I’m 64 years old just started playing 8 months ago I’ve only Played 1 2 NL I always start with a mindset to have a great time I’ve watched thousands of hours of poker on u tube and play at least 5 times a week at the Casino I’m getting a lot better. I must say I’ve had five strokes and my mind has really slowed down poker really helps me. Thank you and all the poker volgers that have helped me on my Journey god bless you all
I have a good buddy, we started playing professionally at the same time, he still plays professionally, usually 5 - 10 no limit or 10-20, I on the other hand have a 9-5 and only play part time and small stakes. I believe it's a mental block I have that my friend does not. I tilt almost 100 pct of the time where he takes his bad beats as information and eventually ends up destroying his opponent. I can't say his name but he's really really good and I am glad he's my buddy. His info is top notch and you remind me a lot about him Alec. Good vids bro
8 minutes in…so so true about training the reaction. Yes it’s unnatural at first, but then becomes natural. That’s true for not just poker, but life as well! Always a pleasure Alec. Good meeting you at EK check-in back in JFK!
I have huge tilt issues. I was properly bankrolled playing nl10 online and was up 70 bucks in the first 2 days. Third day took some bad beats, started losing, and started tilting bad. Started playing in higher stakes "to recover the losses", and lost my entire bankroll in 3 days. I'd love to hear some tips to control my tilt, as I feel it's the main drawback in my game at this point
Hi, i think you have a lot to learn about mental side of poker and i would recommend reading or listening Jared Tendlers first Mental Game of Poker atleast. That book is really helped me a lot and i think so many of the serious poker players can relate with me and have read the book. And if you dont want to read the book there is some good mental game things in TH-cam too, Adam Carmichael is one mental game coach who does good free videos to TH-cam.
In live poker, the main driver of the field is impatience or a bias for action. Secondary to that, guys don't want to look or feel stupid. Online with deep stacks, it's a bunch of nits trying to level you into stacking off with one pair, and some aggro players. Very few players will run big bluffs which are balanced such that 2/3 of the time or whatever they actually do have it. They're either bluffing way too much in most spots, or hardly ever, so you protect your ranges and ask "is he bluffing" and if you don't know, then ask "is he OVER bluffing this spot?" If you're indifferent, tank fold. Because the population is nitty. On the attack, you want to find the pain point where the nit will fold his medium strength hands and leave himself with only traps and nut draws. Make sure you bet big at that point and not after. A barrage of small bets in single raised pots usually gets the job done. Don't value bet any one pair hand in a 4-bet pot, especially oop. Don't worry about your overpairs being outdrawn. Flat AA to a 3-bet, and then x/r and barrel off, he will think you are repping only sets and call off with his overpair. Live... You just play tight and then push your equity whenever you have a made hand or a strong draw. If you have tighter range and you both realize your equity in most large pots, you win. Obviously you still have to fold post when a nit raises you.
There are no prices on the website - does anyone know price for academy or coaching? Any veterans like me out there on fixed income looking to learn and get better? Maybe get a group rate lol
Emotionless poker is vital for playing correctly. keep in mind that statistical odds and probabilities will always prevail over time. Don't play for a day, play for a lifetime
I need some advice friends, I mainly play triple up sit n go's 3 or 7 dollars on ignition but I also like to play MTT's for 5 or 10 dollars, I placed 3rd about a month ago and cashed about 750. 00, I started playing 15 dollar SNG's and 10 or 20 dollar MTT's and sure enough those winnings have dwindled. I've noticed a lot of fishy stuff, like getting 2 pairs on the Big Blind when no one raised and going all in and getting called by an over pair and a draw and I will say 95% of the time I lose to flush, straight or higher two pair, I also notice when i'm down to 4 players in the triple up's or close to the money in MTT's I get dealt monsters in late position only to get pushed all in and lose to a dominated hand. Do I need to fold these monsters in late stages, what should I do? Or is this just variance and do I need to accept it because this variance has cost me about 3/4 my winnings already and it's annoying. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
@@marcoslugo2384 I found some great spots to bluff or semi bluff, I probably ain't the best at hand reading but I am ok. I just don't think bluffing or taking stabs from position is a good thing because I end up bleeding chips I will need as the blinds increase. That being said I've recently placed 38th out of 400 MTT so I am progressing no doubt. Lot's of fishy stuff happens toward the bubble though, I will get Dealt AA or KK and get busted by trips or a straight
