For those who are confused on why he doesn't start with a bald guideline is because that method is a somewhat beginners method. It leaves too much lines to work with; he says multiple times he starts with higher guards to control the fade.. it's his "secret" to a blurry fade
You can do this fading up also. Its just preference. He actually "wasted" some time by using this fade down method cause he ended up having to push the fade up higher to lighten it up more because he didnt go high enough with certain lengths the first time. Fading down is a great method but unless you fully master it.. On these lower type fades you will end up taking more time because you have to really know how high to go with every step or you run the risk of having to do the fade basically twice instead of once then detail.. it ends up being fade twice then detail instead of doing your steps once then detail. hope that makes sense.
it's not a beginner method it's just preference. Whatever order you do it in or where you put the guides it's still the same techniques at the end of the day
Bro I Tried This Process With The PDR Fade Blade , All I Can Say Flawless Technique My Low Fades Have More Detail Now .! Its A Process .. But Just Know Its Worth It .!!
Eevee His Blend came out dope! But definitely not advanced. He used the 1 1/2 to blend from the 2 guard down to the 1, then did more steps just to remove it with the half guard in the same exact spot. Not advanced just extra.
LOYALTMAFIA23 well i disagree every fade includes those numbers. the most important part of a fade. second the technique is advance cause when you usually start cutting you fade up wards which seems easier for people when learning. downwards is a bit trickery due to people can’t see exactly what they are doing and get lost in process for example they are not sure if it’s a 1 guard or a 1/16 in that area due to not having guidelines.
There were unnecessary steps.. there's no need to use the lever for #1 1/2 ( white guard ) because it's a blending guard. With the #1 guard, you don't need to put the lever in the middle, just open and close.
Nice! Where can I find a barber like you in Florida? I ask for a haircut like this and end up getting a combover. I have same length as your client in vid. Havnt been to a barber shop in years and cut my hair, myself.. Time for barber

First of all, this is C L E A N ! 🔥 For us newbies, can someone explain why this method of fading down would be more beneficial than what’s typically taught? That would be starting with bald line and moving up from there. In this video he seems to repeat everything twice. Any input? Thanks!
Yeah so this technique he is using is the really safe way of keeping your low fade really low and retaining as much bulk as possible. You can still do this fading up or using other methods but you run the risk of taking the fade too high. The first steps he does is just getting rid of bulk with his guidelines and then fading the guidelines out by fading down essentially. He goes through it again to detail the fade since its a compressed fade you have to detail it a lot and spread the blend out just enough so it doesnt end up looking like a soup bowl. He would rather control the bulk and get the darkness he wants and fade into that darkness by detailing with shorter guards using corners using the heel of the blade with the half guard as well so it doesnt push the fade too high. Me personally i just take a 1.5 open where i want the hair to be short at fade down with the 1.5 to closed. Make my skin line with your clippers closed so you have more room to work with. Then i just create a half guard blade open guideline 2 finger width then i just fade down from that down to the skin line i made with clipper closed. Only step left is to connect half guard open with 1.5 closed which should be easy. 1 guard open then closed. Then you just use your mirrors and take a step back and look at the fade from all angles. There are going to be dark spots in a very compressed fade. Now you just use the 1, .5, or blade open to remove dark spots in the fade. Not digging in but using light pressure, corners, and the heel of the blade to get them out without making patches or holes in the fade. Easier said than done but this fade is literally all details. You can use thinning shears as well to lighten certain areas up or make the bulk blend into the clippers better like he did in the video. The system you use is just to control the bulk and get the hair to the length you want it at. The actual fade is in the details for this haircut. These fades will take more time to do than a regular fade even for a experienced barber.
there is just watch chris bossio, he does the initial guideline , blade open guideline, 1 open guideline, then fade down from the 1 open to 1 closed downwards , then half guard open down wards and finish off with no guard blade open down to no guard blade closed ..... and above the 1 open guideline standard steps... flick out near the top with a 2 and fade that into the 1 with a 1 and half guard
I started cutting younger brother hair I always have trouble blending the fade guideline I watch videos and they suggest the flick in -out technique but it doesn't work I just end up pushing the guideline higher and it turns into a high fade most of the time I spend on the haircut is on the f'n blend which is ludicrous any tips
yo bro. personally I think it depends on what your using for your first guide line. I suggest that u use your clipper as your first guide line and then your trimmers afterwards. (I'm just assuming you've got both). this way you dont have to flick out and keep the guide line consistent but still dont dig in the line cause it'll be much harder to take out. hope that helps
I'm a barber, I don't have the best experience but I think you complicate yourself by starting with the 1. Because later when you use the 0.5 guard you went high as the 1 and then you had to use the 1 more higher. Personally I prefer to start with the half guard making the first guide line! Even though, you could manage that and the result was very smooth! Congratulations
I agree thats why fading down unless you really master it wastes time especially on these bulkier fades. If you dont know exactly where to end each length you end up having to do the fade all over again basically.
I struggle with the 1/2 guard. I can transition from no guard into the 1/2 guard but transitioning from the 1/2 guard to the 1 guard is always impossible for me. The feel of the guard is a little different than the others. How can I improve this flaw?
Hey brother I had the same struggle when first starting, the key to transition the 1/2 to 1 and so on is playing with the lever while using your corners. Hope this helps
If I’m not mistaken, the 1/2 guideline should be established with the lever open (no guard), and the 1/2 guard should be used only to blend into the 1 on top. I read somewhere that half and 1 and a half guards are blending guards and not to be used to establish lines. Cheers!
Stupid nice blend. I’m no one to tell you how to cut hair but wouldn’t it have been easier to use the trimmer directly after setting in the first guideline with the 1 guard? Then fade down from there?
Its more steps becuase he did a descending fade & then he did an ascending fade just to go over some extra details.. Its not comolicated, its just extra work for some extra quality...
I thought people were just being haters saying this was too many steps or too complicated but that’s not the problem for me. I don’t understand why we started with a 1 just to come in with the half closed and then the trimmer and blend it all out. It feels like I watched you do 3 different haircuts. I’m very detailed and meticulously my self but this seems like it would take too long to complete a cut following this system but to each his own.
@@pickleforknwiggles634 looking back it is cool, i just wish that was maybe included in the title or description as a added benefit of the video… cause each step and stage was actually useful i got more than i was expecting tho based on the title lol
@@tgif3658 There are many useful techniques in this edit for sure. He is really good at teaching as well as cutting. It's just that I cannot make money doing hour long low fades all day.
the cut is fucking fire my g im just a little uneasy about the technique it just seems like it would take forever im sure theres easier techniques for people who cant fade like this. but as long as the end result it there!
I’m sure you could have made a guide with a 1 1/2 where you want the fade to transition to dark, the simply fade from the bottom up to that 1 1/2 guide. Cutting the same area multiple times just waist time 🤷🏻♂️
For those who are confused on why he doesn't start with a bald guideline is because that method is a somewhat beginners method. It leaves too much lines to work with; he says multiple times he starts with higher guards to control the fade.. it's his "secret" to a blurry fade

this is more advanced technique, fading downwards is a better option.

It’s a great haircut but I’m my opinion you’re taking way too many steps to complete a low fade

Re-signed with Top Rank to avoid Errol Spence Jr. really? If i don’t put the guard in the middle between open/close i can still see a shadow...

I would love to see how you do a burst fade
The machine i got has different numbers that I can switch to. But it doesn't have a lever. Can I still use that
Technically its possible...kinda, but its not the same. Get a cheap pair of wahl designers or something for $40-50. The lever makes the blend smooth.
Thanks... Your video..

Ridiculous blurred blend. Thanks for the thorough explanation!! 👍👍

You literally went high with the half blade removing the prior fade and having to redo it.
Exactly. He did like 3 fades removing the prior one each time.
Thought I was crazy for a second based on the thumbnail. Nice cut, but he faded the same area three times.
Thus using the same guards again and repeating. Worst technique I've seen.
