I became a hardcore fan of the franchise literally a few years later with Wild World so all that the bastard did was give my brothers more game time.
When a game gives me shit for playing it, that's when I stop. Amusingly enough, the only two games that have pulled that off have been Animal Crossing and *_Spec Ops: The Line._* Animal Crossing for this bullshit, and Spec Ops for its obvious and pretentious (and failed) guilt-tripping.

@@raphaelnej8387 I'm pretty sure he was included because the game didn't autosave and outright resetting could potentially corrupt the data resulting in you having to start entirely from scratch. They just wanted a comedic sort of way to warn the player about these things.
I love the text sound for this version of Animal Crossing so much, because you can basically UNDERSTAND them. Most of the time, you can literally hear them saying the words they're saying in text - - - that's because they're basically saying it. It isn't just gibberish - - - their text sound is them saying every letter individually, so sometimes it's pretty intelligible. Definitely, but I think confirmation bias has a bit to do with it too. Even though they're saying the letters, it still sounds like a foreign language without the text alongside it.
