Just to clear up a few things; the 04 DID have true dual exhaust. It just exited out one side. There was no engine option. 04 had the LS1, 05 and 06 had the LS2. The only option any of these cars ever had was a choice of a manual or automatic transmission. Electrical problems? Overheating? Nope. Many of the early 04's had a programming glitch which caused the gauges to go crazy and make it appear that the car was overheating, when in fact it wasn't. Irritating, but not dangerous. Only had to shut down the car and restart it to reset. They came out with a fix pretty quickly. The dealer reflashed the ECM and, no more problems. In fact, the only time my 04 overheated was when the pos radiator cracked. (The ends were plastic) It did have over 100,000 miles on it at the time........ Yes, the brakes on the 04 sucked. This reviewer seems to be a GM hater. The only american car company I know of that was notorious for dangerous vehicles was Ford. The Pinto was known for exploding when rear ended, the 84-86 Mustangs were known for electrical fires from the fuse relay box, The early to mid 90's Rangers for catching on fire due to a plastic elbow fuel line part that would crack that was located above the driverside valve cover, The 97-03 F150s were known for the cruise control switch catching fire and the newer F150s were recalled because of the seat buckle sensors catching fire. The 90's Ford Windstar, Explorer and Ranger were recalled for fire safety issues because of a pocket located near the exhaust that would collect debris that would eventually catch fire. GM only had one major safety recall and that was the ignition lock.

It was never promoted as the Australian Corvette , never was intended as a replacement for it either it’s more practical for the corvette enthusiast whom has a family and corvettes that made it here were few and far between and usually tired 💩 , the Monaro was evolved to compete at Bathurst and it became a legend as great as the Vette also any body here retrofitting the Pontiac gear and putting the Chevy bow tie are usually considered wankers . Also there was a AWD variant which was before Chrysler 300cAWD. The Monaro is a district in NSW which is pronounced “ MOnArO “ and is known for its great drives I lived there and the roads are fast paced long distance and grand touring
I’m from Australia, and coincidentally a Monaro owner, and I can attest that no one, absolutely no one in Australia, refers to these as an Australian Corvette.
I have one and i can say alot of this vid is wrong. The only main problems were the rear seat splitting, the front/rear bumper clips breaking making the ends stick out slightly, and some had problems with the diff if they weren't correctly serviced. Mine has had no problems aside from a throttle body
I personally own an 04 gto I bought a few weeks ago, already bought a turbo and I’m looking to buy a 5.3L truck motor ya know... big boost. 😂 call it killing the value or ruining it but it’s what I wanna do. This video is a pretty good run down on the GTO, loving my gto so far. Anyways, thanks for the awesome vid
Didn't GTO have issues where the fuel rail cover would rub against the fuel line and catch fire.Think that was one of its major issues.G8 has the timing chain and lifter failure issues.
This vid could be a bit longer.. Also I can attest that my stock GTO puts up one hell of a fight against most modern Camaros and Mustangs. (SS/GT) R/T Dodges still don't make 400hp and get mopped! GOAT for we are not a trim but a standard.
The GTO dosent over heat or have wire problems "some cosmetic problems" and The GTO Ram Air 6 Stomps any Corvette before the C7 🤣 awesome video I Subscribed

I would litterally have jack one end up at a time for about an hour each time and close off the heater bleeder, while pumping the bottom hose and pouring a coolant directly into the thermostat. If I took it to Ford, they would call a Jaguar mechanic over to their service department and charge me for 6 hours labor.
Personally I hate that they put the GTO name on this car since I used to have a 66gto with a 455 in it. These are cool and all but not worthy enough of the gto name.
Silver N Black Mopar what’s so fun? The style the feel the smell the sound of a big block Pontiac with a cam. What’s not to like. The fact that they handle horrible. Nothing beats old muscle for the fun factor.
You must have had a motor swap then because an original 66 would not have a 455. That wasn't an option until 1970. I do agree the performance of the new age GTO is far superior to the old ones so yes a different name would have been more fitting
I had a 2004 Pontiac GTO. They did have dual exhaust, but the tail pipes were asymmetrical because the Holden Monaro didn't have a bumper cut for a symmetrical dual exhaust system and the 2004 model was literally thrown together at last minute so Pontiac had something to compete with the new Mustangs and the Mazda RX-8. What they ended up with was an Australian sports car with a big enough engine to scare pedestrians who were taking their time crossing the parking lot in front of my car like the passive aggressive bastards they were.
yup.....I had an 2006 A4 torrid red with red/black interior & a maggy tvs1900 on top, was a really fun daily driver, but I really really really really really love my drysump 2011 Corvette GS!!!
The 04 had true dual exhaust as well, it was just dumped to one side in the back. Still true dual with pipes from both exhaust manifolds going all the way to the back.
I had an 02 C5 6 speed vette with only long tube headers and Corso exhaust, cold intake and a tune and it was much faster than other C5s and ran with C6s. No point, I just wanted to be involved.

Just buy a 2004-2006 GTO if you have the chance IMO! Don't worry if it's a LS1 or LS2 because IMO they are really close powerwise, regardless of what the #'s say, and they both run great and have great power!
I should have watched this before I bought one... JK. I love my 05 GOAT. He’s right about electrical problems tho. Most of that is from harness rub which can be remedied with zip ties.
We got the basic car body here in the states. Europe and Australia got the best looking ones. GM was kind of dumb thinking it would had taken away sales from the vette which it wouldn't, it would had taken sales from the mustang GT buyers.
These are cool cars...I enjoyed one but the tiny wheel/tire on the rear with the LS2 is just too much for that body style. The LS2 is awesome that was the best part of that car.
Also regarding "option", there were only two options: 18" wheels and hood scoop delete. If you bought a 2004 model, it had an LS1. If you bought an 05 or 06, it had an LS2. Lots of false info in this video, thumbs down.

This is NOT an Australian corvette. It is 500lbs heavier and has garbage suspension compared to a corvette. This is a muscle car. The corvette is a proper track car. On a side note, I like the looks of the 04 better. Just because you're fast doesn't mean you have to make sure everyone knows it. Why do cars have to do this? What are you trying to compensate for with your loud pipes and overdone body lines? What ever happened to humility among cars? I already replaced the hood with its FAKE AIR SCOOPS (they're fake! They DON'T help it cool! They don't even go through the hood!) on my 05 GTO with a scoopless 04 hood, as well as removed that swollen lipped "sport appearance package". Give me a break! That does nothing to actually make it go faster. "Sport Appearance", i.e. *RICE!* Now I am looking to get the 04 single side exhaust and bumper to put on it next.

Me too!! Phantom black metallic 2004 manual 74k miles!! Bought in 2015 with 6k miles!
06 6L ls2 are beast of a car
Just another example of Chevrolet burying a car just like it did the trans am that was going to destroy its honey Corvette.
Just to clear things up.. it is or was an australian Monaro ... not corvette ... cheers from sunny Australia
He knows.
@@DeiHarper9361 He knows f***k all
It was never promoted as the Australian Corvette , never was intended as a replacement for it either it’s more practical for the corvette enthusiast whom has a family and corvettes that made it here were few and far between and usually tired 💩 , the Monaro was evolved to compete at Bathurst and it became a legend as great as the Vette also any body here retrofitting the Pontiac gear and putting the Chevy bow tie are usually considered wankers . Also there was a AWD variant which was before Chrysler 300cAWD.
The Monaro is a district in NSW which is pronounced “ MOnArO “ and is known for its great drives
I lived there and the roads are fast paced long distance and grand touring
I still say they screwed us with not sending us the L67 version as a base model. Would of sold well here.
I want to know what kind of bumper the car in the thumbnail has. Way better looking than the stock bumper.
Dude were you drunk when you made this? By the way, my 2004 came factory with true dual, and has 209,000 miles; no electrical issues.
Please remember one thing: You are NOT Mr Regular. You do NOT have a Master degree in literature. So do NOT try to be him. Period.
this was the funniest thing ive heard all week...thanks for the laughs😉💸💸💸
The ignorance is real
"Ah ohhh ah ah ah ah" best written intro ive ever heard
I personally own an 04 gto I bought a few weeks ago, already bought a turbo and I’m looking to buy a 5.3L truck motor ya know... big boost. 😂 call it killing the value or ruining it but it’s what I wanna do. This video is a pretty good run down on the GTO, loving my gto so far. Anyways, thanks for the awesome vid
CamCustomsRP get a gen 4 5.3 and boost it to the moon!
Trey Herrera that’s the plan! My 7675 is ready to make some power
Trey Herrera love the gto vids btw, LSA is definitely a good route to go
Didn't GTO have issues where the fuel rail cover would rub against the fuel line and catch fire.Think that was one of its major issues.G8 has the timing chain and lifter failure issues.
DatBoyDre only 2004 gto’s had issues with fuel line rubbing against the coil pack harness & fuel rail covers, later fixed with the 2005 model.
Yeah and the 6.0 in the g8s had problems with the dod lifters failing which in turn could cause catastrophic engine damage
I want to buy a GTO is it okay for a 16 y/o?
This vid could be a bit longer..
Also I can attest that my stock GTO puts up one hell of a fight against most modern Camaros and Mustangs. (SS/GT)
R/T Dodges still don't make 400hp and get mopped! GOAT for we are not a trim but a standard.
"Corvette" is not exactly the most relatable car to use to describe the Monaro.
You legit made my mind up on if I was gonna try and buy this 04
Great video! Thankyou!
The Great LS engine made by GM is what makes this car. And I think the F body's are great.
There was another option not mentioned. 17" or 18" wheels.
I have 2005 LS2 love this car, did you also know the crank is riffle drilled stock is some where around 75 lbs or so and gto is around 58lbs.
The GTO dosent over heat or have wire problems "some cosmetic problems" and The GTO Ram Air 6 Stomps any Corvette before the C7 🤣 awesome video I Subscribed
Some gtos did have major wiring issues and overheating problems..visit the forums and fb and theyll tell you all about it
@@jb6574
A wire rubbing is not an electrical problem go work on a ford 🤣 and the overheating is bec people dont blead out the air buble after service unless the head gaskets go but its the no problem to change the head gaskets on a LS motor
@@JUNKYARDGTO not all electrical issues were due to that common issue..the 04s did have issues with their radiators due to the design. I speak from experience
@@JUNKYARDGTO The worst car I had that would randomly overheat was my 04 Lincoln LS and it was a bitch to burp. I would litterally have jack one end up at a time for about an hour each time and close off the heater bleeder, while pumping the bottom hose and pouring a coolant directly into the thermostat. If I took it to Ford, they would call a Jaguar mechanic over to their service department and charge me for 6 hours labor.
They don’t have electrical problems.
The 06 gto with the LS2,has always been my dream car,is that a bad thing
Watching this with the sound off is the way to go, what a tool
Will hillman- yes sir we observed 30 mpg but average was 26-27 from buckeye Az to palm desert ca
Personally I hate that they put the GTO name on this car since I used to have a 66gto with a 455 in it. These are cool and all but not worthy enough of the gto name.
Sackmatters
Pontiac copied the Ferrari moniker
Quit bitching
You’re showing your ignorance
Jack Smith I’m not bitching
Plus I’m not being ignorant what so ever.
How about you grow up and stop being a douche bag.
Jack Smith Side note. You don’t have to be jealous because I used to have a fun car.
I'm still buying an 05 this summer
Both of My 04's had true dual exhaust ....
Some people forget how fast it can be. At the start of the video hard keeping it in place so a guy crash his in similar fashion.
Damn. That cavalier is fast
I had an 02 C5 6 speed vette with only long tube headers and Corso exhaust, cold intake and a tune and it was much faster than other C5s and ran with C6s. No point, I just wanted to be involved.
2004 gto's had true dual exhaust just out the left side
Known as Pontiac Gto, in North America.
Also known as, Holden Monaro, in Australia. ( HSV also available ).
Also known as Vauxhall Monaro, in Europe.
Also known as Chevy Lumina SS, in the Middle East
@@bvp794 : Wow I did not know the Middle East has the Chevy Lumina, and in the SS version in year 2019.
I did not know Middle East has GM automobiles.
Up here in North America, the Chevy Lumina stopped production long long time ago.
Did not know the Middle East got the SS trim models.
In North American we never had the SS model of the Lumina.
When North America had the Chevy Lumina the top of the line model was the Z34, then later the Lumina got replaced by the Monte Carlo, which also had the Z34 top of the line as well, eventually the Monte Carlo also got discontinued.
And from my observations, the Middle Eastern looking people in North America usually go for the asian automobiles, then the european automobiles and then the north american automobiles.
Thanks for sharing the info, I wish you a great day.
Pontiac g8 gxp and chevy captice pov and chevy ss are basically the same car family from holden with more power .love the presentation.thx.
so sad that holden got shut down here in australia :(
It was never known as the Australian Corvette...........Holden Monaro yes, I have the four door version known as the SS and it has less than 60.000 miles for an15 yr old car
Say what you want but my friend owns a like new 2002 "foot with nostrils" 18 years later receives tons of complements, attention, and find people checking it out in parking lots all the time! I cant figure out why you make these videos, yes you have basic knowledge but you come off in your videos as someone who gains all his knowlege from HotRod magazine! Money says you couldnt replace your own alternator!
youd be losing money then😉👍
He is clearly a ford guy who doesn’t know much about gm. Also just sounds like a drunk idiot making a video about something he doesn’t know.
"Fricking gringos" 🤣
For 30k new this car was a great car. I had 2. Best driver car. The seats are like sitting on clouds. And u can drive all day and be comfortable
My cousin had a gto nothing but problems I was supposed to buy it from him after it stranded him. Instead he traded it for a pos suburban, that bastard I’m still mad at him.
I love that car. That is a special car on many levels.
2004 GTO had duels just came out one side.
This guy is definitely whack and knows nothing about the 2004-2006 GTO's.
My stock 2004 LS1 GTO has beaten many a stock LS2 GTO and vice versa in races. IMO the LS1 and LS2 are both KILLER.
Just buy a 2004-2006 GTO if you have the chance IMO! Don't worry if it's a LS1 or LS2 because IMO they are really close powerwise, regardless of what the #'s say, and they both run great and have great power!
Nice review m8
The engine was not a trim level. The 2004-2006 always had dual exhaust.
I should have watched this before I bought one... JK. I love my 05 GOAT. He’s right about electrical problems tho. Most of that is from harness rub which can be remedied with zip ties.
Where on the car is this Harness? I need to check it.
Well Mr. Random, if you are going to rip off Mr. Regular, at least get your Information right.
Your correct sir Pontiac makers should be proud of their service through out the history of that auto awesome muffler sound 🐐
This was complete non sense I have a 04 gto and that boi is an amazing car and people tell me all the time I have a jewel 💎
I started the video, and had to mute it because my family thought I was watching porn
I have a monte.carlo ss 87 ls 5.3 should i trade it for a gto
Pontiac. Always. Pontiac. Great vid. I have lusted for a 6.0. If I ever buy another toy. That’s the one. I can’t afford a restored TTA. Lol.
Can you please do a before you buy on the lincoln mark Viii i love your videos keep it up.
Actual zero to 60 time was 4.7 seconds. Not 4.5
WRONG, the 04 were dual , just exit single sleeper! dude take some advil for your cramps and drink water try to sleep well.
Smiles per gallons, GTO
Also regarding "option", there were only two options: 18" wheels and hood scoop delete. If you bought a 2004 model, it had an LS1. If you bought an 05 or 06, it had an LS2. Lots of false info in this video, thumbs down.
Gto hood scoops do nothing but add looks. They are solid behind the plastic. It does not change anything but looks and aero dynamics in unmeasurable ways
My favorite v8 coupe I've ever owned. The oldest but keep finding myself wanting to go back even with the tire fitment issues, the diy roll your own fenders even if you don't want to, and the milktoast front end but fuck I loved it and need another one in my life.
I want to buy one but I just want to know if I do proper maintenance will it be reliable?
@@abtinz7127 if you can find one un abused
@@abtinz7127 dude I bought my 04m6 in 15’. Still my daily driver
I've sank atleast 3k into mine that I picked up for 6.6k
LMAO moneypit what's been done? I really fucking want one they are beautiful. Don't think of it as money lost, rather money saved compared to uhhh let's say a civic si, that's around 25k and you aren't even getting anywhere near driving experience of the gto. Make sure you keep your gto going so it can become a survivor one day!
