Malmsteen picks one time for a triplet but VM picks every note for a triplet, so VM's sound is much clearer and more articulate than Malmsteen's( drunken Vinnie version ).
The original piece is a Bach composition, Concerto #5 BWV 1056 - Largo. I have Vinnie Moore's album, one of my favorite ones, Bach and Beatles in the same album! The guitar solo is killer, Vinnie did a brilliant job.
JS Bach + Vinnie Moore = a real masterpiece here... It's really tasteful, so well arranged (except the drums maybe)à and played. cSuch a subtle guitar sound, and the playing is immacualte, and full of soul... The main melody was used several times in pop and rock, but he gives a new dimension to it, really. And the solo taken from a keyboard concerto also by Bach is fantastic and played with a brio you rarely find. What a player, what a subtlety... I can't believe he abandoned the classical influences... I think he once said he doesn't listen to classical anymore.... That completely escapes my mind. but he's an absolutely awesome guitar player with his own sound and style and composes great rock tracks as well. Vinnie is one of the most talented musician and guitar player of the 4 last decades. I can't believe his first LP came out already 32 years ago.
Yes, Vinnie did a real masterpiece here... I love JS Bach and sometimes classical arranged in a rock context isn't the same but he captured perfectly the essence of this Aria (actually, I only like the Aria part of the Orchestral Suite nR 3, these aren't among my favourite pieces by Bach, but he used that melody elsewhere, anyway). I would only change the drums, the snare drum part/sound isn't soft enough. Plus the solo he added taken from a keyboard concerto is just fantastic ! What a player, what a subtlety. I can't believe he abandoned the classical influences. I think he once said he doesn't listen to classical anymore. That completely escapes my mind.
@@Marctull66 I met Vinnie at a guitar show in Manchester a few yrs ago. He was very subdued and I could tell he didn't want to talk about these times. I saw a real sadness in his eyes and his body language. Its funny but I instantly knew he felt his music had not reached the heights he had trained himself for and was disappointed. It left a real negative imprint on my mind because I adore him and his music so much. I know he turned away from Classical in an instance because it is where the real magic is for melody. This is why he plays bluesy lines these days. Its sad..very sad but you had to be there to understand all this. As far as I'm concerned he is one of the greatest guitar players and a wonderful expressive musician but like Lennon and Brian Wilson they will go to their graves thinking it wasn't enough even though they changed my life forever and I can NEVER repay them EVER!
@@MICKEYISLOWD : thank you very much for your comment and I see that we agree. We could discuss easily over the deafness of some rock critics abut classical influences by the way.... I shook hands with Vinnie after the first tour of UFO with him, and he signed the Cd sleeves I had brought with me, but I couldn't talk a lot to him, alas... It's weird, but he published on his facebook page some time ago some mentions of Mind's Eye being very much remembered as one of the greatest instrumental guitar albums ever (I dislike the term "shred", it doesn't apply to him, for me) . I'm glad he doesn't deny this was a good album, but actually, it was much more than good, and Time Odyssey is certainly better.

Vinnie's a greate musician, Malsteen is a good guitarist.
Vinnie Moore is much, much underrated. Is one of the bests guitar players of all time, imo.

내가 고등학교1~2학년때 들었던 vinnie moore 20년이 아니라 정확히 30년전 노래네요. 세월이 빠르죠?
