The cost of discipleship, Radical by David Platt, The mystery of Iniquity, prayer, and Kingdom of God revealed by Julio Alvarado Jr., The John 7;17 Challenge by Michael Chriswell, and The knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer just to name a few very serious ones that get to the meat of God's word and living for Jesus.
The cost of discipleship is excellent. I read the Pilgrim's Progress when I was younger and it had a profound effect on me. I would recommend it to anyone, especially a young person.

CS LEWIS' Mere Christianity is a book that today's weak evangelists who do not take strong positions on doctrine point to. I think that book has done more harm than good. It divorces itself of any doctrine to raise up what is just the basics and too many pastors have done the same in order to have bigger churches and they have lost so much richness that is in the Bible.
Yes that is one to take your time with if you can but it isn't an easy read but I think that A Case For Christ is the book that would be my preferred option.
Why does every book on your list of best books on God for is of white men only. Do you think that is of God also for only of white men have the knowledge to write of God. You need to do better if you want to help people get knowledge of God. So consider reading: THIS IS THE BOOK OF ALL KNOWLEDGE on Amazon/Walmart books for tells you Who is God, Who is His Word Jesus why did God make His Word God. Tells you why Evolution is of God made, For why God is not saying He made all things made in 7 days & more who is mankind & why are we here for.
I also love ‘The Screwtape Letters’ by C.S. Lewis, and Francis Schaeffer has some great books (‘The God Who Is There’ etc.)
I would also add to your list the following books: The Srewtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and The Inferno by Dante Alighieri.

Good list, but I didn’t find near Christianity an easy read, it was way over my head. Great book But not easy to read
