My dad used to go see touge drifts in osaka in the 90's. He talked about how exilirating it was seeing many cars drift infront of him at high speeds. I'm very jealous and would love to go see some touge drift scenes.
i drove through here in a rental and was like as if i actually found this legendary spot and starting squeeling like a girl with excitement haha, i then chased an sti all the way up to toyonaka and at the end he said good job keeping up and he bough me a canned coffee haha such a goodnight
I’ve never (successfully) drifted myself and I’m not really well versed in the jdm scene but this video is just nice tbh. Makes me think of a big brother sneaking me out to do things we absolutely should not have been doing, or what I would be up to in a different, more peaceful life.
It's the quality of the camera. It adds a homey feel to it. It makes it feel like you're throwing on a tap you found in the VHS collection, and it just so happens to be a drift video.
My entire adolescence replaying the "Osaka Touge Drift" video... a video that influenced me to nowadays drift, to love the PS13's and to keep searching untill now why those SR20 sound that good. Now, many many years later here it is an upload of a 23 min raw clip of that lovely video, unbelievable, thank you so much!!!
Can very much relate to this comment. I think a lot of us younger guys in the S-chassis community look up to these videos. Its videos like this one and the original one posted 11yrs ago that inspired me into drifting and building cars!
The PS13 is a car in its own class. The timeless, yet very vapid design makes it a favorite of mine. The PS13 is a piece of art; humble, yet very good looks combined with a modern powertrain, good brakes, superb suspension geometry and rather comfortable and spacious interior for its class is all i'm asking for in a sports car and they managed to publish it already 32 years ago. It's no surprise that the PS13 was sold with a market campaign called "Artforce Silvia". Such is the magic of this very car. I was in search of one when i first saw it in initial d when i was 15 and now i can happily years later say, i own one with an SR20DET.
By the way the sound that these SR20s are producing is from a greddy T6 manifold that had unequal length headers. Super popular back then not many of them going around anymore since they don’t produce it. But it makes an SR sounds mean as fuck.
The one thing I remember from my brief time driving Japanese touge roads is how huge the gutters on the side are. If you dip a wheel in there, you're towing your car home.

Incredible. I can only imagine the adrenaline rush, I've been sliding on a mountain with a group once before drove 3 hours there in the rain. Scariest thing I've ever done also one of the most memorable.
Why am i born too late for everything?! I was a teenager when the whole tuning scene exploded in the 2000s so i had no license and none of my friends either. And when we finally got our licenses the whole thing was already over. BUT i have a feeling it might make a return soon.
Awesome. I lived in Iwakuni, JA for 4 years and we used to race on 186 at the Spa Rakan just south of Hiroshima. Bikes race all day, cars drift at night.
So cool seeing where all the cars park and how many are actually there. Something about Japanese style is so mesmerizing compared to the regular American foot down style
Seen this video a few years ago. Until than I wasn't really interested in cars even though my dad has his own mechanic shop but after seeing this I decided that I'm going to help my dad however I can and that one day I am going to buy one of the S chassis.
In the 90s I never even knew of anything called drifting. All I knew was that throwing my R32 GTST coupe sideways around corners was fun. One great thing about New Zealand is that all the JDM cars that have become iconic were cheap and plentiful back then.

I love the mounted camera. I don't like it when people have camera on their heads or the passenger holding the camera. This is so much more satisfying. You can see the car shaking or swiveling side to side. The field of view is also special.
It 2:27am your at a gas station not to far from the mountain but quite a distance,as walk outside with your drink and snacks you see a Jzx 100,86,and a rx-7 drive by,you hop in your s14 to head to mountain as you begin to get closer you can hear tires sketchy and car speed around turns, you catch up to three cars earlier they pull over to wait for a opportunity to hop in the line, just before you know a group of slide pass you, before you put your car in gear you take one last look at your phone it 3am the night has just begun.
