Thank you for this heart felt tribute sir. I feel the same pain as you. I grew up listening to Eric and this may sound weird but I actually had a dream that I was at one of his concerts and the next morning after I woke up, I heard he passed. I've never dreamt about being at his concert before so it was almost like a premonition or something. I have been listening to his music non-stop since that day. There will never be another Eric Carmen.

A well deserved tribute, Matt. I cried last night while I listened to the Rapberries' Capitol Collector's Series Best Of. Rest Easy Eric, you will always be missed but never forgotten. Thank you for all the wonderful music.

Great tribute Matt. I have many of the same memories of the Raspberries in 1972-1973. Go All the Way and I Wanna Be With You both killer power pop songs. His solo stuff is underrated. Great job on this. R.I.P. Eric
I hear you, Matthew. Such a sad loss in our musical lives. I’m only about 2 years older than you so I can relate to the stuff you were talking about… I carried my love for the Beatles/Monkees/Brit invasion//60s Top 40, etc. right through into the 70s and also got skewered most of the time for still liking bands like that , so when Eric & Co. came along, they were my new version of that great pop music… Never lost my love for it/them and never will… Long live Raspberries!
@@matthewstreet1961 I have to say Not to be rude but when Paul and Ringo go I might need a few days to compose myself. I know it’s always hard to say goodbye. Carmen's talents very underrated. The Raspberries were a great band. I put them along with The Sweet, and Badfinger as those great early 70's power pop bands that put out a ton of great tunes. Why are the Raspberries and these other bands not in the Rock Hall?? Eric's first solo album is classic as well. I have it on vinyl and finally ordered it on cd. Have you ever heard the song he put out in support of trying to get Cleveland the Rock Hall. The song is called "The Rock Stops Here!". Great rocker from Eric. I bought a few copies on 45 back then and still have them. Wish I could find this track on cd. Anyway, great tribute Matt!
I share your grief Matt. Gone too soon. Raspberries were my high school years in a nutshell. I had all the Raspberries albums before I had all the Beatles albums. So sad. All the best mate. Gordon from Sydney.

I was a little late to the Raspberry party. I bought "Raspberries Best" in 1977 when I was 15. I was pretty much "All Beatles, all the time" but the Raspberries blew me away and I wore out that album. My favorite song is "Let's Pretend" when Wally kicks that 12 sting in on the chorus.
Thanks for the tribute, Matt! 😢 My city, Cleveland, is grieving again for another Cleveland legend, Eric Camen after previously losing Michael Stanley. I remember hearing bands on local radio like The Choir, The Outsiders, Glass Harp, The James Gang, Circus, Cyrus Erie, just to name a few. To hear about local bands making it after the influence of the Beatles did it for me. My sister played the Raspberries non-stop and they gave me much needed comfort after the Beatles breakup. RIP, Eric and thank you for helping solidify Cleveland's rock and roll roots for all time!❤
I am from Cleveland, and Eric Carmen sounds a lot like Michael Stanley how they were treated I believe because they were from Cleveland. Both Eric Carmen and Michael Stanley wrote incredible music, both should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, but the body of work music they leave behind will last forever, it speaks for itself
Sad day. Eric was great and very underrated. The Raspberries as well😢. I did get to see him with Ringo & All Stars about 20 years ago and he was awesome. His 3 songs he did were “Go All The Way” , “Hungry Heart” & “All By Myself “ . RIP Eric you were great ❤
God bless you Matt, Eric get's a lot of airplay on the radio here in the UK and I'm guessing that there will be a lot of tributes to him on the airwaves here today, a sad day for us music fans across the world...
The first couple of times I heard "Hungry Eyes," it was in a public setting, and the song was being played over a radio that had bad sound quality, and I thought that it was Robin Zander singing. Probably because of that, the song caught my attention. I'll have to give The Raspberries a new listening. Your tribute is touching.
Eric's music also meant same to me in 70s. It was AM radio thumbing its' nose at the upcoming FM music and the dream was still alive that AM could compete as staying power. I was a 60s AM junkie and did not want FM to overtake with the underground music and RASPBERRIES were the perfect sound to keep AM alive.
Tysm for your 😍❤️ beautiful tribute. So many people are dying in their sleep. 💤😴 "All by Myself" is on my playlist. Do you have the raspberry scratch n' sniff sticker on your Raspberry's album? Today 🌞☀️ Sunday, March 17th 3pm PST is the final encore Fab Fourum interview Eric Carmen from 2018 on sxm 📻 Beatles channel 18. Let 🕯️ light perpetual shine upon Eric Carmen. RIP. Amen.🕊️🛐✝️💟💜🤍🕯️
@@matthewstreet1961 Tysm! So cool you have the album with the sticker. I think 🤔 sxm 📻 keeps the old programs for two weeks for the Beatles channel. It's 5 days for the Catholic channel so the timeline varies. Hope you find the excellent Eric Carmen interview. Blessings, BB😄
I loved the Raspberries growing up listening to the transistor radio on the beach in Massachusetts and Go All The Way was always playing. Hit Record was unique too. He was talented and it's sad.
Clearly one of the most underrated composers of the 1970's. He was a "Sir Paul" of the 70's....maybe not as iconic as McCartney, but nonetheless a guy who could write a wide swath of greats--from Love is All That Matters, Runaway, All By Myself, Hey Deanie and Desperate Fools to Go All The Way, Ecstacy, Starting Over and Overnight Sensation. Listen to these songs; I think you will hear what I am saying here😉
His whole family!! His sister was the first female violinist hired by George Czell director of the Cleveland orchestra, studying Piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music at 5.
Love the Raspberries and recently just started replacing their 4 album discography and imho " Side 3" is the most perfect pop album! Ill be playing their albums the next few days!
Hey Matt Yes Very Sad🤥😞about Eric Carmen 😣😖a Really Cool Musician for sure with the Raspberries and Solo 🎼🎵🎶🎹im listening to the cd the Best of the Raspberries 🎵🎶🎶cool music cool songs wow the Raspberries and Eric Carmen will certainly be remember , i just heard " Go All the Way " ,⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Great Tribute 🌠🌠to Cleveland Own Raspberries 🌟⭐great songs and Great Times ⏲Thanks for sharing Your Thoughts on the Great Eric Carmen R.I.P. ✌👍May His Music Rock on Forever☮
You know I just realized that go all the way was released about the same time that Donny Osmond released Go away Little girl. I guess both sides of the issues had to be heard.
This was the first I've learned of this. I tried to find out more information, but thus far, all we know is that he died in his sleep. His original version of "All By Myself" is on my personal '70s Spotify playlist. "Make Me Lose Control" is on my '80s playlist. It's good to listen to my favorite music without some disc jockey talking over the intro, or having to suffer through twenty minutes of ads, newscasts, traffic and weather reports.
@@matthewstreet1961 I loved All By Myself when I heard that, then years later I heard the Second Piano Concerto and did a double-take. I just had to laugh - go back and make sure I wasn't stoned and hearing it incorrectly. I think Carmen nicked it off #2 for Never Gonna Fall in Love Again, too.
With deep respect for Eric's talent, for his family, who surrounded him in his last days, but can it be considered fair that after a person's cremation, his ashes are allowed not to be buried in the earth, where Eric's parents are, but to be kept with his wife or friend? Is this according to God's laws? Ashes must be laid to rest, just like a person's soul after death. In any religious temple they will explain that a person's ashes cannot be kept among living people.
Listened to all 4 raspberries cd's and the best of Eric Carmen yesterday. A super talent who should be in the rock and roll hall of fame.
Thank you…😢

I forgot how many hits he had until he passed. Cool that you saw him live though.
Thanks Sam😢
I always considered Eric Carmen to be the laid-back, understated genius of rock music.
I agree! He deserves more acknowledgement!!! Cheers 🍻
Beautifully said Patrick! 🎶🎵❤️🎄🎅🎼👍
I get it. I felt the same way when 3 of the Monkees passed. Being a fan for so long it's like losing a member of the family.
😢
.......very nicely done, friend......
Thank you Tommy! Coming from you, that means a lot! Cheers 🍻
Sad day. Eric was great and very underrated. The Raspberries as well😢. I did get to see him
with Ringo & All Stars about 20 years ago and he was awesome. His 3 songs he did were “Go All The Way” , “Hungry Heart” & “All By Myself “ . RIP Eric you were great ❤
😢
God bless you Matt, Eric get's a lot of airplay on the radio here in the UK and I'm guessing that there will be a lot of tributes to him on the airwaves here today, a sad day for us music fans across the world...
😢
Very thoughtful tribute Matt. Rest in peace Eric.
😢
The first couple of times I heard "Hungry Eyes," it was in a public setting, and the song was being played over a radio that had bad sound quality, and I thought that it was Robin Zander singing. Probably because of that, the song caught my attention. I'll have to give The Raspberries a new listening. Your tribute is touching.
I actually liked "Make Me Lose Control" much better!!!
😢
Eric's music also meant same to me in 70s. It was AM radio thumbing its' nose at the upcoming FM music and the dream was still alive that AM could compete as staying power. I was a 60s AM junkie and did not want FM to overtake with the underground music and RASPBERRIES were the perfect sound to keep AM alive.
😢
Touching tribute, Matt. Sadly, the older we get the more of our childhood heroes die each year. Cheers 😎
😢
So touching, we get it, you don't have to say anything else. So sad, sorry for this loss! A beautiful tribute Matt! ❤
😢
Thank you Bonnie, I’ll look for that Fab Fourum! Yes I have the old sticker! Thanks for being here!! RIP Eric! 😢
@@BonnieBlair-zm4uu thank you again! 😎🙏☮️❤️🍀
@@matthewstreet1961 You are very welcome 😀✌️🕯️
~ rest in paradise ~ 😔 🕯
😢
A lovely and heartfelt tribute, Matt. Take care - Janek
😢
BTW, I had tears in my eyes too as I played the group, and then solo and Cyrus Erie and Quick songs.
😢
I just woke up to this very sad news! 😢 Wonderful Tribute Matt..
😢
Forgot to mention that I love the Raspberries shirt! Super cool, Matt..enjoy your Thursday, Allan
I loved the Raspberries growing up listening to the transistor radio on the beach in Massachusetts and Go All The Way was always playing. Hit Record was unique too. He was talented and it's sad.
So with you! RIP Eric! 🙏
R.I.P. The Legend Eric Carmen...
😢
Clearly one of the most underrated composers of the 1970's. He was a "Sir Paul" of the 70's....maybe not as iconic as McCartney, but nonetheless a guy who could write a wide swath of greats--from Love is All That Matters, Runaway, All By Myself, Hey Deanie and Desperate Fools to Go All The Way, Ecstacy, Starting Over and Overnight Sensation. Listen to these songs; I think you will hear what I am saying here😉
Agree 100% Mitch! Eric is an absolute legend!! Miss him…😥
His whole family!! His sister was the first female violinist hired by George Czell director of the Cleveland orchestra, studying Piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music at 5.
😢
RIP ERIC LOVE YOU ❤
😢
Ditto on everything you said. I couldn't have done a better tribute. RIP Eric.
😢
Thank you Eric for being a Patriot.
Thanks Caroline! 🙏😎👍🍻
Sad sad day. RIP Eric. 😢💔
😢
Crazy that we lost Eric and Karl Wallinger (World Party). Two great artists from different eras.... but both were great songwriters.
Don't forget Jimmy Buffett and Toby Keith as well...what is going on!??
😢
The 4 CD box set is also out of print
Really? Wow! A shame, it’s fantastic! Cheers 🍻
Love the Raspberries and recently just started replacing their 4 album discography and imho " Side 3" is the most perfect pop album! Ill be playing their albums the next few days!
😢

😢
Hey Matt. Colin here man. Been a long time.. Sad and I had to make contact with you just to let you know that it’s been tough. Dear Eric RIP
😢thanks Colin
I'm very saddened!
😢
You know I just realized that go all the way was released about the same time that Donny Osmond released Go away Little girl. I guess both sides of the issues had to be heard.
Great info Cheryl! Thanks!🙏 😎👍🍻🙏
😢
❤❤ raspberries please do a tribute for Eric in Cleveland Ohio for us fans so we can come together and remember him ❤❤❤
I get you Matt. It's like that old song " if there's a RnR Heaven, they must have a he'll of band ". I hope I got that lyric right. Take care Matt.❤
Oh there is and he's IN IT!!!
😢
RIP Eric
😢
I agree Matt. Eric was one of my favorite singers and songwriters.

Love to 🇪🇸 Spain!! 🍻🎵🎼🔥🎶🦃
RIP EC
Yes…❤️🥲
All By Myself was my favorite from Eric Carmen. I was more into Eric’s solo career than him with the Rasberries
😢
I was a fan of the Raspberries always
😢
I had no idea he was gone - I just this moment posted a joke about how he was to Rachmaninoff as George Harrison was to the Chiffons
😢
@@matthewstreet1961 I loved All By Myself when I heard that, then years later I heard the Second Piano Concerto and did a double-take. I just had to laugh - go back and make sure I wasn't stoned and hearing it incorrectly. I think Carmen nicked it off #2 for Never Gonna Fall in Love Again, too.
Thank you 🙏
With deep respect for Eric's talent, for his family, who surrounded him in his last days, but can it be considered fair that after a person's cremation, his ashes are allowed not to be buried in the earth, where Eric's parents are, but to be kept with his wife or friend? Is this according to God's laws? Ashes must be laid to rest, just like a person's soul after death. In any religious temple they will explain that a person's ashes cannot be kept among living people.
Agreed, ashes should remain together, not spread, and be laid to rest. ✝️
Sadly.
