    I just bought one with the Ryzen 7 2700U and 1080P option. I've always admired IBM ThinkPads from when I was a little kid, glad to get my first one for a reasonable budget from Lenovo. - excited soon to be ThinkPad owner

      @@CrxwdCntrl I bought mine 5 months ago with . It ran pretty smooth and fast but I personally had a lot of problems. I got the 1080p, ryzen 2700u, 16gb, and a ssd and it died in 2 hours from a full charge if I had google chrome and a pdf open at the same time. The fans were always so loud compared to other laptops while just idling and it could barely run any games without the fans going ballistic.

      @@Magercanine7 I have A485. If you want to conserve battery turn on quiet mode(Fn+Q or icon in bottom right) It can last me easily for 7-9 hours with 42Whr external battery(mine has internal batter removed at the moment) If i would have 72whr one and internal battery in place then it would last me easily in excess of 14hours in use, and possibly up to 7 hours of heavy use gaming in high power mode.

    Got mine E485 with Full HD screen,AMD Ryzen 3 with 8GB RAM,AMD Vega 3 graphics and 1TB HDD for €528 directly from Lenovo.Bargain for this price.Good build quality,can play on it "Call of Duty Black Ops 3" and "Call of Duty:Ghosts" on medium settings,"Sniper:Ghost Warrior 3" on low settings without problem.Also was watching 1080p HD copy of "John Wick" movie using Mirillis Splash player 2.2 on maximum video and audio quality settings-no lags,no freezing.

    Awesome video, man! Thank you so much! Just what I needed to know. Looks like the cooling system is pretty good, dual piped heatsink and large enough fan should be adequate. Can easily repaste if needed.
    On top of that, nice upgrade options for RAM and storage. I've ordered one with 2700/vega 10, FHD screen for 600$. Should be getting it next week.
    Personally, I wanna upgrade the screen to a 100% sRGB gamut panel later on. Another thing, Lenovo BIOS keeps the CPU/GPU locked at 15W, so in order to unlock its full potential, you need a modded BIOS. I'm gonna look into that as soon as I get my machine. It's possible to get an extra 30-50% performance out of this beast with the right tools!

    • @danielwanner281
      @danielwanner281 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you found anything about the modded Bios? Just ordered this machine with the same specifications.

    • @huitzilopochtli4655
      @huitzilopochtli4655 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@danielwanner281 , I'm still waiting for the laptop to arrive. First, will upgrade RAM, SSD, clean OS install and test performance. Then will work on getting a modded BIOS. I have a strong suspicion that vendors locked the Ryzen tdp at 15W to 'protect' the market. These processors are cheap but can perform on par with much more expensive Intel and Nvidia counterparts. In any case, should be getting my machine in the next few days. Will keep you posted.

    • @huitzilopochtli4655

      I finally got my laptop! It's a very nice machine. The keyboard is divine! Build quality is good, better than most business grade laptops, but I've seen better. Upgraded RAM to 32GB (16x2) @3200MHz, but it's limited to 2400MHz so it downclocked itself. This will be one of the issues to address with a BIOS mod. Just waiting for a new NVMe drive to begin. To be continued...
      P.S.> Temps never go above 65C so there's plenty of room for improvement. I haven't even repasted it yet!

      @@huitzilopochtli4655 My E485 was supposed to be delivered today according to UPS, but its now past 23:00 and its not here. Oh well.
      I ordered the following configuration during cyber monday deals for 570€:
      * Ryzen 7 2700U
      * 8GB DDR4-2400
      * 128 GB NVMe SSD
      * FHD display
      I still have a 256gb Samsung SM951 from my old laptop that i am going to put in, and an additional 8GB DDR4-2400. I also ordered an Intel Wireless-AC 9260, as the integrated Qualcomm one it comes with is apparently crap and has bad Linux support.

    • @huitzilopochtli4655
      @huitzilopochtli4655 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Daniel Wanner,
      Good choice man!
      Good idea to get an Intel card, I'll do the same later on. For now, I can confirm that Linux (tried a couple of debian based distros) detects all of the hardware on the fly, including wifi. Not sure how stable it is though, as I didn't want to spend much time working with stock HDD when my Force 510 nvme ssd is arriving tonight (hopefully).
      I'm thinking to start a thread at forum.notebookreview.com/. This machine is highly underrated in my opinion and deserves a wider recognition. What distro are you planning to use?

    • @undissatisfied1557

      I believe mobile Ryzen chips are all soldered to the board, which means that they aren't upgradeable. If you're on a budget, I recommend the model with the R5 2500U, because it has pretty comparable performance to the higher end chip.
