My friend Bill's Mother was raised in a Sod Home in Oklahoma, (1901 to 1913) that her Grandfather built. She said sadly it'll never happen again, because in the 1920's the farmers burned off all the Indian Grasses that covered the Great Plains. She said so many new people moved in, and had 3 Bedrooms, and a bath. We had 4 bedrooms, and a path! (whispered to me, "to the outhouse") There are places that don't even have a path. So God Bless America.
Love watching y’all 2 together The yard is looking Great!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸Dougo is right never forget our heroes that have fought and died for our freedoms that we have enjoyed 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I like the directive, Amy has spoken, get it done. As she has told us, she is a very good business woman. Your house and yard are looking better all the time. Great job Doug. 😀
Thanks for another great video Amy and Dougo. Appreciate the updates. Dougo you are getting the hand rails almost finished. Yeah!!!!! Another project done or close to it. The grass is looking great. Your company has done a great job with the lawn. Time to pull the docks and boat out of the water again. Do it before it gets too darn cold. Harvest is around the corner. Busy busy time ahead. Thanks Amy for the updates. You both are the greatest. Thanks. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
Loved reading about the sod house in the Little House book On The Banks Of Plum Creek. I was stung by a bumble bee right behind my ear i tell you what that was no fun and painful.
We all love ya Dougo & never tire of your reminiscing! We can learn so much from history. Railing looks great, you're in the home stretch! Amy will be ready with new stuff on the honey-do-list! 🤣
Glad to see the two of you, and no need to feel like you've been talking to long, i enjoy the bantering, and the stories. I .guess i must be old, because i know about the sod house's, and little house on the prairie. To bad they don't make good show's and movie's like they did back when there was no cable or internet. G-d bless everyone.
Yard is looking good. Wanted to share a tip I learned about mulch. If you put cardboard or several layers of newspaper down under the mulch you don't have to mulch as often. Bonus the worms do their thing and you get even better soil.
Poor Dougo, that honey-do list isn't getting any smaller. Homes can be built into the side of hills too, makes them mostly tornado (or extreme weather)-proof.
I look forward to every video. So nice to watch something these days without having to hear curse words. Especially on tv, it's almost impossible to find a decent program that isn't filled with filth and profanity. Thank goodness for Andy Griffith and Green Acres. Amy, I would never straddle a flower covered by bumble bees. That's inviting trouble you don't need. Anyway, looking forward to watching bean harvest, and seeing the rest of the guys.
Little House In The Big Woods took place only ten miles southwest of us. Can’t imagine what my great grandparents went through when they moved here from Germany in 1883. The 1883 movie series probably is quite authentic on what they endured.
Dougo mentioned getting the boat and dock out of the lake for winter... made me remember all the dead fish last winter... hopefully not so cold this winter. Porch and yard looking great.
It's supposed to be 80 on Tuesday - according to WCCO! My hummingbirds are going crazy drinking sugar water - getting ready to head south. LOVE Little House books. We read a chapter after lunch each day in 3rd. grade. Interesting about the hail and the pods bursting. Missed your Sunday video last wkend. Hope we see video of the "boys" remodeling the area in the machine shed. Nice to see Erik back. The trick on Brody is still the funniest video ever!
I here u Dougo people use to work hard as the farmers do . But no more they want big government to hand it to them! God bless America and all farmers 🙏🏻
Diug and Amy, the homestead is looking spectacular! A little hard work has born great rewards for you two! Here's wishing you two a safe and bountiful harvest. Edit: Doug not Diug
I like bumble 🐝 🐝! But they do sting if provoked or angered! Our son got stung on his leg when he was 7. He and our daughter, 9, were sitting in the backseat of our 1986 Orange Dodge Omni, when the bumble flew in past my husband's head and hit our son, our son screamed, we pulled over quickly and dispatched the bee. We kept an eye on our son but he didn't have a reaction. I pulled the stinger out. I felt bad for the bumble! 😢
@@perkasch5488 I average about 3-4 stings a year working in my garden, nothing hurts worse than a wasp. A bumble bee will leave you alone if you leave it alone.
Amy you can flirt with the bumble bees if you want to but I'm on Dougo side on this issue until once you experience a bumble bee sting it will be now you know you know and then you will be a believer from there on out!!😀😀
@@amysblessings Well, Amy, you may be like me.... I have never been bothered by bees. I guess I am not the right skin or blood type. A bumble 🐝 stung our son years ago (he's 40) and he said it hurt like heck, but he had no reaction! Thank goodness!
That is why you have kids so they can do things for you. It is getting cooler here in Alabama too . I had to put a T shirt on today 82 degrees at noon. Bumbles Bees wont bother you dont be so afraid. Amy is brave.
Wow... at 68 I just realized that I don't really give a chit anymore... if these entitled kids want to live like demons... let them. The good strong areas of this Country will survive.
For the record, bumble bee's Sting ! Take it from someone who is alergic to bee's . I ended up in the hospital when a bumble bee stung me in the corner of my eye.. Its was excruciatingly painful... Most people mistake carpenter bee's for bumble bee's.. The bumble bee has the hairy abdomen and a yellow stripe... The bumble is more aggressive & has a wicked sting, whereas the carpenter is less aggressive & a much milder sting.. Also , the carpenter bee will bore holes right through your house walls & do extreme damage if they're not exterminated..
you two always make me smile. Your entire family are just awesome. I watch you from the west coast of Canada. Always a pleasure to see such joy of life you show us. I love your show. Happy Anniversary belated. You guys ROCK! PS: The house and yard really look great this year.
Oh ya did 6yrs 1/27 FA FT Carson Co. I’m 63yrs old taxes have been done by outside experts, but assclowns from my revenue on my as really at 64yrs old I’ve had it.enjoy your beautiful home.
I am surprised people who put the Gracien wanted you to wait until it was 5 inches tall before you get the first mowing. The rule of thumb is you never cut more than a third of the grass off at a time.
I totally disagree! I’ve been an OTR trucker for 40yrs 6 million miles….so why is it when farmers have hard times the federal government bails you out, don’t don’t say it you know dam well it happens. How do I know this I grew up on dairy farm Byron Mn. I wish I could live in mansion, oh I do see them. It’s really gonna suck when you’re crop rots in the bin cuz nobody will haul it. Ya you move your own but ….it’s gotta get fed to something processed and delivered to stores. Shits gonna get bad. I do LOVE ❤️ farmers and the hard work you do…..😢i work hard too
Lots of people are struggling in this country! I so disagree with your perspective side of what’s going on in this country. Just disgusting of our government as what they are doing to our country!

Truth! And thank you.
The very first you should do is take care of Nikki's garden. I really miss her she was such a wonderful person. Loved your video.
My Grand parents lived in a sod house for four years after he returned from WW2. When men were men!

That would also be great 👍

Use rubber mulch, color lasts way longer and doesn’t blow around
Send some of the cooler weather down south.

I should probably draw a map of what is in there. I am not sure I can remember the names off the top of my head. Good assignment for me.

New Zealand has a lot of sod cottages still standing , they are being saved so future kids can see how life was. They are really nice places .

Bees don't bite, they sting.
I guess I used the wrong word.
Were does Chet live ?
Five inches grass?
Bees that don't sting?
Forever an optimist, I am.
