My biggest mistake when I started trophy hunting was only going for the platinum trophy in a handful of my games ... now every game I own I earn as many trophies as I can.
@@isthatyougordon7719 I see man, the thing is, you can always go back. The most important thing is to actually enjoy the time you spend with you games, everything else is not as important :)
I think the big issue is when people start playing pretty much only the 1/2€ games with close to instant platinums. I recently got back into playing and finishing my backlog and found so many games I had already platinumed on other consoles and shitty games I bought on sale just for the easy plats. However, I also got back into Payday 2 which I love, and breezed through the list being a game I know very well and am particularly attached to
@@bengopalmi80 I’m basically the opposite, I only play big games like god of war and assassin’s creed, my only Hindi is Kena, I would hate having 2 minutes games in my account
@@Upazz-vo8kh Well, I mean, I’ll plat an easy game if it’s in my library, and I’ll also go for long, big and hard plats too so long as I had a good time with the game. I loved Payday 2 and already got plat and will likely 100% it someday. What I was saying is leaderboards are worthless, they are full of people with mostly 99% completion rate games, mostly terrible, made just for fools who will buy them for an easy plat
I’ve just realised that I should get platinums only in games I enjoy. Some platinums are literally waste of time for me. I have to remember that my time is a piece of my life and I shouldn’t waste it for some garbage games I don’t enjoy.
To be honest: I don’t mind the mistakes I made. They are part of my trophy hunter journey. Yes, I will never have a 100% completion rate (not even near that) but I am proud. I hate managing multiple accounts, so I stick with my one and only account. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment. It is like a diary with all my flaws and successes. My motivation is to play as many different games to experience things I have not experienced before. Biggest regret is to not play the Uncharted 2 and The Last Of Us Multiplayer (both PS3 versions).
I respect this approach. I am trying to do it myself, but I just can't. I guess what you are doing is gaming and also enjoying trophy hunting with all the positives and without any negatives, that is awesome mate! I do feel you with Uncharted and The Last of Us. TLOU is my favorite game of all time and the reason I got myself a PS3 in 2013, so I am really salty that I'll never be able to get this platinum.
I agree with everything you said there, especially Tlou multiplayer. I must have completed the story ten times on PS3 but never thought about the multiplayer at the time. It just wasn't my thing back then.
I completed the LOU multiplayer on PS3 and got the platinum but I didn’t do any of the DLC other then the Left Behind. So there are two trophy lists for the new maps they added to get certain kills and downs and then there is the grounded mode. All this came out later so I did have the 100% until 2014 when the remaster came out and they also updated the PS3 version well I played the PS4 also platinum that and did every single dlc that one is 100% but when I went back to the PS3 version they shut the online down. So my LOU on the PS3 will forever be stuck at 69% but at least I got the platinum from it.
Don't sweat on it, we all have a similar problem with unfinished games, especially on PS3. I actually see it as postive to have unobtainable plats on my account. Stops me from being obsessed with 100%, which I rather not have those chains and just enjoy my games. That 100 percent obsession is silly, gaming should never been turned into a job which it feels like it is for some people.
Yeah, you are 100% right! It doesn't mean that it doesn't bother me, but gaming should be fun, and obsessing over completion can make it annoying. It just really bugs me to see those games, I am trying to let go though :)
Yeah look it does bug me in some way too, but really I have better things to worry about. I really think one day either Sony will allow u to delete trophy sets, similar how you have to pay to change username now. Or you may be able play the MP component that has been shutdown on these old games using player third-party rented public servers. Which is already available for some PS3 games like dark souls 1 MP
@@slippingjimy I hope you are right, it's probably not the hardest thing to implement, the question is, would they bother doing that to please a small percentage of their player base. But that's very true, there are indeed better things to worry about, I just have a hard time with letting go.
@@IliyaKunin Yeah I think Sony will allow it only under certain conditions. It does help ween players off their unsupported platforms like PS3 / Vita. But it depends how much they value that analytical data, if they allow people to delete it. I think they also not rather the headache if people accidentally delete or have some jerk friend who thinks its funny to delete their mates whole trophy list. That can be stopped by putting it behind a paywall and two factor authentication.
@@slippingjimy Interesting take, didn't think about that. I actually do wonder will they do that because of a danger of people accidently wiping their list. Have to say though, on one hand I am not sure I would want to delete games from my list at this point. Yes, I like my 100%s, but I guess it's memories. Also, like you said, it's an analytical data for Sony, so it would make sense for them to keep it.
I think the one account with not much completionist is okay. The satisfaction comes from looking at your account and it shows the journey you have through the years
I think it’s pretty silly to care about having 100 completion on every game whenever I look at my friends trophy lists I just like to see what games they really loved usually those are the games they have a platinum in and I find it funny when they almost 0 completion in a game lol
I think it is silly to care about other people caring about 100% completion. I bet there are a lot of things you care about that I would consider silly / not worth it.
I pretty much made every single mistake you made. Got a good 30 or so plats underneath my belt, some I was really proud of. But I was haunted by games like Fifa 17 and Steep that I just knew I would never get (and also didn't want to, accidently played them when I was trying out PS Now). Started fresh about a month ago, using my old account as a blank account. On this one, I want 100% completion with 100 platinums - 13 down so far!
Give Steep another go, it's been made easier to plat with DLC adding extra challenges to the ALPs map which count towards challenge total main game trophies. Still not a easy plat just means you can ignore the hardest wingsuit gold challenges. I'm currently going for the plat see how we go.
When you start avoiding game’s completely for the sake of making your account look nice instead of enjoying the games that’s when shit gets kinda toxic imo
Biggest mistake I ever made was completing a game I actively despised all because I wanted to see how bad it got. If you're miserable completing a game, it's not worth completing, I learned this when I got the platinum for devil may cry 2
My tip is to set boundaries, some games have achievements/trophy that are unobtainable because of online. So I usually just tell myself to not do those if their impossible to get or just takes a bunch of your time. Especially if it's a game I really want to play but I know I can't 100% so I just put boundaries to myself that not doing the online achievements are enough so I don't stress out when I see a missing online achievement. Simply just enjoy the game and don't stress out on missing achievements that you know are impossible impossible get, if you want to play it and it has an impossible trophy then don't stress the impossible trophy. Just think like it doesn't exist.
Im in steam and if there is a online achievement I can’t get because the game is dead I use the steam achievement unlocker to get the online achievements online achievements are just annoying
@@DonquixoteRosinante97 i used to do that as well, but i heard it actually messes with the stats your profile has, its like a fake unlock, at least thats what i heard, if its not true then im going to reinstall that shit
I have a bad habit of playing around half a dozen games at any given point, which makes already grindy games stretch out way too long. I've been slowly getting better at that and trying to start up fewer online games as I complete others over time.
I actually find it really hard to play more than one game at the time, either I finish the game I started or I'll just quit it and come back later, if I decided to play something else first. Also, really trying not to do mp grind if I can avoid it, but sometimes you gonna do what you gonna do :D
@@IliyaKunin I ended up with 5 in-progress games just now. My main game is Control, where I am actively pursuing a plat. Then, I am about 2/3 done with Injustice 2. I can't play a fighting game nonstop, because it just gets repetitive and grindy. Instead, I work on it a couple of hours a week, one trophy at a time. Then I am in the middle of Call of Duty: WWII, because I am playing it with a friend. But I am taking a three week break because he is away on vacation. I started Far Cry 5, because another friend needed help with multiplayer and I was going to play it eventually anyway. I'll get back to it in a few weeks to finish the base game. I am also playing Uncharted: Golden Abyss on my Vita while on lunch break at work. So, it's all over the place.
@@MissTasseled Haha that's a lot of games at the same time! I think that if you can keep your focus you should be fine, I just couldn't. How do you like Golden Abyss btw? I started it a while ago and stopped after a couple of chapters. Need to go back and finish it.
@@IliyaKunin Golden Abyss was hard to get into for me. I started it last year, but dropped it after a few chapters. It's gets pretty alright by the end of it, but the game has entirely too many collectibles. All of the treasures, rubbings, photos, bounties, etc. are just crazy. There are also many weapon-specific kills you need to do for the trophies, and I think those numbers cannot be done without farming - just too many to earn in a natural gameplay.
@@MissTasseled I see, honestly I had trouble with controls, so I kind of lost interest a couple of chapters in. But I guess it's just practice :) Thank you for this detailed answer!
My biggest regret was starting Call of Duty Black Ops 2 back in 2014 but never being able to go back and finish it due to not having a PS3 immediately available at the time. When the Big Leagues trophy became unavailable in 2015 I decided to leave it as a 1% sitting on my profile indefinitely. I also overdid it with easy platinums a few too many times but I don't really regret it too much. I think I have it balanced out with less than 1% completion rates for games.
Oh yeah, he did me a solid with this one :D And it's really hard to get that completion rate up if you have a lot of games to begin with. Thank for the sub, I hope you'll like my future content as well!
This vid has been released a year ago and by now trophy hunting has been ruined anyway by way too much non effort games. These days it’s only about how many foreign accounts you can maintain and how much money you are willing to spend. Please, as you stated, everyone should focus on ENJOYING gaming, not on getting as much trophies as possible or on having an accurate 100% completion account (what of course is adorable if you actually have it). By now I am experienced enough to know what kind of games I like, and I decided only to go for the Platinum trophy if I really enjoy the game AND have the skills to do it without torturing myself. Please, don’t ruin your gaming experienced by being obsessed with (unnecessary) trophy hunting. And if you feel like you must act compulsively about trophies or completion, you should really think twice about trying to cover up for something else. Take care, enjoy your games!
What if getting trophies is enjoyable to them? I hate how people see people getting trophies and automatically think "They are just doing it because they don't enjoy it / they want to show off".
I also did the first mistake. Like i never cared to much about trophys and back then ( 2013 ) when i had my ps3 i was to young to even care about things like trophys. Now i got a lot of ps3 games with 2%-10% and tbh it does trigger me cuz a lot of them are just trash and i know i will never play them again. Feelsbad. Enjoying your content! Keep going :)
I didn't check the trophies on some games, and most of them had difficult, grindy, time consuming and unreasonable trophy requirements. Currently, I'm working on boosting my percentage and I can say that I'm pretty happy with the progress I'm having.
Yeah, boosting completion rate is a slow process, it takes time. But I think that, as long as you are happy with the process and you are having fun with the games you are playing it's worth it.
PS3: Games must be played at the highest difficulty for you to get platinum. PS4: You need to finish the game with the lowest difficulty to get the platinum. PS5: You need to play for 1 second to get the platinum. (autopop) PS6: I'm afraid on the PS6 you might not have to play the game to get platinum.
Yeah, this was a big issue with early ps3 games. I think the main reason is to keep people from reselling it and boosting new copies sales. With ps4/ps5 and massive shift to digital sales they don't need to do it as much
After getting into the nba 2k games I realized im never going to have a perfect profile 😂. I just do as much as I can and enjoy it a lot, learned a lot from my early mistakes I made
I like having unfinished games. It gives you a full taste of what I actually liked playing and what I was willing to commit to. I feel you can tell a lot about a person by their completion rate. I love getting platinums but if I find that a game isn't fun, you'll know by that D rating. Or the flip of the coin, if a game was too hard lol. So many amazing games I'll never complete cough cough... Death Smiles.
I hate multiplayer trophies the most, I enjoyed playing battlefield 5 and decided to give the multiplayer trophies a try. I got 3 bronze, 10 sliver and 7 gold, I missed one silver trophy because it required to play in an online game mode which was removed from the game. :(
I think that as long as it's nothing crazy I am ok with mp trophies, but honestly it's not my cup of tea as well. I'll take a co-op game over mp game any day of the week. And really? I had no idea that bf5 has unobtainable trophy :|
@@IliyaKunin yeah, the trophy was called "hoist the flag" which requires to capture 10 flag in frontlines which wasnt hard at all. There are also a lot of glitches in the game too including trophies as well. I finishing a challenge for a gold trophy, and for some strange reason the trophy wasnt popping, 5 days later it popped out of when I was playing a different game lol.
My mistakes were pretty much all the ones you made. Alot of step to rectify them are the same ones you took, but unfortunately not before I got two now unobtainables on my account (Twisted Metal and Grand Kingdom). I'm comfortable in a place where I now play only what I want, though at times I still gotta fight the urge to replay games that were on my old account, regardless of whether or not I liked them.
I think that it's great that you are in the place of playing the games you enjoy, it was definitely my biggest mistake. I hope you stick with it, because completing game you truly love is great :)
My mistake was wanting to replay the Assassin's Creed series as soon as I got a PS3, some Plat's I'll never get due to the MP grind 😂 I did play some games like ESO which I knew I'd never Plat, but that was on purpose 😅
I actually never played and Assassin's Creed game on PS, so I don't know about it, but I believe you. I was considering replaying Tomb Raider on PS3, but luckily I stopped myself in time XD Also, you have a really good account, I was spying on it the other day ;)
At first I didn't really care much about trophies, first time I got my hand on a console was in 2021 which is ps4 pro my focus was on getting all games I wanted to play but slowly I started to notice the fun and joy when getting some trophies and the fact it also level up your account. So I went to Facebook and join a trophy group and found out that there's a lot of people with this obsession which all started to put me on the road of the trophy hunter. I got hooked up and started buying games that are easy to platinum but felt like its too easy so I went back to play those game I bought, I finished their main story and now I'm doing side quests and grinding some like devil may cry is too hard because it needs some serious hardcore skills to pull those specific level trophies. So what I did is I'm gonna be doing my best to grind those trophies if it's possible for me I'm getting it, if not I'm gonna milk as much trophies from the game and just leave it, one thing for sure I'm getting every penny I paid for, ain't no way I'm gonna throw it.
I trophy hunt games that I like because they are deserving of it and I wanna experience everything the developers asked of me. I don't care about completion rate. If a game sucks I don't wanna finish it.
I only platinum games I love IF I CAN I just love having a big amount of trophies 🏆 unfortunately I had to start all over again went from 3k trophies to only 80 🙁

I am in 2 minds of going all in on my new account. I have 56 respectable plats on my main account like tlou and soulsborne games but I used buy and want to platinum every third party AAA game that released. So I now have an account that has some great plats but a shit load of unfinished games most of which I just don’t want to play or have the time to play let alone plat.
Yeah, it's a hard choice. I was pretty much in your position and decided to just stay with my main account. Not going for 100%, so might as well keep it :)
My trophy list is a mess. I had my account for years before I became interested in trophy hunting. I wish I started a new account when I started getting platinums. I've quite a few games hidden from my account from when an ex played CoD games on my console and seeing how many games I've played but not platinumed now really messes with my OCD 😔
That's a good approach, I think as long as you are having fun with trophy hunting, it doesn't matter what you prefer to be focusing on (easy games, hard games, completion rate, leaderboards, etc.)
@@fatbroccoli8 It sounds kind of silly, but I actually get it. Because trophies themselves become "the game" instead. I have to admit, I even fell into this trap myself at some point, I just decided that it's not fun for me, so I stopped :)
@@IliyaKunin yeah I get why they do it but like you said it’s just not fun and can’t be good for you, I think at that point it has become an addiction. I only get platinums for games that I really like so when I look through my plats I only remember the good times and it’s like a mark of approval. Plats should be special after all
@@fatbroccoli8 This is 100% the best approach to trophy hunting. If you don't have fun there is no point in that. That is why I personally started, it's just hard to shake the completion rate and the leaderboards race.
My mistake is taking it way to serious, to the point that even if i wanted to try a game i just didnt played/brought it because i was uncertain if would be able to get the platinum. Now i only want to get the platinum of games that i really enjoy but the problem is that i have a little of an obsesive personality so it really triggers me how i have games stuck at any percent because i didnt like the game or the servers are down, etc I'm trying to get over it but it is just really annoying for me
I'm the same but I still start random games on my account and I don't hide my trophies, if I don't complete a game it still is there on my account to show that maybe I didn't really like the game. Plus I've been doing some backlog cleanup and I got my completion percentage from 63 to 69 since I started this year and I have to say it's been fun playing some older games that I left years ago and finally complete them. I've seen you talk about Red Dead 1, after getting the plat in Red Dead 2 and falling in love with the game I did all of the trophies from scratch in 2021 (lost my old save file) and it has been really fun except the grind to level 50, I've met some really nice people while boosting the online and the singleplayer was awesome, especially Undead Nightmare, so I would say that you can still go for it now if you're okay with a little grinding in the end.
I did hide any of my trophies as well, I am just much more careful now :) And I agree, sometimes it's fun to revisit games and clean-up your completion, that's one of the reasons I didn't 100% Spider-Man and HZD yet (NG+). That way when I want to play a good game I have the option to visit those masterpieces. As for RDR1, I am not sure why, I played it for about 10 hours or so and it didn't really click with me for some reason. Maybe I should give it a little more time? What do you think?
@@IliyaKunin to be honest when I first played RDR1 back in the day I didn't really enjoy it either, but after playing the second one I really wanted to go back to the first to give it another try and I gotta say it's not half bad, going for 100% game completion and exploring the world and different animals was really fun and I'd reccomend it, also you absolutely have to play the Undead Nightmare DLC, I enjoyed that even more than the original game
The thing is, the second game really puts me off with the sheer amount of time it requires, I mean, I don't mind long games, I just can't really play one game for a couple of months. I might do it on an alt account though, just to see what I am missing out :)
@@IliyaKunin i understand but I also believe that the grind is worth it in the end, I don't usually like playing long games either but I took advantage of the first lockdown to put the hours in, and also I was close to getting 100 platinums, so to have that as a milestone also motivated me, you could only play the story, which is amazing but I haven't really fell in love with the game till I decided to get the 100%, that although grindy as hell it was a blast and a life saver during those long days of staying at home
@@IliyaKunin also I think that you could take things slowly and play other things while you're at it, no reason to play the same game for two months straight, you could take breaks in between to not get burnt out
When I first started caring about trophies, I had my account for almost 6 years, and played all fifa titles, so I had several unobs. Decided to hide everything I couldnt get, and just focus on what I could get. From that day I made sure to never have an unob trophy on my account, but still played every game I wanted to. If I got bored of something, I just quit and started something new, while knowing that I some day would want to go back and complete it. Even though I have over 100 unfinished games on my acc, I "know" I will go back and finish them all some day, therefor im not scared about not having 100% atm and leaving games (for the time) unfinished. Also it makes me not afraid of starting very hard games. I know if I cant complete them now, I will just come back some day when I have the motivation. For example platted downwell (8 or 9/10) few days ago, and started the game 4 years ago
Oh now Downwell is super impressive! GG And I like your approach, I think it's really healthy, you just don't stress about it. I wish I was doing the same thing as well, I am not even sure why I care about completion tbh.
@@IliyaKunin Thanks! Such a huge relief getting it done. Wierd thing is Im obsessed with completion aswell, but for now, it is enough knowing I can do everything
I think it's still healthier than what I was doing, which is forcing myself to finish games I didn't enjoy etc. And in that case, gonna watch out for those mp servers if you have those games on your profile. I would've done the online portion sooner rather than later in the older games ;)
Im basically starting to try to platinum games i really enjoy. If i dont enjoy the game enough to grind it then i just leave it incomplete because i dont really care about the overall stats. I look at trophies just to see which games my brother or friends like so i can have an idea of what kind of games we could play together. And im basically the only one out of my family and close friends who started this platinum thing anyway.
My mistake was being obsessed with 100% competition, some games that I like have a lot of dlc that I don’t want to bug because of the price so I didn’t buy them
@@IliyaKunin I got over it because every time I play a new game it goes down from 100% anyways, I get the platinum in every game so I don’t have to worry about average competition
Just had to pull back on Control and remove it from my system. I'd played myself into a corner and didn't feel like grinding it anymore. Will probably go back it to it at some point as this was my second attempt at playing it and I'd finally connected with the storyline. As well as finding parallels to other games that are more typically me. Which made enjoying the gameplay easier. Just didn't feel like I had the time to keep pounding my head against that wall.
I feel you buddy. I feel like that sometimes but probably have 20,000 hours spend on my account now and would feel like too much of a waste haha plus it tells a story which you wouldn’t have if you started again
That's true as well, I guess there is a lot of history on your account, every mistake is a story in the end of the day. Regardless, I probably will stick with my current account for the near future.
I only care about platinums of games which I enjoy or I have already a lot of time in. Like prince of persia forgotten sands. I didnt really like the game at the time but since I had 70% of the trophies I was like "yeah lets finish this" but if I didnt like the games there was no point in proceeding with the platinum
I have the same regrets. I'm an achievement hunter. When I first made my account I wasn't really that into it. I have old 360 games on my account that I rented in a movie gallery back when it was a thing. a good amount of them are delisted/discounted multiplayer. sucks lol
Oh, the good old times :) I get you, it kind of sucks, but if we look at it from the other perspective, it is your gaming history as well, have to be worth something!
Multiplayer trophies are every completionist worst nightmare, I've completed most of my WWE games but it just sits there below 80% cuz online server is down. Difficulty specific trophies are nightmare too, but at least is possible to obtain.
I don't really care about the completion percent, i put my trophy list in this way, i can play any game i want, but if i got the platinum trophy, it needs to say 100 percent complete, even if that particular game has 10 dlc's, and i say to myself every game that has a story to it, i need to finish it, but dont go for the platinum if its to hard, and the completion rate for that game has to be atleat 20%, as for multiplayer only games, i don't care i have World of Tanks on my account at 5% and i won't bother ever playing the game again, because i did not like it at all, and happily it doesn't have a story tied to it, because its a multiplayer only title. That's how i go about my trophy list!
I always believed that this is the best way to enjoy trophy hunting, it's better not to obsess over completion rate, I just can't help myself :D That actually prevents me playing certain games from time-to-time, or forces me playing them on my alt account
Whenever I see someone with a high gold trophy stat compared to their silver trophies, I know they have easy plats. It is very difficult to find top players who don't have tons of easy games. On PSNP, I had to go through half or so of the total pages on the leaderboard before finding people without any of those easy plats ($1 games / plats that take 1 hour. An "easy" plat could be anything.)
I was only on Xbox for a solid decade and stopped at around 315,000 gamerscore due to switching full time to PlayStation at the end of 2019. It was tough to abandon that progress on the Xbox and wish I could have put that decade of time into the PlayStation instead. But where I’m at now with being on PlayStation for around 2 years? I currently have 300 plats and will shortly surpass my Xbox progress that took me 10 years roughly to get. I feel where I started so late though with trophy hunting cause I spent so much of that time hunting achievements. It feels like I’m basically just playing catch up to everyone else now so I gotta go extra hard to get anywhere’s decent with the leaderboards.
@@IliyaKunin all the tons of great exclusives I really wanted to play like marvels Spider-Man and God of war plus many more. Also all my friends were on PlayStation. The only reason why I actually stayed on Xbox as long as I did was because I just didn’t wanna give up that gamerscore I spent so much time getting, but I’m glad I eventually switched and I’ve never looked back. Plus in my opinion the trophy system is way better then the achievement system.
@@rapturecalf6614 Honestly this is the reason I switched from PC to PS, because of the exclusives, then discovered the trophy system and the rest is history :) And I bet it wasn't easy to leave behind, 300k gamerscore is a lot! Btw, I like PS system more as well, because of the fact that it has those platinum trophies ;)
@@IliyaKunin definitely, I find the platinum gives much more incentive to actually finish the entire trophy list for the game and gives you something to be proud of where as on Xbox if your last achievement was only worth 10 or 20 gamerscore and it was maybe a tough or tricky one to get and you had another game with an easier achievement of the same worth you would have incentive to just disregard it and go for the easier one and maybe not even bother finishing the game with one achievement left because aside from that one lonely achievement there’s no real big thing to get for actually finishing it. Finishing an entire games trophy list on PlayStation actually has worth to it. Just my opinion though. Also feel free to add my PSN if you like having people to trophy hunt with. It’s the same as my channel name
One of my biggest mistakes in the PS3 days was not using a guide for some of the harder trophies in certain games For example I had no idea how to get certain trophies in Assassin's Creed 2 and I never got the Platinum in that game until the PS4 version
We are honestly really lucky that now guides are super accessible and you can practically find a guide for every single game. That being said, I do like to try to figure out thing on my own, but I admit, I always look up at least a roadmap before starting a game.
As a trophy hunter with now over 200 platinums, and an account made from 2009, with probably a dozen (if not more) unobtainables, I honestly don't care about my mistakes because I had fun while playing those games, or I just didn't care enough to keep playing, and while it will remain a scar forever marked on my account, I kinda like it that way. It's a mark of my journey, as someone who didn't start as a trophy hunter, but gradually became one, and completing an old game can be quite satisfying as well - currently my oldest game is Alice: Madness Returns, which almost took me 12 years to finish. By all means though, I can see the appeal of a 100% account, and I have an alternate account myself for testing purposes (not the same kind: I occasionally write guides, so I use it to re-platinum a game if necessary, or to test new bugs or etc). But I can't see myself actually putting my effort into a new account. I'm happily satisfied with my imperfect account and I usually don't care if people think my measly 56% completion rate is low, as long as I have fun. However, I do have to agree with these points if that's what you're after: if you really want a flawless account, don't make these mistakes!
i'm a trophy hunter/completenish but I only play games I want and look at what % of all the games I got done instead of just trying to rack up easy platinums
Biggest Mistake: Being able to go after multiplayer trophies but putting them off and eventually losing track of them. Now they are unattainable and I lost like 5 platinums on games where I was really close to the finish line and only required a few hours of grinding, like NBA 2K20, Modern Warfare, and Mad Max.
All the base online trophies in RDR1 can be done with 2 players except for the Posse Up trophy. Several of the online dlc trophies can be done with 2 players as well.
I don't know why, I just couldn't get into this game for some reason. Still didn't do the online. Or offline. I have 1 trophy in this game and it really annoys me...
Fair enough, I didn't care as well until about a year ago. Trophies have negative aspects as well, if you start obsessing about completion, but in their casual form I really believe that they can enhance your gaming experience and push you to try new game styles, difficulties or modes you wouldn't attempt otherwise. That being said, it's still a personal choice on whether you should care or not :)
I really hate when a trophy list has mostly straightforward trophies, but a select few very difficult or god awful trophies. Recently, happened to me in Rise of the Tomb Raider because of the score attack trophies, so that game's trophy list completion is staying at 88%.
I did actually start it on a blank account for this reason, if I get it - great, if not than whatever, at least I enjoyed it :) And yeah, hate it as well, there are a lot of great games ruined by one or two trophies.
I thought I was going to hate the score attack mode, but it actually wasn't that bad. You can look at the leaderboards and copy the cards used. Toxic arrow is your best friend in the combat levels. I only really had difficulty on the copper mill level, just because the score limit is so high. But everything else is super easy. You can do it! 😁
The worst mistake anyone can make is playing a game that has online achievements/ trophies.. I'll go out of my way to actually check if a game has them and totally avoid it unless I think they are doable. Which can actually ruin things for me as I might be generally interested in playing the game.. I think achievement hunting can be a curse sometimes. Acht who cares.. Im at 218k and not stopping now. 🤣
Haha, I feel you man! I honestly really dislike online trophies as well, that being said, I don't mind when games just ask you to try it out. I guess it all comes down to implementation :) As for trophy/achievement hunting, couldn't agree, it can really ruin a game for you, but I do think that positives outweight the negatives, as they do make you to experience games in an entirely different way, something that I really enjoy. Also, gg on 200k+ Gamerscore (if I understood you correctly), that is pretty significant, very nice :)
@@IliyaKunin Yeah you're right mate, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. Achievement hunting is like a drug for me haha. And I have OCD so if I can't platinum a game or get my full 1000gs, it really annoys the shit out of me, seriously!! I like to balance it up.though.. For every piss easy disney game I've completed, I have an "Evil within" Akuma mode, just to balance it out.. I like my fair share of hard games too.. Love a challenge! Where you from, brother? Country I mean? Anyhow, great video, mate! Much 💙 and respect from a 39 year old 🏴 achievement hunter. Subbed!!!
I like the balance, I did my fair share of easy games as well, but I don't mind it too much, as long my list don't starts to look like it only has easy games ;) And GG on Evil Within, I heard stories about this game, how was it for you? I am originally from Russia, now living is Israel. You? And thank you, I do think that trophy and achievement hunters should be friends, we are doing the same thing in the end of the day, regardless of our platform of choice 🏆 ! Thank you for the sub, hope you will enjoy my work moving forward as well :D
@@IliyaKunin Mate that's awesome! Me and my gf hope to visit Russia at some point.. We looked at Moscow for a few days but the prices were crazy! Hear its a pretty expensive place to visit. Plus I'm actually a big Putin fan 🤫🤫 🤣 Evil within is an amazing game, bro. The graphics ain't too hot and the controls take a while to get used to but if you want a challenge and at the same time, to shit your pants 🤣 Then defo play it! And yeah, trophies/ achievements.. Its all the same at the end of the day. It just makes a different noise when you unlock it. Haha. No problem, brother! Cheers!
@@scottdj1982 Thanks mate! I actually haven't been back there in almost 20 years at this point, and I do get not being a big Putin fan, pretty reasonable actually haha And I might play it at some point, but to be fair probably not any time soon, have a huge backlog of games to get through first, you know how this is XD And it really is! Awesome to meet like minded people!
I don't want to sound obsessed but yes, I check the trophy list of a game before playing it; if it has unobtainable trophies or DLC I won't buy, I won't play the game. Well, if it's a really really good game, I might think of playing in a different account (difficult for me as my account is not primary in my own console -y'know PS Plus sharing thing).
I play Playstation since Ps1.And i remember the Time before Trophys excist.Playing was more Fun. You could complete a game 10 times in a row and it was still fun.Since Ps3...i get the Platinum and play the Game never again. Damn i miss the good old times.
I mean, I have to say, I still replay games I have 100% in from time to time. No one is stopping you from doing the same. I replay TLOU at least once every couple of months or so, I replayed GoW, Spider-Man etc. I know what you mean though, but I actually found myself playing games for longer after I started doing trophies. I guess it is really depends on how you decide to play games :)
My issue with the first one is that I want to earn platinums on my main account and also show that I’ve played a game on my main even if I don’t platinum it.
I thought about this when I got back to trophy hunting but I just didn't care about having games unfinished enough. When the first games got trophies back on the ps3 like PAIN and Super Stardust HD I was determined to get them all but then I shifted focus to music and trophy hunting took too much time, then in 2014 I got into Destiny so i rarely played much outside of that, along with having kids has left me with like 80+ games un platinumed, now that I'm back enjoying trophy hunting I realised I couldn't care less, I'll always platinum a game but I may not even bother with DLC. Not worth wiping an account that's probably about 15 years old just for a percentage.
I think that this one is a personal preference. I guess I do care at the moment, but I might not be caring in a couple of years. For me it's more of character trait, I guess I like seeing that 100%, that's all. That being said, I try not to go crazy over it, there are a decent amount of games that I didn't finish and I do accept it. When I started, my account had about 20-30 games that I popped a couple of trophies in them, so it would've made a lot of sense for me, but if my account was 15 years old I probably wouldn't start over too. Too much history there.
@@IliyaKunin that's it, the length of time has me attached to it, along with being the few people with a psn that is only 3 letters (HXY). When they first started dropping trophies into certain games I was so determined to 100% but some of the expectations in games like Pain and SUPER stardust were just ridiculous. I have done the exact same with games like watchdog that just didnt interest me after a few hours and are now sitting at 2%
Yeah, but that's the thing, because you don't have a near 100% account it doesn't bother you, so that is actually a positive thing. Because that is the case with my profile as well I don't obsess (too much) with completing games I hate, because they don't have a huge impact on my overall completion.
I dont really care about stats… i just want to finish as much as possible bc i hate that i have so much on my unearned list, but i wouldnt play a game if the plat is unobatainible when i begin
I made mistakes with my own account, but some of my first games on my trophy list are sitting on the bottom, but I can understand that since I was 10 or so when my account was created. But all these years later, I managed to go back and knock out games like LittleBigPlanet 2 (and I was a lucky mate who had gotten the online trophies done before servers went down in may) But there is others like Wipeout HD and 2048 that I will never complete thanks to servers closing and some pinball game that cant be completed due to the trophies being glitched.
I do think that this can somehow show our gaming history and as much as I hate seeing unfinished games on my account I think I am slowly starting to accept them.
My beginning mistake as a Trophy Hunter? 1) Was becoming a Trophy Hunter. It's so hard to let go and just play games for the enjoyment & not worry about trophies. 2) Looking at the daunting trophy guides & basing my decision on the guides as to whether or not I should play or skip a game.
Oh I am guilty of both, so I can definitely relate! I am skipping a lot of games because of it, although I have been playing some of them on either blank or alt accounts. Removes the pressure ;)
@@IliyaKunin I was thinking of doing the same. But it's such a shame that the main account will be nothing but easy platinums. My newer way to look at things is to look at it as a whole, in that: 1) I have played 100's of games on my list. 2) I have many platinums from many genre's. 3) I have over a 70% completion rate. All 3 of those things keeps me from over thinking or worrying about having the almost perfect Platinum Rating. At the end of the day, there will always be people that will overtake you, sooner or later. Is it really worth the non enjoyment, stress, money & grey hairs? But so long as people are happy & healthy 😊
That is a very good approach, something I've been trying to do myself, but I really struggle with it. Just got to get this 100%, you know! I was chasing the leaderboards in the beginning, and a lot of people enjoy that, and it's honestly fine, like you said, as long as people are healthy and happy :)
I don't agree with your first statement, I honestly believe it helps me enjoy a game more, gives me a purpose to replay games and change up how I'd play. Along with thriving on a challenge and the satisfaction of overcoming one I feel like its encouraged me to play games I would have never touched before and some of those I enjoyed so much but could have potentially missed out on
@@HexPanic I agree with you on the points you've made. It was more of a (tongue in cheek) response. In that I & others can sometimes over emphasise stressful trophies over enjoyment in just playing how you would want to (during your initial gameplay).
I have a few games just sitting at less than 5%. Most of them are trophies like, complete the tutorial and stuff then I just don’t play the game. But recently I’ve been trying to play some games I already have and get a few trophies.
I feel you, it's a slow process to get those games done, but I do try it as well from time to time, have a ton of games I did actually go back and finish, makes me feel really satisfied with myself.
From the start I never liked MP, so I usually avoided most games with too much of it. I have a few exceptions, but mostly stayed away from them. I do have several non-100% and only 1 which I tried and bailed out right away but with a trophy. It doesn't bother me that much. I also don't fear leaving a game at 99%-ish if the trophy in question involves way too much effort/time and I don't like that game THAT much. And don't buy DLC that are MP for a game that initially had SP trophies only. I do have a decent +95% completion average and rising. But now I am more careful selecting my games, and since I rarely buy games close to release I easily avoid those SP games with MP DLCs because by the time they are >60% Off most of their extra content is out.
Okay guys, I'm not sure if its happening to all of you or not, but there is one game on my PS4 I haven't played in a really long time, and dont really feel like playing it anymore, and I've also been trying to delete the trophies I had earned for said game, but I cannot find a way to delete the trophies. Im at 2% as of now with these trophies. So my question is if there is any way to delete unwanted trophies from your trophy list. I would really appreciate it if someone can answer my question!
@@IliyaKunin Really? Oh wow...well thats a bummer. Honestly, its really stupid how the trophy system works on the PS4. If only Sony could solve this problem, than everything would be really good. Also, thank you for responding to me! It sure means a lot as I wasn't really clear on the situation, lol 😂
Ive just started out and have 5 100% S ranked. But have another 30 incomplete games and daunted about getting S Ranke. Like Mafia 1 stuck on the race! 😡
Portal 2 is still obtainable my dude, you can play with you steam profile and that counts as a new one. Also I did manage to play with someone new a few years ago.
I didn’t make a new account and I don’t regret it tbh I play so many different style and types of games and I trophy hunt/plat the ones I enjoy the most I also have a few easier plats just to add the plat scores up a bit, I am replaying most games to finish getting the rest of the trophies to hopefully plat them am gonna try get 100 by the end of the year wish me luck 😅
Only mistake I regret to this day is the shovel wear games the put out out of 10 platinums I’ve got 7 shovel wear games.. I can’t stress enough bout them I just want them removed
I hope that by the PS6, they figure out a way to let us remove plats; either because we want to remove games, reset our score or plat a game again. Basically, half my games are those and I have so much regret it isn't even funny.
Number one is half right in my opinion. Having many unobtainable can suck but just creating a new game because games are too hard leads into the direction of "trophy whoring". There are many types of trophy hunters and what really matter for mistake number one is the fact about the unobtainable trophies. Number two is a good advice. Number three: Very Good advice - things to add are maybe to go for online games on your account first (if you want to keep the account). It may take longer at first but in the long run you are avoiding unobtainables. Number four: This can be a good advice (depending on the trophy hunter type). I would recommend researching first before purchasing a game. Number five: Agree there. Maybe a thing to add is, what kind of trophy hunter are you? Are you a so called trophy whore which has enjoyment in collecting as much trophies as possible. The real game are the trophies and not the games themself; are you a completionist or what do you want to achieve by trophy hunting. About me. I start every game which I like and if its to hard to get done then I am simply to bad for it (Like NecroDancer or Super Meat Boy). This answers number five (Play games for enjoyment and then get them eventually done which I enjoy too even if its a huge grind) I am not doing number four because I am shifting do I like this game part in to the research process. If I buy a game I will have to play it (don't like wasting money so I would force myself in playing that game e.g., Battleborn which wasn't too bad) Number 3: I was aware of that but still started them (Far Cry 2, Battlefield Bad Company). I got them eventually done but I should have started them just if I have enough time to get them done. So failed a little bit at number 3 For number 2 I can say I fucked up with Dragon fin soup till someone said: Reaper are you stupid this game is unobtainable. I luckily could delet that game at 0% trophies. I learned it the good way and avoided any unobtainables so far (new ones). For number 1 I have to say I actively did not want to create a new account. I still have a mess on my account but I am working on cleaning things up (getting online done asap while still finding time for other games). I am just mad about having 2 unobtainable games on my account (100% games): Playstation Home with shut down servers and Pinballistik with bugged trophies. The rest of my started games will eventually be completed (Hopefully - I still have many PS3 games with not unlocked online trophies) (Comment for the TH-cam algorithm :D )
Yeah I would say that #1 really depends on the person, same as #5, basically can change from person to person and not necessarily universal rules :) Thanks for sharing your point of view, really like reading those, the main reason for my discussion series :D. I would say that you are probably better in me regarding #4, I do tend to buy games on impulse, that's the reason for my huge backlog!
I have 12 platinums on my normal account and they include days gone, nfs heat and some other longer platinums, I won’t be starting a new account myself
Yeah, I get it. I think that if that's not something you do from the get-go it's really hard to down the line. I know I couldn't as well. Another argument that a lot of people presented against it is, games you didn't finish is your gaming history and having 100% completion rate account adds too much pressure anyway, so it might be even for the better.
@@IliyaKunin yeah I play games I enjoy, going for re3 play and spyro trilogy now because I enjoy them, some games on my account I’ve got 1 or 2 trophies and binned them off because I didn’t like them
@@CorbynsCombo Oh nice, those are some great games! Hope you have a great experience getting those plats! And I do have a couple of those games with 1-2 trophies on my account as well, but I am trying to not let it bother me.
Ive been a trophy hunter since beginning and my trophy percentage is at 86 ish completion rate. Im at 559 platinums . I play pretty much anything lol. Shy away from multiplayer stuff. Its still fun 4 me. Can i add u on. We can boost if u want. I need that tomb raider online crap.
Well damn, 559 plats, that's impressive! I don't really boost anything, unless I really like the game and already did Tomb Raider PS4, but feel free to add me for sure. If you want to boost you can hit me up, just no promises :) PSN - iliya0212
Man i was so stupid to play Playstation all stars battle Royale because the servers were shut down and i didn't knew that, street fighter x Tekken it's still possible but it's so much grindy, i don't care about that but the next PS3 games that i don't have like killzone saga and resistance saga i'm going to play it on my second account for memories and nostalgia, but yeah i don't care if my list it's never gonna be 100% because the majority of my games will be with platinum just 4 exceptions so if most of your games have platinum there it's no need to worry about it. I'm not gonna do max payne 3 or GTA 4 platinum , not running that risk
I think that if it's just a couple of games them it's not a big deal, having 100% account adds too much pressure anyway imo. I did Max Payne 3, but the multiplayer was so boring.. As for GTA IV, I am considering it, but I don't want to commit yet.
Oh I hear you man, hate seeing those on my account. On the other hand, that way I can't get too obsessed with having a 100% account, which is probably a good thing if I am being honest (at least for me)
I'll try and keep this as short as possible. So basically I've had my PlayStation account for over 12 years and looking back at my Trophy Collection, I basically regret buying and playing all those easy 1 minute Platinum Trophy games. My PlayStation Trophy Collection might look impressive at first having over 1000 Platinum Trophies but I've played hundreds of those easy Platinum Trophy games so it's not impressive really. Don't get me wrong I also have decent Platinum Trophies on my account as well. I just should of only of bought and played the games I wanted to buy and play, not because of easy Platinum Trophies. So because of all of this, I was thinking about creating a new PlayStation account? The only problem as I said earlier is that I have like over 12 years of time, effort and money spent on my account. So what would you guys do if you felt the same way? Would you start again? Would you just carry on with your account but just now only buy and play the games you want to buy and play? Any advice would be great.
Online and single player should be separate platinum trophies, because for older games occasionally the server can be taken down and you now have forever on your account, a uncompleted game.
Trophy hunters are smooth brains sometimes. % doesn’t matter, what matters is what games you platinumed and how many impressive ones you have. Having a second account is literally just hiding your dirty laundry, it’s still there and just makes you all look insecure tbh, also if your % is only high cuz you play stuff like mayo, then it’s a worthless % anyway. In the end, if you have 200 platinums and 200 games at 3% completion, that’s still good. It’s weird to have a second account and to play easy games that you wouldn’t play normally. Like yeah, enjoy your telltale or bullet hells or whatever, but don’t play games that suck just to get a plat
Yeah, I get where you are coming from. I am trying to play only the games that I enjoy and I don't play only for the platinum anymore, but what really bothers me is seeing unfinished games and tbh it's not something that I control. That's why I do what I do :)
@@IliyaKunin I think something that will help is realizing that you aren't doing trophy hunting to be at the top of the list on psnprofiles. The people at the top there just play 1000's of the worst possible games in existence, that have easy platinums, and they don't even play any games for actual enjoyment. It's a mindset thing, also we shouldn't miss out or have to do shady second account things to hide it, just because we want to play a game that catches our eye. We as a trophy hunting community need to honestly call out people who obsess about %age, so that it's normalized for having lower ones, so that people aren't feeling obligated to increase them against their better judgment. I choose to never go back to finish some games that are sitting at 3% and stuff, no matter how far into trophy hunting I get. They aren't games I have interest in + I want to normalize it. If anyone ever goes "your % is low", just drop a "yeah, I don't have a fake account to hide it, and I don't play games I don't want to play for easy platinums"
@@IskandarTheWack Tbh, I don't try to get to the top of the leaderboards, not anymore at least, and I agree that people shouldn't shame each other for their percentage. If I am honest, I don't really care about what people think about my completion or even games I play, it's just something that I do for myself and no one else, therefore the second account. Because I love looking at my games and seeing a lot of 100% games in a row. I understand why you don't like that about second account and it's fair, but I do it for myself and that's it :)
I collect trophies because my husband works every day and I stay at home, it literally has become a hobby for me. I only have to stop to make his dinner lol so ..... The completion percentage thing doesn't bother me, the more games you complete, the higher your percentage becomes, no matter how many unfinished games you have. It's just how the math works out in the end. Plus you can cheese your percentage with ACA spamming if you have the money for it.
That is true, I started when I was in lockdown and was bored. Now it's just something I like doing. And you are 100% right about the completion rate, I just like to see those 100% in a row, it's not necessarily about the completion percentage for me per-say :)
@@petarjuric5828 ACA arcade games, the same trophies in all 4 regional stores and a large number of the trophy is idiotic like, change the brightness settings or look at the leaderboard, or read the tutorial, complete practice mode etc On google it says every region has about 100k points each, so 400k in total but every game costs 5 dollars so... all those points without a single platinum between them, Ikemenzi has almost half of them
@@IliyaKunin I made up my mind that I was going to use psnprofiles alphabet rating, and just make sure I get an A-rating for everything at a minimum, it brought me inner peace, like with ninja gaiden 3, omg I hate this game, I will A-rate and delete.
Well for me, completion rate is not important. It doesn't really matter for your rank if you weren't going to finish the game anyway. And other than that I'm not going to abandon a 13 year old account with 2000 friends or play a bunch of games on a second account. Honestly the fact that I've gone 13 years with 0 bans is more impressive than any platinum :)
That is totally fair, I guess I probably should've phrased it better. When I started, I only had a couple of games and absolutely no emotional attachment, so it was a mistake for me, but it's not necessarily a mistake for other people. And nice haha, here to more fun gaming years with your account!
Im happy I made a new account when I got my PS5 last year, I have 100% completion on 30 games, and I only ever start games I intend to complete 100%, It doesnt matter if theyre easy or hard/grindy. Its the challange of completing the game that I enjoy in the end. My most regretful platinum was darksiders 1, and witcher 3 wild hunt. those games were not fun to complete. Made the gameexperience a lot less enjoyable.
Just earned my 100th plat and my completion rate is at around 59%. I did the exact same mistakes as you, so I can heavily relate to this video. I really want to make a brand new account where I have like a 90%+ completion rate and start playing games on a dummy account first before I decide to trophy hunt with them, just so I know I will enjoy them enough to go for the plat. However, I also want that account to have no easy games what you can platinum in an hour or less. I want them to be actual games and not a cash grab. But, the only thing stopping me from doing this, is that reobtaining all the platinums I'm proud of again on a new account would be insanely tedious, time consuming and very difficult. Because, on my actual account, I have some platinums I'm super proud of, that took me hundreds of hours to obtain and I don't feel like going through that hell all over again. Yes, I could easily increase my completion rate if I make a dummy account to play games I know I won't go for the platinum on, like you said, but I've formed some sort of an attachment to the account I have. I want it to be a genuine account where it has (most) of the games I have played whether I completed them or not. I say "most" because there are very few games I have hidden from my account for one reason or another. But great video, anyway!
Yeah, I am at the point when there is no way I am starting over, just the thought of redoing some of those plats is making me nervous. Honestly, I am just trying to not stress too much about it, but not going to lie, it's still bothering me. Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it :)
Final fantasy 15 did us dirty. They moved a set of multiplayer trophies over to its own list, leaving the original list behind. You can do the DLCS and get the main game trophies no problem, but you can never 100% that game anymore. I also have dead star, which just died. I'm trying to just be satisfied with what I have and set a bunch of my ps3 era games to hidden. I also really regret start any of the crash bandicoot games. Difficult platformers make me swear more than any other game around.
I’ve got 149 platinums n I have gran turismo 5 on my list I wouldn’t mind but I don’t even like it I got it cuz I brought a ps3 of eBay n when I synced my trophies it was on there cuz the person didn’t wipe the ps3 properly so now it bugs me really bad but I don’t wanna start a new account cuz I’ve got mad max platinum on there witch u can’t get n platinum to last of us remastered n tomb raider n assassin’s creed 4 black flag n gta 5 o n I have the platinum to rayman legends
My only regret is my triple stack of sound shapes with the ps3 and ps4 versions being auto-pop from back in 2014. Auto-popping is worse than the quick/easy plats as it absolutely kills the value of the ps5 version of the platinum, for no money and almost no effort. Sure, I have a couple easy games on my 100% account, but I've kept them to the Vita, where a quick easy play is ideal for the handheld, and makes it easy/fun/nice to trophy hunt while on a longer drive or as I lay in bed.
Yeah, actually got a Vita as well, it's really convenient. And btw, I don't really like auto pop as well ,but I did it in the past, so I do understand the appeal. Now a days I would replay the game and auto pop only if there is a grind or collectibles or something like that.
@@IliyaKunin great point. I'll likely replay miles morales on ps4 to stack the plat , maybe another game like mlb the show. Something I enjoy running through, but no more autos. Guess I should try and hide the stack.
What mistakes did you make when you were first starting out? Let me know, I am curious :)
Playing PS3
I personally love the PS3, I think it's a matter of games :)
Playing a few easy games such as telltale
Caring and thinking about stats is when trophy hunting goes wrong lol
That is very true, I just can't help it personally :)
I think the big issue is when people start playing pretty much only the 1/2€ games with close to instant platinums. I recently got back into playing and finishing my backlog and found so many games I had already platinumed on other consoles and shitty games I bought on sale just for the easy plats. However, I also got back into Payday 2 which I love, and breezed through the list being a game I know very well and am particularly attached to
So true
Good mindset.
Exactly.
Gaming is for fun. Remember that.
The satisfaction comes from looking at your account and it shows the journey you have through the years
Definitely! It's like your personal gaming history book!
Your #5 hits home. Recently I felt I was playing games for the wrong reasons, just wasting time and money. Need to find a balance.
I agree, balance between fun and trophies is the name of the game
@@IliyaKunin yes I play the game for the game like cods and gtas then come back, like nearly being done with gta 5 and cod bo3
Do you know each others?
I pretty much made every single mistake you made. Got a good 30 or so plats underneath my belt, some I was really proud of. But I was haunted by games like Fifa 17 and Steep that I just knew I would never get (and also didn't want to, accidently played them when I was trying out PS Now).
Started fresh about a month ago, using my old account as a blank account. On this one, I want 100% completion with 100 platinums - 13 down so far!
Oh wow, mad respect for making the hard decision. Seriously, I couldn't do it. And that's a great goal, you got this, rooting for you :)
Fair point mate. I did force myself to finish a couple of games in the past too, I try not to do it anymore.. I don't think it's worth it.
Great tip! I completely agree :)
But I guess it's just practice :)
Thank you for this detailed answer!
PlatinumBro sent me
With me I didn’t start a new account so my completion percentage isn’t that high. Good Video mate definitely worth a sub !
Oh yeah, he did me a solid with this one :D
And it's really hard to get that completion rate up if you have a lot of games to begin with.
Thanks for sharing :)
Appreciate the support, it means a lot!
@@IliyaKunin Exactly what I was thinking about. It feels more meaningful as an experience.
@@lefterisserras9151 Yeah, I try to play for fun more these days. It just happens to be the fact that I love completing games I enjoy :)
PS3: Games must be played at the highest difficulty for you to get platinum.
PS4: You need to finish the game with the lowest difficulty to get the platinum.
PS5: You need to play for 1 second to get the platinum. (autopop)
PS6: I'm afraid on the PS6 you might not have to play the game to get platinum.
PS3, add must contain awful shoehorned multi player trophies to every game. So have play this game and only this game for rest of your gamer life.
Yeah, this was a big issue with early ps3 games. I think the main reason is to keep people from reselling it and boosting new copies sales. With ps4/ps5 and massive shift to digital sales they don't need to do it as much
Go for platinums on games that you truly enjoy and you are going to feel great
Great advice! I 100% agree!
This. I dont see the point in platinums in random games just for the sake of having more trophies

True!
Yes sir! Thanks for using my comment in the video boss!
Well, thank you for agreeing to that :)
My mistake was wanting to replay the Assassin's Creed series as soon as I got a PS3, some Plat's I'll never get due to the MP grind 😂
I did play some games like ESO which I knew I'd never Plat, but that was on purpose 😅
I actually never played and Assassin's Creed game on PS, so I don't know about it, but I believe you. I was considering replaying Tomb Raider on PS3, but luckily I stopped myself in time XD
Also, you have a really good account, I was spying on it the other day ;)
Sony should allow players to remove trophy lists
Hopefully, by the PS6.
I think it's a good approach, to just enjoy the games you want to play without burning yourself out :)
I trophy hunt games that I like because they are deserving of it and I wanna experience everything the developers asked of me. I don't care about completion rate. If a game sucks I don't wanna finish it.
That's probably the best reason to trophy hunt, just as a love letter to the games we enjoy
My thoughts exactly man...
I only platinum games I love IF I CAN I just love having a big amount of trophies 🏆 unfortunately I had to start all over again went from 3k trophies to only 80 🙁
That is a good approach in my opinion. Why did you start over, if you dont mind me asking?

So I now have an account that has some great plats but a shit load of unfinished games most of which I just don’t want to play or have the time to play let alone plat.

I don't care about my completion. Only thing I care about is getting platinums on games I enjoy
That's a good approach, I think as long as you are having fun with trophy hunting, it doesn't matter what you prefer to be focusing on (easy games, hard games, completion rate, leaderboards, etc.)
Some crazy people play games they don’t even like just for a platinum

@@fatbroccoli8 This is 100% the best approach to trophy hunting. If you don't have fun there is no point in that. That is why I personally started, it's just hard to shake the completion rate and the leaderboards race.
My mistake is taking it way to serious, to the point that even if i wanted to try a game i just didnt played/brought it because i was uncertain if would be able to get the platinum.
Now i only want to get the platinum of games that i really enjoy but the problem is that i have a little of an obsesive personality so it really triggers me how i have games stuck at any percent because i didnt like the game or the servers are down, etc
I'm trying to get over it but it is just really annoying for me
Yeah, I totally get it, I do suffer from it a bit too
Same problem
I did hide any of my trophies as well, I am just much more careful now :)
And I agree, sometimes it's fun to revisit games and clean-up your completion, that's one of the reasons I didn't 100% Spider-Man and HZD yet (NG+).
@@IliyaKunin also I think that you could take things slowly and play other things while you're at it, no reason to play the same game for two months straight, you could take breaks in between to not get burnt out
Not playing an awesome game just because you can't platinum is insane
GG
And I like your approach, I think it's really healthy, you just don't stress about it.
@@IliyaKunin yeah ofc. I am, and finished most of the old ones, especially ps3 games, a long time ago, so feel like I can relax now

I look at trophies just to see which games my brother or friends like so i can have an idea of what kind of games we could play together. And im basically the only one out of my family and close friends who started this platinum thing anyway.
My mistake was being obsessed with 100% competition, some games that I like have a lot of dlc that I don’t want to bug because of the price so I didn’t buy them
I feel you with that one, it really bothers me as well, but I am trying to slowly get over it
@@IliyaKunin I got over it because every time I play a new game it goes down from 100% anyways, I get the platinum in every game so I don’t have to worry about average competition

I was going to plat mad Max but the servers were shut down
@@Sic_Shawn Sorry to hear that, hate when that happens :(
Before this video I thought I'm the only one that have this issue
I always believed that this is the best way to enjoy trophy hunting, it's better not to obsess over completion rate, I just can't help myself :D
That actually prevents me playing certain games from time-to-time, or forces me playing them on my alt account
Top trophy hunters boost trophies with $1 games , so sometimes OCD completiones can happen.
Not a big fan of those personally, but I do like my completion rate high :P
Whenever I see someone with a high gold trophy stat compared to their silver trophies, I know they have easy plats.
It is very difficult to find top players who don't have tons of easy games.
On PSNP, I had to go through half or so of the total pages on the leaderboard before finding people without any of those easy plats ($1 games / plats that take 1 hour. An "easy" plat could be anything.)
This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone mention completion rate
There are some people who really care about it, me included. Obviously whether it's important or not is highly subjective.
Do.....do you not view your trophy list / other's trophy lists?
The completion percentage is right next to the game.
Thank you for these tips!

The only reason why I actually stayed on Xbox as long as I did was because I just didn’t wanna give up that gamerscore I spent so much time getting, but I’m glad I eventually switched and I’ve never looked back. Plus in my opinion the trophy system is way better then the achievement system.
@@rapturecalf6614 Honestly this is the reason I switched from PC to PS, because of the exclusives, then discovered the trophy system and the rest is history :)
And I bet it wasn't easy to leave behind, 300k gamerscore is a lot!
@@rapturecalf6614 Very true! This is my take on it as well. And will do mate!
One of my biggest mistakes in the PS3 days was not using a guide for some of the harder trophies in certain games
For example I had no idea how to get certain trophies in Assassin's Creed 2 and I never got the Platinum in that game until the PS4 version
We are honestly really lucky that now guides are super accessible and you can practically find a guide for every single game.
That being said, I do like to try to figure out thing on my own, but I admit, I always look up at least a roadmap before starting a game.
I'm beginning to trophy hunt on my main account I don't care about anything but having fun and getting that platinum
That's great! Very healthy approach :)
I hope you will enjoy this hobby as much as all of us here!
@@IliyaKunin thank you
My current account is my brothers old account so there is a bunch of unvisited ps3 games, and I can’t start over because i have 79 plays at this point
Oh yeah, I couldn't bring myself to do it with 40. Now I have 76 as well and no way in hell I will be starting over!
I like that approach, this is what I am trying to do as well!
Oh, that one stings to hear :(
Exactly the mad max one is a single trophy aswell
All the base online trophies in RDR1 can be done with 2 players except for the Posse Up trophy. Several of the online dlc trophies can be done with 2 players as well.
I don't know why, I just couldn't get into this game for some reason. Still didn't do the online. Or offline. I have 1 trophy in this game and it really annoys me...
@@IliyaKunin There should be a way to delete trophies period. We wouldn’t have unobtainable platinum trophies on our profile anymore.
@@lukeskinwalker922 I really wish it was possible :(
@@IliyaKunin Why did Sony not make deleting obtained trophies possible?
@@lukeskinwalker922 I wish I knew :(
I never cared about trophies, I always played games for the experience.
I did actually start it on a blank account for this reason, if I get it - great, if not than whatever, at least I enjoyed it :)
And yeah, hate it as well, there are a lot of great games ruined by one or two trophies.

Great platinums, you should be proud!
I guess it all comes down to implementation :)
As for trophy/achievement hunting, couldn't agree, it can really ruin a game for you, but I do think that positives outweight the negatives, as they do make you to experience games in an entirely different way, something that I really enjoy.

And it really is!
Oh yeah, even though this video is a bit older, I still definitely do that as well
I just started out I lm thinking about doing Skyrim as it's my favorite game and I already beat it once
Amazing choice! I hope you are going to enjoy it!
I made new account , my old account i had 60 platinums I ditched that account because some of them i used exploits and glitches .
Tough call, I respect that!
Understandable to be fair. I am trying to stop caring this much these days as well, but unobtainables are definitely a bummer..
I made mistakes with my own account, but some of my first games on my trophy list are sitting on the bottom, but I can understand that since I was 10 or so when my account was created. But all these years later, I managed to go back and knock out games like LittleBigPlanet 2 (and I was a lucky mate who had gotten the online trophies done before servers went down in may)
But there is others like Wipeout HD and 2048 that I will never complete thanks to servers closing and some pinball game that cant be completed due to the trophies being glitched.
My newer way to look at things is to look at it as a whole, in that:
1) I have played 100's of games on my list.
Im new to trophy hunting and for a year i had only 3 trophys. So some months ago i changed it
We all started from somewhere, I hope you will enjoy it just as much as I do! Good luck on your hunt!

Just hide the game on your PSN account and it won't show in your profile/PSNP profile?
Yeah, definitely possible, I just don't personally like this option.
Biggest mistake was spending 10k hours on a single game when I could have done so many games in that time :(
I never had this type of experience, but I get what you mean :(
10k?
I'm guessing it was an online game.
I have to add that a 95% completion rate is way more than decent ;)
Okay guys, I'm not sure if its happening to all of you or not, but there is one game on my PS4 I haven't played in a really long time, and dont really feel like playing it anymore, and I've also been trying to delete the trophies I had earned for said game, but I cannot find a way to delete the trophies. Im at 2% as of now with these trophies. So my question is if there is any way to delete unwanted trophies from your trophy list. I would really appreciate it if someone can answer my question!
Unfortunately, now we only can delete lists with 0 trophies, the moment you unlocked even 1 trophy it's stuck on your account :(

This answers number five (Play games for enjoyment and then get them eventually done which I enjoy too even if its a huge grind)
I am not doing number four because I am shifting do I like this game part in to the research process. If I buy a game I will have to play it (don't like wasting money so I would force myself in playing that game e.g., Battleborn which wasn't too bad)
Number 3: I was aware of that but still started them (Far Cry 2, Battlefield Bad Company). I got them eventually done but I should have started them just if I have enough time to get them done. So failed a little bit at number 3
For number 2 I can say I fucked up with Dragon fin soup till someone said: Reaper are you stupid this game is unobtainable.
The rest of my started games will eventually be completed (Hopefully - I still have many PS3 games with not unlocked online trophies)
(Comment for the TH-cam algorithm :D )
Yeah I would say that #1 really depends on the person, same as #5, basically can change from person to person and not necessarily universal rules :)
Thanks for sharing your point of view, really like reading those, the main reason for my discussion series :D.

I agree, although I don't think they would even do a separate platinum just for that, but it should at least be dlc when it makes sense

@@IliyaKunin I made up my mind that I was going to use psnprofiles alphabet rating, and just make sure I get an A-rating for everything at a minimum, it brought me inner peace, like with ninja gaiden 3, omg I hate this game, I will A-rate and delete.
That is honestly probably a healthier approach. I just like to try either get the plat or 100%, but I am letting go more easily those days.
@@IliyaKunin Oh so that's what you meant. Then yeah that's totally different lol I understand that. And thanks! You too :)
Always remember, no one will care about your trophies. It's only for YOU. Enjoy gaming dude.
I mean, I probably wouldn't hide it, but it's up to you man. I try not to judge profile too harsh for easy games, unless it *only* has easy games.
