    I wish I could find a Clausing like that. Very nice

    I've had my 8530 for two months now. I scaled down from a Bridgeport, and so glad I did.

      I'm not 100% convinced that I would be happy stepping down to just the little machine. I really need to spend some time running it, and see how I feel about it's capabilities. Can't deny the cool factor though...such an awesome machine.

      @secondarymachine7521 It took me a couple of years to make the decision to downscale. The BP took up lots of room, everything I machined was small.

    Your so lucky to have found this old Clausing, I found one that is like showroom new , retired machinist who passed wife sold it to me, and came with tons or tooling with it. You should really see it and as far as the fine feed wheel, it's not to be used with the lever, you have to engage it to work it correctly. Ever have any Q's just ask, or things I may not need. These old Causing's are just the best and used a Bridgeport head. Oh, and I live 40 miles from where they were made in Kalamazoo, MI. He bought it new and don't think it ran more that 20 hours.

    Right on! I love my 8520. Picked it up from Detroit. Well worth the drive. It’s pretty mint & even has the belt cover. I have the 4” Kurt vice for mine.

    I've got that milrite and I love mine, although mine has a rider block and a 4 speed Lima gearbox. Don't get rid of it. When you need capacity you'll be thankful

    Hello brother, I just found your video and it’s absolutely incredible. Today is the day when I found 8520 in immaculate condition but I’m absolutely like I’m telling you absolutely new to it zero experience. Please would you give a small tour where to start how to start what should I keep in mind basic things, please please make a video

    I just sent my Millrite MVN down the road. It literally sold within 4 hours after I posted the ad in CL. Buyer was from Sequim. I had 3 other guys who said they also wanted it. If you decide to sell the MVN, it will go quickly. I replaced mine with a J head Bridgeport.

    I love my 8520. It spent most of its life in a Ford factory paint shop, something about making spray nozzles was mentioned by the previous owner. Heck of a nice little machine. Enjoy!

      I just realized this morning that I already knew the previous owner who shipped it out from the Mid West. Small world... and now I have pics of it on the pallet ready to go out.

    do not get rid of your bigger tools, you will be sorry.....ask me how I know.....Paul

      @secondarymachine7521  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I kinda see it coming. I'm going to hold off for a bit for sure. If I was finding some side work that required the larger tools and they were making me some money on the regular, theres no doubt I'd keep them.

    Beautiful machine, very envious! I've always wondered how tall of a work piece can fit on this machine. Do you think a 14" tall piece clamped directly to the table and a fly cutter in the collet would work out?

    • @secondarymachine7521
      @secondarymachine7521  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easy. Vertical room is always an issue with mini milling machines, but not with this one, which has an additional 4" riser on the column.

    Nice shop, I have an 8525 but don’t have the original vice. Good deal. By the way do you have enough tires?

    • @secondarymachine7521
      @secondarymachine7521  ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric's used tire emporium...lol. They are stacked and leaving here in the next few weeks..

    DO NOT use as a drill press! Rapid advance is just that and not intended as drill press. I love my Clausing.

    Will you install a DRO on this? I have a 8520 and looking for tips from folks who've installed DRO's on theirs. Cheers

    I was tempted to buy that mill, but I got signs that it wasn’t the right time for me to do so 🫣 I was really surprised that it lasted that long actually.
    Congratulations on getting that machine.

      I just found out that I actually know it's former owner in Chicago! He just sent me pics of it in pieces strapped to the pallet for shipping, from several years ago..

      Round ram Bridgeports can be found for less money than people want for those baby Clausing mills. A round ram Bport with the 32" table and M head is about the size of the Millrite, and only a few.hundred pounds heavier. Home shop guys are starting to "discover" them, and they're generally ignored by the pros for being too small.

    • @secondarymachine7521
      @secondarymachine7521  ปีที่แล้ว

      An M head would be great, but you just don't see them here in the PNW @@vandalsgarage
