- This season I went through the worst shooting slump I've ever had, it literally lasted months! This video was the pinnacle of my despair & what really pushed me to figure out why I was missing & how to fix it.

It was a season for slumps all over. I rode the struggle bus for all of October, it was rough. That pup has got a motor! Nice video.

I had a two-year slump with just one dog. First year, a 6 month old, male DK pup that was a pointing machine. I just couldn't put a bird down for him. Same thing when he was a year and a half. I'd go out with my older female GSP and get birds. I just couldn't buy a hit with the young male. I was so happy the first hunt our when he was 2 1/2, and I finally got the monkey off my back. We had good back to back seasons the past couple of years. At least he never held it against me, still worked hard for me those two years. My 6 year old female will yell at me when I miss. lol.
Boo Hoo.LOL so you're like everyone else hunting grouse and woodcock. It's hard because of all the crap you're shooting through. There is no getting in a good shooting position and getting behind the bird and shooting through the bird like on the skeet range. Plus its almost impossible to get a
great mount while stepping over and around limbs and logs while shooting a bird not moving in a straight line. Plus doing it while watching and working a young dog. Nope ain't going to happen. Start shooting a double then you can only miss twice. Good Luck
Haha! I usually do pretty good, I ended up figuring out what caused it & shot good for the rest of the season, part 2 video is much better! Lol
