You are fortunate to have been able to aquire it at retail. Especially now that Rolex has discontinued it. The prices for the Hulk are now at $20,000! Which is nuts.
yeah I really envy him, my dad bought me one a couple days ago for 170k HKD here in HK as my bday gift. I always wanted this and my dad said for 190k hkd he could have bought me the panda instead. Kinda regretted that I choose the AP diver in 2013 instead of the hulk as the AP diver haven't really increased in price but the Hulk is just too expensive right now.
My wife bought this watch for me for our one year wedding anniversary in 2012. I am not much into material possessions but I really love this watch and my fascination with it has not faded since the day I received it.
I've only seen one of these in person before, aside from in the AD window years ago when they were not popular. The green color is amazing, it's like a chameleon how it changes from the different shades.
Bruce, I have seen the Hulk from time to time on YT but it never appealed to me. But after watching this video twice, because your professional presentation really highlighted the unique colour, it's gone to the top of my "Favourite Rolex" List. Phil.
I would be tired of this green, this is beautiful, no doubt about it, but not for an everyday watch. Your globemaster is the perfect daily imo. Love your vids Bruce, keep posting.👍
It's a nice watch. What I particularly like is how the tone of the green bezel insert matches the green sunburst dial. Unlike the green Oris Aquis, Rolex really got this right. So few manufacturers even try with a ceramic insert. Would I wear a green watch regularly enough to bring it into my collection? Probably not but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate it, particularly when Rolex is being a little playful rather than their usual stuffy selves.
I never really liked the supercase but I bought the Hulk recently and I absolutely love it! Being big and very green suits the nickname so well and I think it’s suits the supercase better than other models. I have a 7” wrist with a span of about 6cm and it’s a great fit and doesn’t look big. If you have a smaller wrist then it might be a bit big but it’s personal preference.
I was watching a Craig Shipp review recently who stated that people should not spend more than one weeks salary on a luxury timepiece (he also said the same about men’s dress suits too). In that case you spending $9K on the watch means you earn $468K annually (congratulations if that’s the case). I believe that by using Craig’s formula Rolex would lose over 90% of their sales. As I believe that the people purchasing these Rolex and luxury timepieces are spending closer to two, three or more months wages, this I believe is a much closer estimation and more representative of the consumer market AND video reviews like this are spreading the word to those who will spend well in excess of these two or three plus months salary to possess one of these timepieces. Now tell me in all honesty that spending that much of you salary on a watch make sense?
That formula is only helpful if you execute it in its entirety. If I make 100k per year after taxes, and my living expenses are ~2k a month, I’m sitting on over 6k for savings, retirement investments, hookers, and booze every month. You drop the hookers and booze for 3-4 months and you’re rock’n a hulk. Situations vary, and the benefit here is that if a catastrophic financial event occurs, you sell and get more than your money back.
I’m on the verge of purchasing a Green Rolex, a 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual in Olive Green. It will join my Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Autodate and Longines Legend Diver as a simple 3 watch “collection”. I sold off 5 Grand Seiko, 8 Seiko to get there.
I have the hulk and it is special, perhaps I prefer the Omega (gmt and moonwatch in my case) for daily use, I do not know which brand is better, I am in love with both, but if I think Rolex has that idyllic and inexplicable plus, perhaps because of it resale value or effect of years of well-targeted marketing, who knows ......
You nailed it. Looks wise, I’d take the latest Breitling Superocean or Omega Seamaster models over the Submariner. It’s not robust, it just looks so plain and boring imo. The Sea Dweller is an amazing piece. Robust and trusted. Overpriced? Definitely, but still excellent.
Also years of watered down releases of limited editions and variations by Omega and Brietling.. they have a mass produced feeling.. you can buy one at Costco
I traded a guy 11 gold bars for this. Met a jewelry store to verify everything. Considering I got them at $1,600 a bar, got a really good deal on it. Love the watch!
Why is the writing on your GMT master 2 that you showed briefly blue/Green? Is that something new they are doing? Isn’t it suppose to be white like at the other writing on dial?
It’s a lovely well made watch.. I think with the traditional size of the sub you can wear it almost without really noticing it . I don’t really wear my Rolex sports too often, I think I find them a bit underwhelming visually and I probably followed the crowd somewhat and not my heart when purchasing I don’t think I’m much of a Rolex guy and the time is coming when I will ship 2 out of three out .if I recoup what I paid and even make a modest profit I will be happy..
Sub c and date just 41 both black I feel will be shipped out at some point . I will probably stick with my two tone champagne dial 41 as it’s a good watch for a guy becoming a bit older . No denying they are great watches but I think the generic design combined with lack of AR coating means they fell out of favour somewhat . When you have a sizeable collection there’s a battle for wrist time and they are just not among my favourites. I’ve got my eye on thinning down to four pieces at some point and they will be among the pieces that will go . There’s a decent return in them so it would make sense
Love it. Actually the bezel colour is cracking. Do you think that colour works well with Suits? I suspect with Navy or Grey suits no problem, but with a black suit?
What’s the value of this watch now? I brother gave it to me 5years ago and it’s been sitting in my safety box. I wonder if it’s ok to let it sit there and never move it? TIA
Hey Bruce that’s a gorgeous watch, I have huh end seiko divers and the lume is amazing, however I was trying to search on how long it takes for any watch luminescence to be fully charged!? Does anyone know the answer!? Thx great video again
Beautiful watch, love the overall size, BUT, I still don't understand why so many of these high end watches with a quick adjust clasp can't make a clasp you can adjust on the fly, on your wrist, without removing the watch or opening the clasp. Having to take the watch off to adjust it is a hassle that doesn't need to exist, and at $10,000 it really shouldn't exist IMO.
I'm right there with you. For all the praise that the Glidelock system gets, this is a major stumbling block for me too. The Omega SmP300m has a microadjust system you can quickly use on the wrist, which is why my 2017 SmP gets more wrist time in the summer than my Hulk does.
@@Gnomeshoes91 I've got a Citizen PMD56-2952 that was only $500 and it's quick adjust clasp can be adjusted in either direction easily while the watch is on your wrist too. It's not the prettiest clasp certainly, but the mechanism at work could be easily fitted into a better looking clasp.
it already is a good 'investment' because he payed msrp. and the rumor is they'll stop making it this year. the value will skyrocket. i can see greys asking 20k+.
I love your channel Bruce, and the watch. In your close ups, a few of the applied markers appear to be slightly deformed, is this a lens anomaly? The lume also appears to be slightly irregular. I’m a huge Rolex fan, and love your content!
A luxury watch is suppose to make u feel rich, special and gives u a feeling that you’ve made it in life. This one makes me feel like i’ve made alot of bad choices in life. Had to hide my hands whenever im around someone wearing a daytona..
It wont be announced till next year as its been delayed due to Covid-19 but it's happening for sure. By all accounts the manufacturing has stopped. Whats being sold now is the remaining stock.
Its not a bad looking watch, but Rolex just doesn't give me anything anymore. I see the Submariner everywhere. Its like a pair of Levis jeans. Good quality but everyone has one so there's nothing exciting about it. There are so many amazing watches to choose from at this price range. I would never get a Rolex.

Sunburst dials are always a winner for me
Awesome timepiece, I hope Rolex will upgrade it with a new movement and a non-maxi case. Enjoy your Hulk, it's about the journey
Such a great Rolex! Absolutely love this one.
