I don't know why this band is so underrated ! I follow them for 8 years now and I think that's the best german pagan black metal band. Except Exp. Autarkis, all their releases are awesome !
Rabenblut, for me it has lost all what has made Bergthron so great before. It's just 30min of basic death metal for me. I don't know how you can appreciate Leben un Lebenswille and Exp Autarkis :) but it's a good debate !
I grew up with Death Metal and it's my second favourite genre today beside Black Metal. Expidition Autarktis is for me a really good DM album with nice clean vocals at some points and epic lyrics :) Bergthron often change their style a little bit and also between Verborgen in den Tiefen der Wälder... and Faust für Faust there is a little improvement of their sound :) I don't think they go a bad way when they improve their DM sound :)
Yes of course but there is Jagdheim between Verbogen and FFF. I think there is also an evolution to a more DM sound between FFF and Leben but this has been made without removing folk and pagan elements so in the end Leben is one of my favourite album of all times. But I understand your point of view, I just wanted to discuss with one person who has loved Exp Autarkis ahah :)
Oh, you are right I forgot Jagdheim (also a really nice album). Either way, Bergthron is a really impressive bands with a nice list of awesome releases and who know maybe their next album will be a new Leben und Lebenswille or a mixture of their new DM style and Pagan elements. Stay Heavy \m/
Before they released the album back in the days, they told in an interview, that the album will be "ugly". They did this on purpose to evolve further. On the musical side it's far from the old stuff, but from the lyrical side it's still Bergthron, just from a different point of view. Considering this Exp. Autarkis is still Bergthron as usual, just from another point of view ;)
