OcularCentaur42 He's actually not that bad in Usf4. The worst out of the bunch, yeah, but, that's not saying much. His frame trap is so fun to abuse online.
Tranquil Downpour A tip for minimising frustration. Notice how Maximilian was playing on a single round against the AI, rather than best of 3. This means that, presuming you are at least using continues, you only need to beat the boss ONCE, and then you can get some sleep lol.
Knowing this earlier would have alleviated SO much frustration for me in many games...

My week of learning: I sucked at street fighter for a long time. I could get through with new on Normal, but not without a lot of effort and bluster.
On SFV I put the AI on the hardest mode, and practiced blocking and punishing (LOW BLOCK IS YOUR GOD!) + simply keeping alive. Then I learned to punish. Fixed the lag online, and realised that there are players of SOOO many skill levels available to play against. I won a couple of the easy ones, but was too tired to effectively Punish or Shoryuken Anti-air.
I wacked up the AI on Street Fighter 4 straight up to Hardest mode, and beat it with Ryu without too much trouble. Also, had been more prudent, I'd also have put it on one round so that I didn't have to bother beating Seth twice in a row... but I learned more as a result. Control your fun, and know what you are trying to aim for.
Thanks Max, these focus attacks and wake up ultras, plus some cool movement + zoomed out camera & clear visuals makes me love Street Fighter 4. I start to see it a bit like a tower defense or strategy game lol. You can sometimes delay reactions + Turtle in order to play smarter, if you keep yourself safe. PUNISH, PUNISH, PUNISH!
It was never about what the opponent did... but it was what I did wrong...and must continue to learn from. Footsies and spacing... I finally 'get' it.
Awesome.
That's what makes fighting games so great! Learn your character or characters, learn the opponents strengths and weaknesses and overcome the challenge before you.

In Mk9, you have the tower. Battle after battle, you fight under certain conditions, multiple opponents, and crazy mini games. Some are easy, some are excruciating. At the top lies a challenge unparalleled by all that I played within the game.

It's not a bad idea, but there is a loophole. If you continuously lose and retry over and over (with an exception being pausing and retrying from the pause menu), the AI on the last challenge gets continuously dumber to the point where the fighters may not even move.
Maybe there was a patch, but that's how I remember beating that near-impossible end to the challenge tower.
OH FUCK. I REMEMBER THAT NOW. I think my mind suppressed that awful experience. Yeah if he's gonna do MK9 that's the one. That's what stopped me dead for a long time on the challenge tower.

No to this day I still can't beat that final challenge if I'm ever lucky to me Shao Kahn Mileena would have drain the remaining of my health and Shao Kahn would just catch me with one shoulder and the 20% two hit combo kills all my dreams
Let's not forget that you get random nerfs or the enemy gets random buffs throughout the matches AND you have to do that all on ONE health bar
