Can you believe it's already Advent once again? The year has FLOWN by!
This is a well-known Advent/Christmas piece by Bach. While not as difficult as many of his pieces, it is very pleasant to listen to! I hope you enjoy it as we enter into the Advent season! ☺️🙏

Really nice, the tempo and registration are just right to my ears. I spent ten years trying to learn to play the organ, but gave up.

Also known as "Sheep May Safely Graze". One of the oldest organist points of conversation is how fast those sheep are walking around, and grazing in that right hand. 😅
I believe that is a different melody line, isn't it? I say that because I have been after Sarah to learn that one as well. 😅 But yes, similar in it's lightness and counter melody. What a funny image of the sheep dancing around in the right hand. So true! 😂

Oh man memories. we did this in a unique manner at my church combining congregation singing the first two verses from the hymnal, then I as Tenor solo as it's written in the cantata, with violin and organ accompanying. We then added our choir for the chorale section from the cantata. I sang in German. I loved utilizing all the elements of Wachet Auf. Have to admit I was waiting for you to segue into the chorale arrangement at the end too.
