      Mike, thanks for another awesome video. Quick unrelated question, I just got double bass pedals, not that I'm great with single pedal yet, but what do you recommend for me to improve on them? Any rudiments, courses or books you recommend? This could possibly also go into your list of future videos :-)

      I think this is actually a really good groove for drummers who moving beyond the basic rock/pop grooves.
      There's very light syncopation on that snare in the first bar, so you gain some limb independence.
      You can work on your left foot with the high hat pattern... but it's not too crazy because your left foot is stepping down on the 4, 6, and 8, pretty natural.
      You can work on your dynamic independence with the ghost notes
      I learned this groove by following the steps in this video exactly. It was really awkward the first few hrs... but now I'm styling on this groove, and I couldn't be happier. Thank you, Mike!!

    Thanx Mike. I'm behind a kit again after a lengthy hiatus. Your musical teaching style helped the rhythm penny to drop in an instant for this groove. You've saved me a lot of time, I suspect. Cheers mate and all the best.

      Ha yeah, I think it’s passed into the general drum consciousness for jamming over the years!

    Hint:
    Make sure your hi hat does not mimic the ghost notes, since it will make the groove sound disjointed.
    So be sure to go slow to make sure your snare lands in between the hi hats.

    what does the double hi hat mean there is one on top and bottom

    • @MikeBarnesDrums
      @MikeBarnesDrums  ปีที่แล้ว

      Top one: hit the hi-hat with stick. Bottom one: close the hi-hat with your foot.
