional.

Ty!
Maybe a Patreon promotion would generate enough money to purchase a decent broadcast microphone. Your presentations are great!
Great content! Thank you so much for your effort
Can you use this with the Mavic Pro
No sorry its designed for the Cendence only
very informative video, but you should also have tried the 5GHz.
Also, the Mbps are mega BITS per second, not bytes :)
Yea that one gets me in the field, Im thinking one thing and saying something else.
Does the patch use more battery life?
Not that I have noticed.
Thanks for the info, solid!
Very helpful mate - thanks for this!

I think you mean Crysatalsky as it does with the Cendence but yes its a shame unfortunately.
Yes, that's what I meant. Thanks for the correction.
