The paramount chief of Lango Mzee Yosam Odur Ebii has distanced himself from the recent election in which Dr Eng Moses Michael Odongo Okune was elected as his successor.
In a press briefing held on Thursday by his cabinet ministers the paramount chief said the election process was erroneous and marred by illegalities. He says the legit election will be held in November when he quits office and the position remains vacant.

The power struggle for the Lango Cultural Institution is far from ending with the old leadership coming out to disassociate themselves from the recent election that saw former Uganda Road Fund executive Director come to power as the new paramount chief elect. Dr Eng Moses Michael Odongo Okune scheduled to be enthroned in November this year. Represented in a press briefing by his cabinet members the paramount chief Mzee Yosam Odur said the election process was hijacked.

They allege that early this year a section of clan heads sat in a council meeting and overthrew the constitution that was gazette in 2017. This they say was erroneous to pave way for the election of Dr Eng Moses Michael Odongo Okune without the blessing of the reigning paramount.

In April this year a new paramount chief was elected by over 100 clan leaders. And on 19th June Dr Eng Moses Michael Odongo Okune was gazette by the ministry Gender Labour and Social Development.

Ogwang was this month blessed by Mzee Yosam Odur as a competent successor of his throne. A five member committee headed by Rt Col Dan Opito has been set to superintend over the election in November.
Meanwhile the camp for paramount chief elect and gazeted by government has set a coronation committee led by the government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua. The team is currently hunting for resources to hold this event on November 2nd invitation and networking is equally in high gear, the latest being at the 30th Empango of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.
