No no no, Mother, i'm not eating that. Nor the pickled corn or green beans. I'll take my coleslaw, corn and green beans the regular way. haha. Although now I know why i'm falling apart. My mother, aunt and grandmother always had a churn of something going. They were always mushing it with the churn handle that went down through the top and now I know why. And, I can remember my mother having sauerkraut with most meals. I've never tasted it but I think the next time i'm at my aunt's i'll give it a try. Maybe. ;)
@@JulieKeeperofMyHome I am glad that I could help, actually those Clay jugs are still in use. I have one in my root cellar too and I am using it every year.
@@dorfbieneamfeld5773 we have a small crock that sits on our counter. I do use that when I make large batches of sauerkraut. You are in Germany. Do you make schnitzel? I would love a good recipe for schnitzel, if you have one?
I did not have luck making my sauerkraut because I probably did not let it ferment to its potential. I also made Kambucha a few times after my third batch I stopped because I thought it tasted rancid. So I stopped all my fermentation projects. However, I am going to try the cabbage again following your instructions. You made me hungry my mouth water.
I love vinegary flavor , and love pickled foods you’d think I would love sauerkraut, but I can’t get beyond the smell to try it, I don’t think I ever have tried it, just decided I didn’t like it from the smell when I was young
@@JulieKeeperofMyHome, all right, I'm going to give it a try. I hope it's o.k. to rest my arms in between all that squeezing. My old arms would never do all that at once.

Made my 1st batch 3 weeks ago. I added caraway seeds and it's yummy!
Yay! Sauerkraut, absolutely love it

Thank you! This is a very simple recipe. I have know you can do this! 💖
I love sautkrkraut. How do I add other veggies to it? This is one of the best instruction videos I’ve seen. Nana in Texas
Thank you! Other veggies, like shredded carrots can be added in with the cabbage. Just massage them together like I show in the video. 😊

You need to try it! 😉😁
What about adding onion? And when would you add it? During the massage or as you pack the jar?
Definitely during the massage to pull out juices. 😊
Julie you didn't say what kind of salt. Does regular iodized table salt work?
Thank you for pointing this out! Yes. Just plain table salt or sea salt. Do not use kosher salt!

Lol! Resting is good! I love it when our granddaughter helps! 😉
