The round metal structure was where the ventilation fan sat for shaft. The rack was for miners cap lights and the site across the road with the gate is not a mine it is an active Gas well.
Abandoned U.S Steel Robena Mine Hartley Shaft. That's only 4 miles from my house. The mine permanently closed in 1984. That particular portal I think may have been abandoned in the last 60s Early 70 s Robena Mine had multiple portals and fan shafts between Alicia in Monongahela ,Cumberland, Greene, Whiteley townships.

My great grandfather worked as a miner in Carmichaels, so it's possible that this is where he worked. My grandma was born in the 1940s there.

My fiance and I live about 2 minutes from this place i always wanted to check it out. I know exactly where that is.
