The triple retention is purposed for parachute jumping retention!😉

I used to own (disappeared and I can't find it) regular USMC ka-bar. I bought it 20 years ago for $39 NEW. I did all kinds of crazy things with it. Pried, chopped, split wood. I did actually bend it a little where the blade meets the tang. It never broke. I bent it back and it was straight as before. The point to this story is that Ka-bar's heat treat is spot on! I would get another one but now it's $70. Thanks inflation!

Thanks inflation. now they’re almost $125… Wtf. Seems like price gouging “blame it on covid.” Were getting F’d in the A everywhere

Been on the fence all day about this knife. You’ve sold me on it. Solid review 👌🏼

Zac, it's a great little fixed blade. Not too heavy, not too light. Fantastic grip size, shape and material. Good blade steel.
If you didn't see, I recently got a WWII era Mk1 in for a light refurbish and spa treatment. It was a beautifully knife with wonderful patina. But this newer version is it's superior in every way.

@@jakk222rem it’s a great knife. I did order it that night and have taken it out time to time. I’ve barely used it on anything so it’s in great shape. I’m more of a collector

Awesome review, I just purchased one. BTW I grew up in Northern Arkansas haven't heard 'dadgumit' for a while, made me smile! Thanks! :-)

Hahaha....I don't consider myself much of an old timer but I love "dadgumit." When I was younger I always hated my southern accent and vocabulary. But it has really grown on me in the last few years.
The Mark I is a pretty cool knife. Just the perfect size for a companion knife while giving you that classic American military vibe.

Best Ka-Bar knife!!! My favorite of them all!!!

These are wonderful blades, perfect size, daily carried for a few years, over time the handle looses some of the tackyness and softens ever so slightly. I have used the pommel as a hammer, and it holds up as it was one of the testing criteria for the original design. The only thing that touched the finish was using it for cutting sod.
This one might be worth a revisit if you've been using it.
On the sheath i carry it scout and prefer the pommel strap rather than the one over the guard. The sheath holds up no stress fractures.

Use a knife for knife stuff and it will last generations ...People today are so obsessed about beating knives through logs to test them for "toughness" ...its just silly imo.
I'm not anti baton , making kindling with your knife is useful and actually safer than hatchets sometimes . Just dont beat a knife through 8 inch logs ...That would be common sense in a normal world, but we aint living in a normal world are we LOL.😂

Everything is overboard with YT channels. No matter the content. The firearms channels are even worse. I swear, some of them are as cringe as easter hat shopping with your mother in law.

I handled a lot of Ka-Bar product when I was at SMKW. They have a very solid line of knives. They do a clunker everyonce in a while, but they pretty much have it down to a science. Very consistent quality.

I'm between this one and the Colonial Knife MK-1 version..... from what I have read is the closest to the original........any opinions ?

    • @BazonBlades
      @BazonBlades  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Well, this version is 100% modern era. So if you want a more vintage vibe definitely go with the Colonial.

@@BazonBlades i Believe the Colonial version is 1075....and has a leather sheath......the Kabar has a superior sheath that would help keep it from rusting in an extreme situation.....
