Never heard of these things while it was active. Never knew there was a Sega Master System or Saturn either until well into the PS2/PS3 era. If it wasn't for AVGN and emulation I probably have never known a lot of these old platforms existed.
It was ported over to the US as the Turbographix 16. It was directly competing in the same market as the SNES and the Sega Genesis so it didn't do too well over here.
Same even though i grew up in that era. Unless you seen a commercial or.a friend talked about it i would have never known. I did have a sega cd though. That was mind blowing at the time.

@@CykaBlyatAlex i also think it was to make them look less like video game systems before the crash (2600, intellevision etc), and more like a vcr or or cable box so they would be more appealing. Japan obviously didn't have the legal troubles that atari caused here in the states, so consoles stayed somewhat small (Famicom was TINY!)

Well that's actually a really cool special model of the PC engine called The core 2 grafx. Those are even rarer, and more sought after, and thus are sold for a much higher price.
You should get The Console by Evan Amos. It's a book that gives a brief history of every major console starting with Atari all the way to now. Including the more obscure ones like the WonderSwan and this. As a console fanatic, it's one of my favorite books of all time
