This is so crazy..this book, Bindle Punk Bruja and The Enigma of Room 622 were all in my free little library today! I didn’t even realize these were ARCs when I got them out. I’d heard of Babel but for some reason I thought it was an older book. So I’m looking them up and seeing they’re not even out yet! They all look so interesting, I don’t know where to start. Glad to see such a glowing review of one of them 😊

There are several videos out there by Book-Tubers being super excited about this book. According to Amazon it's not available until September. As great as pre-reviews are the hype can easily disappear for those that can't get a copy early. But a great video!! 👍🏻 😁
I beg to differ - the whole purpose of publishing sending early copies to reviewers is to raise hype levels in the months before release. I know myself and many others rely on early reviews to feel excitement over upcoming releases, and reviewers don’t tend to review it once then never mention it again. It’s a method of marketing that works for most 🤷🏻♀️

I read Babel on September 27 and it’s the best, the most beautiful, the most perfect and the most brilliant book I’ve ever read. I’m going to reread it andr write out parts on transkation, the origin of the words.
Babel sounds like something I'd be into. I'll be honest that I haven't read anything by the author yet but I was just unsure if The Poppy War was for me. If I were to read it I would be taking a chance, but this one does sound up my alleyway. And I get what you mean about the translation thing, because I studied anthropology and my current honours thesis is talking about monsters and the symbology of them in modern day stories, and it is part of the conversation for a few different things I've done. My favourite dark academia is If We Were Villains, and I do want to read These Violent Delights. There is also another one coming out that sounds absolutely up my alleyway called Sirens and Muses by Antonia Angress. It is actually coming out next month next month, and I cannot wait for it.

@@AFrolicThroughFiction Finished this last nght, I'm afraid I didn't love the last half as much as i did the first. Once one gets to the part about the Oxford Translators Revolution.things get a little grim. I missed when Oxford was new to them along with the characters.
I just got done reading this…. Oof…. Okay, I LOVED it for like 400 pages and then I completely lost interest and struggled to finish. But I blame that on me not being interested in the revolution side of the story. So it’s a preference thing, not a lack of the author doing her thing. I rated it 3.5/5, but it was worth the read. I loved all the characters! 🤍🖤

Scottish cities really are the definition of Dark Academia. I loved the footage, you are amazing at really showing off that aesthetic with all the vibes and _more._ I would love to know what's the name of some of those places, if you don't mind. Does this book has graphic violence? It sounds super up my alley but I've heard the Poppy War trilogy can get pretty graphic and that is something I try to avoid in books.
Without spoiling anything, yes, it does have some violence which is described in detail, but it is not as bad or graphic as it was in TPW, but I would still suggest you read the trigger warnings just in case.😅
It would be good to put content warnings on videos if you are going to show human remains. Not everyone is comfortable seeing them, especially seeing them be used as part of a trending aesthetic
