Cal-Pac Chastened in Court

A recent legal development is encouraging for those local churches that have been entrapped so as to be liquidated by the sclerotic California-Pacific Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. I go through a couple of documents to look at what the particular issues are.

FYI... Promissory estoppel is a contract law doctrine that allows a plaintiff to recover damages, despite no actual contract, when the defendant made a promise that the plaintiff detrimentally relied upon, and the plaintiff’s reliance on that promise was reasonable.
