$143 for a brand new pistol with a lifetime no question asked warranty? And every part is made in America?? How can any gun enthusiast not have one or a few considering you can get four new hi points for the price of one glock? Great barn gun if anything

I love my Hi-Point C9 and so far it has eaten everything I have fed it. It has been an accurate and reliable firearm and while it is not my EDC it makes a great backup truck gun and I plan to add a Hi-Point 995 to my collection. Thanks for the informative video.

Get the 1095. The 10mm.. they also come in 40, 45 ,... The 10, 40, and 45, dont have a tapered case like the 9mm. And they are more reliable with the longer extended mags that are preferable with the carbine. The 995 has been plauged with issues not present on the other calibers and im willing to bet body parts that its because of the single stack mag and the tapered 9mm luger case.. if you research 9mm single stsck failure to feed issues youll see a plethora of guns by all mfgs that have issues with single stack 9mm guns nosdiving on the first round or two in mags that hold more than 7-8 rounds.. the problsm comes from the gap that grows when you stack them on top of eachother . That first round in a full mag has to angle up to feed. And the tapered case causes a large gap from the top round to the next, and gives it room to nosedive. If the cases were straight , then the top round would be supported by the next round , not just at the rim but the whole length of the cartridge

I think hi point have come a very long way in the last several years. I respect their ability and that when someone is extremely budget limited that it makes a good option.
I personally have gone with the taurus pt111g2 and the g2c because ive been getting them for $179. The taurus is just more ergonomic, cheaper to buy parts/accessories/holsters for, and just more user friendly. Ill never give anyone grief for having a hi point. At least theyre armed with something that works.

My experience with Hi Points (both pistols and carbines) is if you’re having functionality problems it’s pretty much always the magazine. Their mags are inexpensive, so buy a bunch, and if any don’t work right then HP will replace them.

Correction . They are " darn reliable" when you find mags that are good.. the hipoint is totally reliant on the mag to run right. And because they are so cheap, one area they save money is on the mag... The feedlips are easily bent in shipping and by dropping .. if you have an issue with your hipoint , get 4-5 new mags.. run them and the ones that feed right, keep them.. throw the rest away . You can sometimes bend the feed lips and make them work too.. but all hipoints ive ever seen with jam issues were due to the magazine. .. ive founf them to be 100 percent reliable when clean and with good mags..

@@no.step.on.snek.2423 Throw the mags away?? No way, just a little twerk and it's good, I've had all my hi points and only had a few stove pipes but once I polished the feed ramp they were golden for me, it's been about 5 years with all my hi points and haven't had ANY heartbreaking issues.

    @no.step.on.snek.2423 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The dos and donts of highpoint pistols and reliability :
    Do
1: clean as soon as you get it and familiarize yourself with dissassembly.
2: do,go buy mothers mag wheel polish, and pack some in the slide rails, reassemble and work the slide back and forth. This may take a couple of applications, but will make the slide perfectly mate to the frame and make it super slick. Gunsmiths call this " lapping the slide". Make sure to throroughly clean after... Hipoints are vloa back operated , not locked breach. And to keep the slide closed long enough for pressre to drop , thsy use that huge heavy slide.. most mfgs use a combination of a heavy slide and heavy spring. Buf highpoint uses just a really heavy slide, and a light spring. This is the source of failure to return to battery, and the overall sluggishness of the slide when chambering a round.. the " lapping" process helps this immensely
3: do, go ahead and buy 3-4 mags. They are very cheaply made, and prone to bending at the feed lips. All highpoint reliability issues ive seen are due to either a cruddy gun, or a bad mag..
4: do run hollowpoints , and fmj out of the mags.. if any have failures to feed or anything elss, get your money back and keep the ones that work. Or use the unreliable ones for range only.
    5. Do , number your magazines to keep track . Keep a sheet to document each failure for each mag
    6. do, break your gun in by shooting 2-300 rounds of warm ammo... AFTER lapping the slide. Then base your magazine judgements off of that.
7: do find a holster that covers the trigger .
8: do keep a spare recoil spring assembly and swap it when return to battery issues arise.
    Donts
1: dont drop your magazines .
2: dont get lazy with cleaning after the range if this is your self defense gun.
3: dont carry with safety disengaged. This gun has no striker block safety.
4: dont drench in oil, this attracts grit and makes it even harder for the light recoil spring to do its job.
    5. Dont moddify the crappy trigger or buy a kit. Some are dubious and render the gun not drop safe to the point a bump will fire it.. leave the trigger be unless your a competent user. You can master the trigger with practice and its heavy for a reason.
6: dont be satisfied.. if this is all you can afford , practice all ive said and youll bd fine.. but understand that as soon aa possible, it would be prudent to buy a better , lighter, easier to carry, rugged , more reliable gun.. that dont require a special rule set to make them defense worthy .
Highpoints are good for what they are . You shouldnt have to fork out a weeks pay to keep yourself safe. Highpoint provides and option for that.. their warranty is impeccable, and they are usa made , and stood by, the company is seriously awesome.
Sccy is the same way. And in many ways a better gun for just a little more. And good to go right out the box

Some people had feed problems , jamming , others loved it ,said it never failed and was very reliable , one of my biggest problems is finding ammo just to put thru it , I really want to test it out at the range so I guess I'm going to try some of their generic target loads just to see if it feeds ok , it was an interesting video , thanks for posting 👍🏼

If you have a high point 9C, avoid 147gr bullets. My buddy bought two brand new pistols and we had feet problems out of both of them. Took them back to point of sale, return to factory about 3 days later the tech called. After discussion he told him it was ammo, as the 147 is designed for full size 5 in barrels. In a short high point, you get FTE or FTF and it has problems blowing the slide all the way back because of the heavy bullet. We swapped ammo never had another problem. Incidentally the lighter the ammo the hotter the ammo the better that gun runs. It's rated +P

Well I did it..lol.. I bought a c9 today.. I went out and ran some Winchester white box 124 grain and aguila 115 grain just to see.. at 20 yo 25 feet it was dead on accurate and functioned 100% .. I didn't know what to expect listening to all the bashers.. ya I have other pistols but bought this out of curiosity.. so 174 plus tax.. not a bad deal..

Thanks for the video, i wondered about which ammo would work best. Just regular 9 mm, like Federal or otherwise. What do you think of the rack? Can you make the serrations easier to get a hand on when you grad it? How many rounds did you run through it to warm up? Any other pointers? This will be my first CCW, I know it’s big for that, but price wise, I’m not in the market for a 300 or 600 price tag. Maybe am RIA .38 revolver, but 9 mm is the most affordable billet. Do have any other suggestions or tips for racking, grips? Thank you!

I'm thinking about buying the C9 for my first handgun. It's 180.00 + tax for me here in California. It would go along with my shotgun for home defense and to take camping. If I decide to later apply for CCW permit, would it be safe as far as the safety is concerned and having one chambered, so 9 total? I know it's thick and chunky and I can afford a more expensive gun but just just curious

I've had great luck with my Yeet Cannon C9 that I've had for a few years, it's reliable as they come and was _surprisingly_ accurate right out of the cardboard box. I have yet to find a brand of ammo that it doesn't like, it's weirdly one of my most reliable pistols as far as different ammo goes, I have two CZ's one of which I could have bought 20 HiPoints for what it cost me (customized and Cajunized SP-01 Competition) and neither of them like hollowpoints as much as the HiPoint. She sure as hell isn't a looker nor does she feel good under the hands but damn does she get the job done🤣.
Ohh and I also did a trigger job to it, I polished the sear and striker and replaced the sear spring with a much lighter one, and also cut down the height of the sear so theres almost no creep, it breaks at around 2 pounds and I also set travel limits in the trigger so it only goes far back enough to fire and far forward enough to reset, it shoots so much better now. Dangerous AF though, I can make it fire by firmly slamming the magazine in or tapping a hard surface with the butt of the pistol, it's definitely no longer a safe gun but _damn_ does it shoot well now, it's probably the second-nicest trigger I own which is saying something. A buddy of mine absolutely could not believe how nice it is now, HiPoints are supposed to feel like they're full of sand and use a piece of rebar as a trigger spring🤣.

My local Academy is giving me some great deals! Just can't say no! I've been shooting and owning HP's for several years now. Great guns and great customer service! I bought my 45 used from a buddy for $100. One call to the factory and I had all the parts to rebuild it, inside and out, for free. They're both of a similar size over all with a smaller lighter slide and less felt recoil due to the design with higher capacity, better sights and a better trigger on the Taurus for the same price roughly if you shop around.
