Californias Cajon Pass has long been a favorite destination for countless railfans from around the world. The first line was built by Santa Fe in 1885 and years later the Southern Pacific constructed its own line through the pass. Today, Cajon is busier than ever with more traffic than the two lines can support. So, after several years of careful planning, BNSF broke ground in 2007 for a third main track linking the 15.9 miles between Keenbrook and Summit.
Pentrex brings you the story of this third track construction from beginning to end. Well take you back to the start of the project and show you the process of cutting new slopes and embankments; moving millions of cubic yards of earthwork and rocks, building culverts and retaining walls, eliminating two tunnels, creating five new bridges, and track laying. It was a massive undertaking, as youll see during the first portion of our show.
Then we treat you to nonstop action on todays triple-tracked Cajon, traveling from Verdemont to Summit with great before and after footage. A heavy winter storm gave us the opportunity to bring you rare, fantastic snow scenes. As a special treat, weve included Bonus Footage featuring a cab ride from Blue Cut to Summit. If you thought seeing dual movements on two tracks was a thrill, wait until you see the screen filled with the excitement of three trains operating simultaneously on three tracks! Triple Track Cajon delivers the kind of railroading adventure that you will enjoy time and again!

This is a Great Location that every Railfan on the planet should see! Its well worth the trip boys and girls! UP and BNSF put on a big show here. I also feel lucky to have seen the old Cajon with SP and SF running High Nose Units and Caboose's through the tunnels and up the grades. Even a lone Speeder at dawn looked great working the grades of Cajon! Cool looking video guys. Thanks, Kev from Canada.

Cajon needed it every day UP and BNSF haul trains from ICTF Long Beach to Barstow and this area has been congested. in the old days BNSF operated from Ono to Devore on one track. above the tunnels was the UP Mojave Sub which connected to the BNSF at Keenbrook. this area was the largest bottleneck in the nation and when ICTF Long Beach grew to it's current size UP and BNSF could not handel the trains. to fix this UP and BNSF removed the tunnels and installed a second track on the UP at Devore to Keenbrook where it connects to the UP Colton Sub. on the BNSF track was constructed from Devore to Blue Cut and from Cajon Summit to Silverwood where it connects to the Union Pacific. UP has trackage right from Alroy to Dagget Junction BNSF has trackage rights from Keenbrook to Ono with a connection at Silverwood so trains can reach Fresno where they connect to the Union Pacific.

I picked up this production about 4 years ago and I remember watching it once. I was rather disappointed at the fact that if I remember correctly, there were never actually any three-way meets in the whole video. I found the description quite misleading, although it definitely still had some good action and I don't regret my selection. I just kind of wish that it lived up to the whole idea that there were three tracks going through Cajon Pass and BNSF was taking full advantage of it more.
    Still definitely a must-watch overall.

On 1989 1994 and 1996 a SP a u.p and SF and sf and the first was the sp in 1989 the sp jumped the tracks at the grid AKA Cajon pass on duffy street and in 1994 a u.p coal train was waiting for the SF to pass but it hit the back of the coal train and in 1996 a SF sumped the track and the other engines was barryed by the cars that came off the tracks and toxic smoke wrose from the air and thats what happend to cajon pass in 1989 1994 and 1996.
