I love how diverse Maiden fans are when ranking the albums. I think it comes down to the first album you were exposed to, proving that Maiden are timeless and cross generations
I recently rediscovered "Somewhere in time" and I've been absolutely blown away by how amazing this album is. The entire album is fat free, not a single filler. Just one good jam after the other, and each song has such tasty guitar solos!
¨7th son of a 7th son¨ is on the same level as ¨somewhere in time¨ imo. No filler songs at all, just greatness, (moonchild is my favorite maiden song ever btw). ¨Number of the beast¨ would be also on this category if it wasn't for that lame song ¨gangland¨
Seen them 6 times, first time on the Somewhere in Time tour. Vinnie Vincent Invasion opened up.. But, I still believe that POWERSLAVE was their peak... Pound for Pound and song for song ..Every song melts your face.
Somewhere In Time is a masterpiece. The just right blending of guitar/bass synth with a great production is maybe one of the pinnacle of HM production in the 80s.
Especially Somewhere In Time where I get a Star Wars/Coruscant meets Bladerunner feel to it. Plus all of the easter eggs you find regarding restaurants, bars, businesses named after Maiden themes.
@@chaosapiant For sure mate, it's a gun song. I love the drums in that time signature, sounds prong. Bruce kills it, and awesome leads..... By Adrian I think?
I think Iron Maiden and Killers are two very underrated albums, the punk sound of them both and Paul's voice fits perfect together with the rythem. Up the irons \w/
I was 7 years old when I got Somewhere In Time on cassette. It was their latest album. My first metal album ever (unless you count Slippery When Wet, which I don't)
I am shocked someone else agrees how amazing somewhere in time is. Alexander the great is my favorite song, it's just so Iron maiden, heavy when needed. Just perfect.
17: the final frontier (2010) 16: virtual xi (1998) 15: the x factor (1995) 14: dance of death (2003) 13: no prayer for the dying (1990) 12: the book of souls (2015) 11: senjutsu (2021) 10: a matter of life and death (2006) 9: brave new world (2000) 8: fear of the dark (1992) 7: iron maiden (1980) 6:piece of mind (1983) 5: killers (1981) 4: the number of the beast (1982) 3: powerslave - live after death (1984) 2: somwhere in time (1986) 1: seventh son of the seventh son (1988)
Fully agree with you on number 1, Somewhere in time is just a perfect album from start to finish, all killer no filler. Also, Paul Di'Anno got kicked for having massive drug problems. Steve Harris is a professional, and he expects the same from his bandmates.
@@onlycatclay3093 I’m not saying Steve never tried hard drugs, but I’ve never seen anywhere Steve talking about using drugs or other people saying he used drugs. He drank… sure, but never got sloppy with it to affect a show. He’s stated one of the major reasons Paul got out was he was into partying too hard and drinking… don’t know if he said it, but others have said also because Paul did harder drugs(that might have just been a part of “partying too hard” for Steve) and he wasn’t 100% on shows. Where did you hear Steve did hard drugs?? I’m just wondering because I have never seen an interview about it. If Paul has mentioned it in later years then I would take that with a grain of salt… Killers is my fav maiden album, but he’s said some outright lies and weird stuff in interviews I’ve seen throughout the years depending on his mood or if he was drinking before/during interviews.
@@ZachyB98 Yes, I wasn't disputing the reason Paul got kicked out. I'm sure that is totally true. I am just always a little amused when people think that maiden were squeaky clean just because they didn't talk about it. Steve is a pro for sure, one of the best and an absolute legend of 4 strings.
I always hated Heaven Can Wait and think it's the weakest song on the album. Except that one part in the song which is catchy. The chorus is dreadful though
No prayer for the dying wasn’t the first line up change since Bruce joined in 82, actually Clive burr was replaced by Nicko McBrain after number of the beast
Killers will always be my number one, but honestly I was surprised my Senjetsu. Most bands from the 80s or 90s when they release albums now kind of suck, but Senjetsu was fantastic!
Somewhere In Time and Powerslave are also my favorites. Powerslave is more memorable, but as an album Somewhere In Time sounds better. I'd put Piece of Mind #3 - in addition to the hits I love the track Still Life.
If I was forced to pick, I’d rank Seventh Son at the top, closely followed by Killers and Powerslave. I’m absolutely blown away by Senjutsu though. I can’t rank it right now but its been a long time since a Maiden album became a favorite on the first listen.
I agree with seven son of a seven son being the best. After that i would place the number of the beast followed by piece of mind. With that said i also agree that senjutsu is awesome. In my opinion is the best album since seven son of a seven son.
Powerslave is in my mind by far their best. Both Powerslave and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner are incredible tracks and Back In The Village and Losfer Words are great underrated songs.
i love powerslave its my favourite but personally i dont like losfer words as much i think flash of the blade is far better but rime of the acient mariner is an amazing song reminds me of coma by guns n roses with the legnth of the song and power in the vocals even if they are different genres of music
@@RuthlessMetalYT Nah there not mate the number of the beast is a semial album not only for Maiden but for the whole heavy metal. genre. Beast has all the malodic brilliance of piece of mind but also has all the hard bite of killers on one legendry album. Pink Floyd. .. The Dark side of the moon. AC/DC..... Back in Black. Metallica... The Black album. Iron Maiden.... The number of the Beast. There's a reason it's their top seller in their history. There is a reason it's "over played"
@@sidthejovian5105 lol Listen son before Beast Maiden were a great British heavy band. After Beast they were a major international act. No other album in their discography would have had that effect. Albums like Beast only come along once in a bands career. By far their biggest selling most commercially successful album bar none. It's not just "my opinion" it's fact.
Great presentation. Was really thinking through all of the video where i would find my favorite, Somewhere in time. In the end it was placed first. Glad u really like it that much. Maybe thrashers r more fond of it, for some of its romantic power speedy synth metal. Great job promoting our favorite music. Keep it up mate.
Somewhere in Time is just absolutly incredible. It's an uplifting album. It takes you somewhere, when you listen to it. It's my favourite Maiden album, as well. Masterpiece.
Good list. Mine can change depending on mood but my top 3 always stays the same: 1. Brave New World 2. Seventh Son 3. Powerslave BNW will always have a special place in my heart cos it was the 1st Maiden album I bought when it came out. Steve has said that many fans say the 1st album they get into usually stays their fave & I guess I'm no different :) Funny enough, these 3 albums also happen to have the best covers in my opinion. Up the Irons \m/
That's a pretty decent list, but Seventh Son is my all time favourite, I was nine years old when it was released and it has been a solid member of my playlists ever since! The first two albums of their's I bought were the first two albums, and I agree with you about the Di'anno era - totally awesome!
@@RuthlessMetalYT I agree with your list! Although I would put Seventh Son as 2nd place. lol Do Ozzy Next!! I put Ultimate Sin as 1 and Bark at the moon at 2!
Seventh Son is great but if you were used to listening to the classic album Somewhere in Time by then (like me) it is overshadowed, no doubt. It's hard to rank all the albums but if I was to go with how much I've listened to each album I'd have to go 1. Somewhere in Time, 2. Iron Maiden, 3. Powerslave. A lot of my friends that are a bit older like the mid 80s albums best like Piece of Mind and Powerslave.
Cool theory, but I got into maiden when somewhere in time was new, and it was my first album by them. I still say seventh son smokes somewhere, any day of the week (... or, any where in time) Somewhere being a bit of a boring album sandwiched between two of their very best albums.
Brave New Ranking: 17 - Virtual XI 16 - The X Factor 15 - A Matter of Life and Death 14 - Fear of the Dark 13 - No Prayer for the Dying 12 - Dance of Death 11 - The Book of Souls 10 - Senjutsu 9 - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 8 - Brave New World 7 - The Final Frontier 6 - Somewhere in Time 5 - Powerslave 4 - The Number of the Beast 3 - Iron Maiden 2 - Killers 1 - Piece of Mind Iron Ranking.
1. iron maiden 2.killers 3.the number of the beast 4,piece of mind 5.powerslave 6.somewhere in time 7.seventh son of a seventh son 8.I don't care about the other albums
I don't think it's possible because Bruce has a way wider vocal range than the other two. In helloween's case all three have a high range. Paul and Blaze can't sing one another's songs
1- Somewhere in time 2- Powerslave 3- Seventh son of a seventh son 4- The number of the Beast 5- Piece of mind 6- Fear of the dark 7- Brave new World 8- Iron maiden 9- The book of souls 10- Senjutsu 11- The X factor 12- Killer 13- No prayer for the dying 14- Dance of death 15- Virtual XI 16- A matter of life and death 17- The final frontier
Our top 2 is the same. Glad to see “Somewhere in Time” getting the spotlight. Can’t wait for the Mercyful Fate and King Diamond episodes (please don’t do them together). Curious to see how high you rate “Fatal Portrait” and how you’ll decide between “Melissa” and “Don’t Break the Oath”.
Saw Iron Maiden with Megadeth opening in Raleigh, NC in 2013. I bought the tickets with a guy in my unit while we were deployed to Afghanistan. Just a few weeks after getting back to the USA we were at the concert!
I see what you going for, but my list is 17: No Prayer for the Dying 16: Virtual XI 15: Dance of Death 14: X Factor 13: The Final Frontier 12: The Book Of Souls 11: Senjutsu 10: Fear of the Dark 9: Brave New World 8: A Matter of Life and Death 7: Piece of Mind 6: Iron Maiden 5: Killers 4: Somewhere In Time 3: The Number of the Beast 2: Powerslave 1: Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Very good list. I agree that No Prayer for the Dying is their worst album. Every song on that album is horrific except for the title track which is only decent in my opinion.
Somewhere in Time is my favorite album with Bruce Dickinson, but I also love the Paul DiAnno albums. The first two records have a bit more of a rebellious rock n roll edge to them, which DiAnno’s voice fit really well with. Dickinson just has a bigger voice, which I think is why their music became more grandios and theatrical in a way.
1: Number of the beast 2: Brave new world 3: Iron maiden 4: Seventh son of a seventh son 5: Somewhere in time 6: Piece of mind 7: Powerslave 8: Dance of Death 9: Fear of the dark 10: Killers 11: A Matter of life and death 12: No prayer for the dying 13: Senjutsu 14: Final Frontier 15: Virtual XI 16: The X Factor 17: Book of Souls Brave new world was released just a couple of years after i was born, i grew up with that album playing all the time because it was new at the time and my father sang the titel track as a lullaby for me before bed. I will always rank that album as one of the best!
My Ranking: 1 - Powerslave 2 - Piece of Mind 3 - Brave New World 4 - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 5 - Somewhere In Time 6 - The Number of the Beast 7 - A Matter of Life and Death 8 - Iron Maiden 9 - Senjutsu 10 - Killers 11 - The Book of Souls 12 - Dance of Death 13 - Fear of the Dark 14 - The Final Frontier 15 - No Prayer for the Dying 16 - Virtual XI 17 - The X Factor Some people say that i'm crazy to put Brave New World in third, but this album marked my life in a astonishing level. I love all the songs, the same thing with Powerslave and Piece of Mind, Iron Maiden at their best.
Not a bad ranking of albums! Of course everyone has their own opinion but I TOTALLY agree that Somewhere belongs on number 1. Even though I disagree with some of the albums ranked on this list, I love the in depth descriptions of everything on the albums. Keep up the good work my friend! Cheers!
I absolutely love that You put Somewhere in Time on first place! In my opinion it’s their greatest album ever , no doubt. Many people like Number of the Beast or Piece of Mind, but Somewhere in Time and also Powerslave and Seventh Son was their actual point of perfection in my opinion. So my Top 3 are 1.Somewhere in Time 2. Seventh Son 3. Powerslave Great List You have there, cheers 🤘🏼
After much humming, hawing and chin scratching. 01. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 02. Piece of Mind 03. Somewhere In Time 04. The Number of The Beast 05. Killers 06. Powerslave 07. Iron Maiden 08. Brave New World 09. Dance of Death 10. Fear of The Dark 11. Senjutsu 12. The Book of Souls 13. No Prayer For The Dying 14. Matter of Life and Death 15. The X Factor 16. The Final Frontier 17. Virtual XI
Iron Maiden is one of those bands where I love to listen to the whole album, front to back. So many great albums and songs over the years! I don't have a clear favorite or ranking, but looking at everyone's lists, I have "No Prayer For The Dying" higher than most. "Seventh Son" and "Number of the Beast" are probably my most listened to. What an awesome band, and Steve Harris is one of the greatest bassists, a true living legend. Thanks for your rankings!
Somewhere in Time is the best, the entire album is arc of human passage of time...it is fairly deep and philosophical album, sounds awesome, harris and Smith at the peak of their creativity.
There are three albums with Maiden, a little better than the rest; Powerslave, Somewhere in time and Seventh son of a Seventh son, my favorite is the 1988 album Seventh son..., but Somewhere in time is close, as well, Saw them with WASP in ´86 and with Helloween in ´88. Great!
I think that Dance of Death is underrated. It's actually my favorite of the latter day Maiden albums and I definitely prefer it to Brave New World. My favorites are Somewhere In Time and Killers. Either could be my number 1 depending on the day.
It’s actually scary how close my list and your own are. When I got to your part on Killers and the original singer, I was 100% with you. Glad to see someone else has the same mindset out there. And bold, but I would say accurate, placement of Number of the Beast.
Yeah, agree 100%. Imo, Seventh Son is one of the greatest albums of all time period. It's just perfect from start to finish. If I had to pick a worst track it would be Can I play with Madness but even that rocks. I fell in love with Maiden when I was in primary school. I had Seventh Son and Power Salve on cassette, copied both from the older cool kids who lived on my block. I listened to both so much that the tape stretched and I had to re-record them again. Fast forward more than 30 years and listening to both albums still makes me feel the same way as I did when I was ten years old. Pure magic. Their music just hits the spot for me.
Piece of Mind is my favorite and IMO the most consistent Maiden album. I also think this is probably Martin Birch's best album ever, with The Mob Rules a close second.
My top 5 favorite Iron Maiden album. 1. Caught Somewhere in time 2. Number of the Beast 3. Virtual IX 4. Killers 5. Iron Maiden Favorite Iron Maiden song is a tie between Hallowed Be Thy Name and The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
Well, I disagree with you in some positions, but I agree with the 1st place. One thing I can guarantee: I’ve always been exchanging some positions over these years. Mine is like this: 17 - Virtual XI 16 - The Final Frontier 15 - Killers 14 - No Prayer For The Dying 13 - Senjutsu 12 - The Book of Souls 11 - Dance of Death 10 - X-Factor 9 - A Matter of Life and Death 8 - Iron Maiden 7 - Fear of The Dark 6 - Brave New World 5 - The Number of the Beast 4 - Powerslave 3 - Piece of Mind 2 - Seventh Son of A Seventh Son 1 - Somewhere in Time
Somewhere, Killers, Seventh Son and Live After Death are alguns that changed my life!. Somewhere made me a metalhead! Thanks Mauden! Up the beers! Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘🇵🇹
Correction: you state No Prayer For The Dying featured Janet Gers who replaced Adrian Smith making it the first record with a lineup change since Bruce joined in 1982, but you forgot that Clive Burr left after Number Of The Beast came out and was replaced by Nicks McBrain.

I always get shit for liking the Paul Di'Anno albums the best but I'm with you on thinking it's the punk maiden. Not that Bruce is bad, Bruce is awesome but I just loved what Di'Anno brought to the table.
It's been delayed, but now I'm able to complete listening Senjutsu in it's entirety. I can say it's a really good Maiden album and it's great from start to finish. So now here's my rating of all Maiden albums: 1 - Brave New World 2 - Powerslave 3 - Dance of Death 4 - The Number of the Beast 5 - A Matter of Life and Death 6 - The Book of Souls 7 - Senjutsu 8 - Somewhere in Time 9 - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 10 - Killers 11 - Iron Maiden 12 - Piece of Mind 13 - The X-Factor 14 - Fear of the Dark 15 - The Final Frontier 16 - Virtual XI 17 - No Prayer for the Dying
1. Piece of Mind 2. Number of the Beast 3. Powerslave 4. Somewhere in Time 5. Brave New World 6. Fear of the Dark 7. A Matter of Life an Death 8. Killers 9. Seventh Son of a seventh Son 10. Dance of Death 11. No Prayer for the Dying 12. Iron Maiden 13. Book of Souls 14. The X-Factor 15. Senjutsu 16. The Final Frontier 17. Virtual XI
I have to agree with your choice of number 1. What's ironic is that Somewhere in Time wasn't greatly received by fans at the time because of the move to synths, which metal purists hated. However, it gave Iron Maiden's music an edge that wasn't heard before and, I believe, not capitalised on well (even with SSOASS), probably because of the changes in band member dynamics that happened in the 90s. We may have been denied some real gems because of those early disagreements.
I dont agree with all of this ranking, but thank you for a great video! It is fun to see someone else appreciating Somewhere in time! My list: 17. Virtual XI 16. The X factor 15. The final frontier 14. No prayer for the dying 13. Book of souls 12. Fear of the dark 11. Dance of death 10. Senjutsu 9. A matter of life and death 8. Brave new world 7. Killers 6. Iron Maiden 5. The number of the beast 4. 7th son of a 7th son 3. Powerslave 2. Somewhere in time 1. Piece of mind
I really like the way that you explain your reasons to rank the albums. And here comes my personal ranking: Meh: 17. Virtual XI OK: 16. A Matter of Life and Death 15. Dance of Death Good: 14. The X Factor 13. The Final Frontier Great: 12. Senjutsu 11. No Prayer for the Dying Very Good: 10. Iron Maiden 09. Brave New World 08. The Book of Souls Excelent: 07. Killers 06. Fear of the Dark 05. The Number of the Beast Masterpieces: 04. Piece of Mind 03. Powerslave 02. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 01. Somewhere in Time

I couldn't really find any issue with this list since all the top 7 albums you ranked are the ones I own on vinyl, which also happen to be my favorites, and I don't really have an order for them, so I can't really agree or disagree.
Completelly agree with the number one album, for me thats when they picked after the live after dead tour and powersalve. Something happened with Adrian Smith that his guitar took a sci Fi sound a Cosmic metal sound. Agree with the top 5 but i place piece of mind in third . Great job ranking!!!!
For me, Piece Of Mind is #1. Probably because that’s the album that really got me into not only Iron Maiden, but metal in general, I love that album from start to finish. It’s also the first concert I ever went to in September 1983, and I even had my goalie mask painted like Eddie’s head from that album!!🤘🤘
(I have not listened to Senjutsu yet). 16. "No Prayer for the Dying" 15. "The Final Frontier" 14. "Virtual XI" 13. "Book of Souls" 12. "The X Factor" 11. "A Matter of Life and Death" 10. "Fear of the Dark" 9. "Powerslave" 8. "Killers" 7. "Dance of Death" 6. "Brave New World" 5. "Somewhere in Time" 4. "Iron Maiden" 3. "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" 2. " Piece of Mind" 1. "The Number of the Beast"
What´s interesting to me is that every record post-80´s era has at least a couple of great awesome songs. Even Virtual X does (The Clansman is amazing). And the first seven records are a 100% pure magic!!! 1. Number of the Beast 2. Piece of Mind 3. Powerslave 4. Seventh Son 5. Killers 6. Iron Maiden 7. Somewhere in Time 8. A Matter of Life and Death 9. Dance of Death 10. Senjutsu 11. No Prayer for the Dying 12. Brave New World 13. Book of Souls 14. Final Frontier 15. Fear of the Dark 16. X-Factor 17 - Virtual X
Some of your rankings surprised me, which makes me happy. I'm glad there is diversity in opinion. Iron Maiden is my favorite metal band. Keeping in mind that I don't think any of these are terrible by any stretch, here are my rankings: 17. Fear of the Dark (My turn to shock people) 16. Dance of Death 15 & 14. X Factor and Virtual XI (tie) 13. Brave New World 12. The Final Frontier 11. No Prayer For the Dying 10. A Matter of Life and Death 9. Book of Souls 8. Somewhere in Time (I really hate that song Deja Vu, but otherwise this is stellar) 7. Senjutsu (with full acknowledgment that it's too new to know where this will be on the list a year from now) 6. Iron Maiden 5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 4. Killers 3. The Number of the Beast 2. Piece of Mind 1. Powerslave I enjoyed your video very much, thanks!
Some I agree some I am surprised. from worst to best: Virtual XI, X Factor, The Final Frontier, No Prayer for the Dying, Senjutsu, Dance of Death, Book of Souls, Brave New World, Killers, A Matter of Life and Death, Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, Somewhere in Time, 7th Son, Powerslave, Piece of Mind, Number of the Beast
I love Somewhere in Time too... their best album. 1. Somewhere in Time 2. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 3. Powerslave 4. Piece of Mind 5. A Matter of Life and Death 6. Dance of Death 7, The Number of the Beast 8. Brave New World 9. Killer 10. Iron Maiden 11. Fear of the Dark 12. The X Factor 13. Senjutsu 14. The Final Frontier 15. The Book of Souls 16. Virtual XI 17. No Prayer for the Dying
My ranking: 16. Virtual XI 15. The X Factor 14. Killers 13. Fear of the Dark 12. No Prayer For Dying 11. Iron Maiden 10. Brave New World 9. The Number of the Beast 8. Powerslave 7. Dance of Death 6. Somewhere In Time 5. Piece of Mind 4. The Final Frontier 3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 2. The Book of Souls 1. A Matter of Life and Death Note: I have heard Senjutsu and I thought that it's a great album as well. I have heard it a lot of times and I love Senjutsu but it's too early for me to rank it. I think that it's a sensational album with lot's of powerful solos just like in the fantastic Book of Souls. All of the songs are great on this new album and there are some surprises here and there. I feel that if I would rank it now maybe I would't give it a proper rank. After time passes I will come back and will include Senjutsu on my ranking. Also I know my list has some unpopular choices but don't be furious and respect my opinion. I love the new albums way more than others people do.
I discovered Maiden with *Number of the Beast* in 2007, founding an old CD in my brother's room. Then asked my mom for *A Matter of Life and Death* , and a few months later, because I felt in love with < The Mercenary >, I bought *Rock in Rio* . So I cannot say I love this album, or this album. Instead, I'm more likely to say < I like Maiden at their débuts, and until the early 2000's, before Final Frontier. > I enjoyed *Senjutsu* though, it's *maidenesque* , which make it good, the music looks very alike some of their oldest songs, yet it's not a great album in my opinion.
1 The Number Of The Beast 2 Piece Of Mind 3 Powerslave 4 A Matter Of Life And Death 5 Killers 6 Brave New World 7 The Final Frontier 8 Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 9 Semjutsu 10 The Book Of Souls 11 Somewhere In Time 12 Dance Of Death 13 Iron Maiden 14 No Prayer For The Dying 15 The X Factor 16 Fear Of The Dark 17 Virtual XI
Great list, this would be really close to how I would rank. I feel Maiden are broken into 4 parts as a band. Pre-Bruce, Bruce, Bye-Bye Bruce, and The Return of Bruce. I am personally a favorite of the first Bruce era, especially Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind. On their way up with those two leading right into Powerslave. Overall, the band fucking rocks and their new album is awesome. Up the Irons!
Another Great Rank 'em All ! Killers Power Slave & Piece of Mind are my top 3 😁 I gotta give matter of life & death Another try too. Dance of Death is also a Favorite of mine too! Keep up the good work Brother
Awesome to see Somewhere In Time at the top! It's long been my favorite Maiden album, and I think it's potentially a bit underrated by Maiden fans. I'm a little surprised to see The Final Frontier at the bottom, but it's definitely uneven. I need to go back and listen to that one again, and see if it might grow on me a bit.
From best to worst (although being worst on this list still beats being best on others) Number of the Beast Powerslave Piece of Mind Senjutsu Brave New World Iron Maiden Somewhere in Time Killers A Matter of Life and Death The Final Frontier Seventh Son Fear of the Dark Dance of Death Book of Souls No Prayer for the Dying
Powerslave is my favorite. Because it is raw and heavy. It hits you from start to finish, to finally knock you out with the ancient mariner (by the way the best maiden song in entire history).
I've always told my fellow 55 yo Maiden heads that Hallowed be thy Name will always be my favorite Maiden song. But I always also tell them that Rhime of the Ancient mariner is their Best song of all Time!!!!! Most underrated ever::::: To tame a Land!!!!
Enjoyed the video! I liked your explaning of each album. Iron Maiden is my favorite band. My top 3 is 1. Powerslave, 2. The Number of the Beast, 3. Piece of Mind. I want to make my own ranking soon as well. Seventh Son & Brave New World would either be 4 & 5, or not far behind. Powerslave is my favorite album of all-time actually, with my favorite song of all-time, Aces High. The Artwork is fantastic and the Rime of the Ancient Mariner is one of the most epic metal songs ever written.
17. Virtual XI 16. No Prayer for the Dying 15. The X Factor 14. Dance of Death 13. Fear of The Dark 12. Somewhere in Time 11. Final Frontier 10. Iron Maiden 9. Senjutsu 8. Piece of Mind 7. AMOLAD 6. Killers 5. The Book of Souls 4. Seventh son of a seventh son 3. The number of The beast 2. Brave New World 1. Powerslave
@@1848revolt No, it´s certainly not. Dianno had a great voice, but Dickinson had so much more. As a singer/performer/frontman in Iron Maiden, you can´´t replace Bruce Dickinson, absolutely not. He is THE frontman, singer in Iron Maiden.
Finally another maiden fan that gets me!! Fantastic list brother! Agree with most of your choices! I’m also a huge fan of the DiAnno stuff! My only change would be ranking Piece of Mind a bit higher!
I am putting Senjutsu in my ranking for Iron Maiden to make this fair and it’s hard, but I am going to put it my way. Here goes: 17. Virtual XI Five of the eight songs are great, but it just doesn’t save it from being good. 16. No Prayer For The Dying A very boring record for me, not much goes on for me, and I can’t stand Bruce’s raspy vocals on it, it annoys me. 15. The X Factor Half of the album is amazing, and Blaze does a good job, but the other half, just didn’t deliver. 14. Iron Maiden I like the album, but it’s not very rememberable for me, as of DiAnno which is a fine vocalist, but not rememberable for me. 13. Killers I like this better than the debut, but I still keep forgetting the album, but still enjoyable. 12. The Final Frontier As a post 2000 Maiden album, this is my least favourite on the list, but it’s one I still like for a long car journey, and it’s good. 11. Piece Of Mind It’s still a good classic album for me, but one I don’t often to return to that much, and out of nine songs this has six great songs and three of them just bore me, but it’s good. 10. Fear Of The Dark A very underrated album for me, I quite enjoy this one, and I have heard it’s getting a bit more of a renaissance now as of the title track, and everything. Great album for me. 9. Dance Of Death Despite the horrible cover, the album isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be, and it’s good to have many different styles, and it’s amazing for me. 8. The Book Of Souls This album is good for the time and the songs may feel long and outstay their welcome and draw out a bit, but it’s still a great album and it’s good in places. 7. Senjutsu For me, this is a great new album and it’s too early to put it higher at the moment, but a great follow up to ‘Book Of Souls’ and it’s an enjoyable to listen to. 6. Powerslave This is a fantastic album and I love the cover as it’s iconic and unique, and I love the songs on it, it’s a great classic and really enjoyable. 5. Somewhere In Time This album is such a joy to listen to, and I love the artwork which for me, it’s like a guessing game of all the Iron Maiden history before the album came out, and it’s such a good fun when you listen to the album, and the songs are great too. 4. Brave New World This album is now a modern classic for me, after 20+ years since it’s released, and it’s a definitive Iron Maiden album in their discography and a personal favourite to listen to forever. 3. The Number Of The Beast My favourite early 80’s album of them all, and the first album I knew about from Maiden before listening to them, it’s a brilliant classic and one album you can’t have a record collection without it. 2. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son I love this album from the classic era of Maiden, and my overall favourite and it’s amazing, and the eight tracks bring the atmosphere and the music works perfectly. 1. A Matter Of Life And Death I don’t care what others say about this album, it’s my top favourite album from Maiden, of all time and despite the sloppy production and not mixed properly, it’s still great for me, and my favourite over all the others. My ranking may not be as consistent as others, because I was born in the 90’s and only knew about the Beast era of Maiden and the post 2000 era which is still going on at this moment in time, before hearing them all and it’s hard to compare the 80’s work to their newer stuff, but they are all great in their own ways.
@@Luca_Orellano_23 The first three were correct, but the other two I like is Lightning Strikes Twice and The Educated Fool, not the two you mentioned there.
@@Luca_Orellano_23 Yeah Como Estais Amigo is boring to me, and Don’t Look To The Eyes Of A Stranger is too, but I like parts of The Angel And The Gambler, but I skip the middle of the song and only play the verses and the first chorus to the solos and the last chorus of the song and it’s cut to about 7 minutes rather than nearly ten. But Futureal, Lightning Strikes Twice, The Clansman, When Two Worlds Collide and The Educated Fool are the best if not the greatest songs on the album in my opinion.
I must admit, I would genuinely put all 4 of the non-Dickinson albums at the bottom... I just didn't particularly enjoy X factor and virtual XI, and while there are some good songs on Killers and Self-titled, I much prefer live versions, meaning I'd almost never choose to put the actual albums on... But hey, when even the bottom of any list has some good songs you aren't doing bad at all!! Up the iron's!
Seeing Seventh Son placed so low physically hurts me, but to each their own of course. That's what's great about Iron Maiden; they have a vast catalogue of amazing stuff that appeal to many people differently.
After two spins of the new album. 17. Virtual XI 16. No Prayer For The Dying 15. Fear of The Dark 14. Killers 13. Senjutsu 12. The X-Factor 11. Dance of Death 10. The Number of the Beast 9. The Final Frontier 8. A Matter of Life and Death 7. Piece of Mind 6. Iron Maiden 5. The Book of Souls 4. Powerslave 3. Brave New World 2. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 1. Somewhere in Time
I don’t agree with somewhere in time at #1 and I don’t think that the X factor is better than virtual xi BUT other than that I completely agree with your list
When I think back Maiden or Priest would be the first metal band I heard. The gateway bands😆, I stopped listening to maiden after seventh son. Cheers 😃.... I am hoping for a KD ranking in the future.
I can agree with almost all placings. Somewhere In Time is def best Maiden longplay. Personally I would place Virtual XI and The X Factor a little bit higher in the ranking.
I love how diverse Maiden fans are when ranking the albums. I think it comes down to the first album you were exposed to, proving that Maiden are timeless and cross generations
Yeah I heard their hits for a long time before I bought any of their albums. :) Cheers!
Agreed. The first Iron Maiden song I listened to was "Wasted Years. Coincidentally, Somewhere In Time became my favorite Maiden Album.
I have to say. The first album I heard was brave new world. I think it's amazing. But for me best ones is a toss up between killers and powerslave
First songs i hears was 2 Minutes To Midnight and Can I Play With Madness, favorit album is probably Piece Of Mind or Somewhere In Time
I like how this rank betrays this dude age so plainly
I recently rediscovered "Somewhere in time" and I've been absolutely blown away by how amazing this album is. The entire album is fat free, not a single filler. Just one good jam after the other, and each song has such tasty guitar solos!
Yes, it's definitely their best "all killer no filler" album
¨7th son of a 7th son¨ is on the same level as ¨somewhere in time¨ imo. No filler songs at all, just greatness, (moonchild is my favorite maiden song ever btw). ¨Number of the beast¨ would be also on this category if it wasn't for that lame song ¨gangland¨
@@fanofgodjimindiva2497 imo, they should have switched that track with Total Eclipse, and that album totally would've been on that level.
Go see them in 2023!!!!!
I like seventh son better idk
Maiden has some of the best album covers in all of music.
Also rating needed!
Imo the Best artwork on somewhere in time and 7th son
Which makes the eyesore that is Dance of Death even more embarrassing
Especially Somewhere In Time where I get a Star Wars/Coruscant meets Bladerunner feel to it. Plus all of the easter eggs you find regarding restaurants, bars, businesses named after Maiden themes.
Dance if Death is probably the only one I absolutely hate. They didn't even try with that cover it looks like
I'm a big fan of The Final Frontier. When the Wild Wind Blows is amazing.
cheers!
The Talisman too!
Glad to see some Final Frontier love. It's a top 5 album for me and Starblind is, to me, the best song the band has ever written.
@@chaosapiant The Talisman is an easy top 5 and The Man That Would Be King and When The Wild Wind Blows are pretty awesome!
Cheers!
🤢🤮
Easily their most passionate and timeless work. Steve began to focus on technique and stuff rather than expanding on their uniquely punky sound.
Those two are my favourite maiden albums
The first metal band I ever heard. Such a great music.
Maybe mine too, I think they at least used to be peoples first impression of metal music. :) Cheers!
I was 7 years old when I got Somewhere In Time on cassette. It was their latest album. My first metal album ever (unless you count Slippery When Wet, which I don't)
@@keithclayton1271 You were lucky to get into metal at that age. I'm glad you liked it.
Ritchie Blackmore😎
Saw them open for Kiss in Germany in 1980. Blew me away with how tight they were. Still like the Paul DiAnno albums.
I am shocked someone else agrees how amazing somewhere in time is. Alexander the great is my favorite song, it's just so Iron maiden, heavy when needed. Just perfect.
good stuff!
I personally rank Somewhere in time, Seventh son and senjutsu as the top 3.
Agree 100% it is by far their best album

3: powerslave - live after death (1984)
2: somwhere in time (1986)
1: seventh son of the seventh son (1988)
Solid as a rock! Cheers!
I agree 7th son and somewhere in time are really good.
Seventh like for the nro 1 spot in your list.. ;)
Fear of the dark is the worst maiden album in my opinion. So boring
@@saosinfan29 i dont think so. Fear of the dark is a good album. Not as great as the first seven albums but still a good one.
Fully agree with you on number 1, Somewhere in time is just a perfect album from start to finish, all killer no filler.
Also, Paul Di'Anno got kicked for having massive drug problems. Steve Harris is a professional, and he expects the same from his bandmates.
Cheers!
They were all on hard drugs
Glad to see someone else share my number 1
It rocks! Cheers!
i miss Derreck Rigg's artworks tho
me too, Cheers!
Don't we all!!!
What ever happened to him? Does anybody know the story?
And I miss Martin Birch much more.
I do as well! He knew exactly what he was doing that’s for sure!
No prayer for the dying wasn’t the first line up change since Bruce joined in 82, actually Clive burr was replaced by Nicko McBrain after number of the beast
Oh yeah, I forgot about that, but I said it in another part of the video. haha, yeah well, mistakes happen. :)
there has been multiple changes since Maiden started in 1975, soundhouse tapes being the 1st release
@@markwhitworth2906 yeah I know
no shit
Obviously didn't do his research well enough
Killers will always be my number one, but honestly I was surprised my Senjetsu. Most bands from the 80s or 90s when they release albums now kind of suck, but Senjetsu was fantastic!
Somewhere In Time and Powerslave are also my favorites. Powerslave is more memorable, but as an album Somewhere In Time sounds better. I'd put Piece of Mind #3 - in addition to the hits I love the track Still Life.
Cheers!
In a time... when dinosaurs walked the earth!
My thoughts exactly ... Powerslave has some better one off songs, but as a full album experience ... Nothing beats SiT
Still life is an amazing and underrated song.
I agree Still Life and even Quest For Fire are criminally underrated! POM is so dear to me probably because it’s when I really got into the band! 🤘
If I was forced to pick, I’d rank Seventh Son at the top, closely followed by Killers and Powerslave.
I’m absolutely blown away by Senjutsu though. I can’t rank it right now but its been a long time since a Maiden album became a favorite on the first listen.
Cheers!
I agree with seven son of a seven son being the best. After that i would place the number of the beast followed by piece of mind. With that said i also agree that senjutsu is awesome. In my opinion is the best album since seven son of a seven son.
I'm really impressed by Senjutsu so far. Really confused why some folks don't seem to like it at all.
Senjutsu is generic for Iron Maiden, vocal is weak and riffs are simple, don't know what exactly is blown away about it
yes
Powerslave is in my mind by far their best. Both Powerslave and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner are incredible tracks and Back In The Village and Losfer Words are great underrated songs.
i love powerslave its my favourite but personally i dont like losfer words as much i think flash of the blade is far better but rime of the acient mariner is an amazing song reminds me of coma by guns n roses with the legnth of the song and power in the vocals even if they are different genres of music
cheers
The Duellist is my personal underrated song on that album
Honestly, I'll put Number Of The Beast on my list as #1, really love the vocals and solos. Powerslave and Piece Of Mind too belongs in the top list.
Yeah, the top 6-7 albums are more or less interchangeable.
@@maxrav1831 Well, ur opinion I guess 🤷♂️
I would put TNOTB at #1, Powerslave #2
@@sidthejovian5105 lol Listen son before Beast Maiden were a great British heavy band. After Beast they were a major international act. No other album in their discography would have had that effect. Albums like Beast only come along once in a bands career. By far their biggest selling most commercially successful album bar none. It's not just "my opinion" it's fact.
I can't understand how the f so many people say The Final Frontier is a bad album, for me is one of their best albums, all songs are dope.
It is a great album
So is Senjutsu
El Dorado is such an amazing song. Coming Home, WTWWB too. Sick album
The Talisman is one of the best Maidens songs in the last 20 years.
Recorded same studio as powerslave
I def think it's one of their weaker one's. That being said When the Wild Wind Blows is fantastic
Great presentation. Was really thinking through all of the video where i would find my favorite, Somewhere in time. In the end it was placed first. Glad u really like it that much. Maybe thrashers r more fond of it, for some of its romantic power speedy synth metal. Great job promoting our favorite music. Keep it up mate.
thanks boss! Yeah I'm a bit biased towards the heavy and fast stuff. Cheers!
1.Iron Maiden
2.Powerslave
3.Killers
4.Somewhere In Time
5.Piece Of Mind
I love their first album
No mention of “tattooed millionaire”?! No wonder Maiden got tired of Bruce at that point?!
Somewhere in Time is just absolutly incredible. It's an uplifting album. It takes you somewhere, when you listen to it. It's my favourite Maiden album, as well. Masterpiece.
cheers
Good list. Mine can change depending on mood but my top 3 always stays the same:
1. Brave New World
2. Seventh Son
3. Powerslave
BNW will always have a special place in my heart cos it was the 1st Maiden album I bought when it came out. Steve has said that many fans say the 1st album they get into usually stays their fave & I guess I'm no different :)
Funny enough, these 3 albums also happen to have the best covers in my opinion. Up the Irons \m/
I Love Brave New World, it's the best disc
@@Sean-fv4wi I love Brave New World too. My first Iron Maiden's Album.

Correct, Seventh Son is their best. Followed closely by Killers.

Mmm... Paul needs a surgery in his knees, he is singing on a wheel chair.
Oh god no!
I don't think it's possible because Bruce has a way wider vocal range than the other two. In helloween's case all three have a high range. Paul and Blaze can't sing one another's songs

I think that Dance of Death is underrated. It's actually my favorite of the latter day Maiden albums and I definitely prefer it to Brave New World.
My favorites are Somewhere In Time and Killers. Either could be my number 1 depending on the day.
Agree regarding Dance of Death. No More Lies is absolutely one of their best songs ever! Super underrated album IMO.
Dance of Death has a really cool uniqueness to it.
Montsegur and Paschendale are two of their best songs. I'd say Paschendale is Maiden's second best song after The Red and the Black.

Pure magic. Their music just hits the spot for me.

yeah, there are probably not one metal fan out there that haven't listened to Maiden at one point. :)
@@RuthlessMetalYT at least our generation of headbangers!
Correction: you state No Prayer For The Dying featured Janet Gers who replaced Adrian Smith making it the first record with a lineup change since Bruce joined in 1982, but you forgot that Clive Burr left after Number Of The Beast came out and was replaced by Nicks McBrain.
Yeah, I said the correct thing when I talked about Piece of Mind but in that rant I made a mistake, shit happens. :)
Nice ranking! I love Somewhere in Time, and I think all songs on that album are great.

So now here's my rating of all Maiden albums:

4 - The Number of the Beast
5 - A Matter of Life and Death

the final rontier is honestly amazing
cheers!
We may have been denied some real gems because of those early disagreements.
sure but the album isn't soft or drenched in synths.
I dont agree with all of this ranking, but thank you for a great video! It is fun to see someone else appreciating Somewhere in time!

I couldn't really find any issue with this list since all the top 7 albums you ranked are the ones I own on vinyl, which also happen to be my favorites, and I don't really have an order for them, so I can't really agree or disagree.
yeah it's tough to rank these. :D
Completelly agree with the number one album, for me thats when they picked after the live after dead tour and powersalve. Something happened with Adrian Smith that his guitar took a sci Fi sound a Cosmic metal sound. Agree with the top 5 but i place piece of mind in third . Great job ranking!!!!
thanks boss! Cheers!
Adrian Smith's solos make the album
We have the same top 5, I just rank Piece of Mind higher. Great video
Thank u,Cheers!
Number of the beast number 1 for me.
I love somewhere in time piece of mind and 7th son.
I find no prayer for the dying to be pretty underrated
What´s interesting to me is that every record post-80´s era has at least a couple of great awesome songs. Even Virtual X does (The Clansman is amazing).
And the first seven records are a 100% pure magic!!!

Some of your rankings surprised me, which makes me happy. I'm glad there is diversity in opinion. Iron Maiden is my favorite metal band. Keeping in mind that I don't think any of these are terrible by any stretch, here are my rankings:

Note: I have heard Senjutsu and I thought that it's a great album as well.
Cheers!
Good list! Top 3 the same as mine, the rest similar.
Great to see some love for Loneliness..... SIT is my favourite too thought the rest of the ranking is quite different from mine!
good stuff! cheers!
> I enjoyed *Senjutsu* though, it's *maidenesque* , which make it good, the music looks very alike some of their oldest songs, yet it's not a great album in my opinion.
good stuff!

Exactly!!!🤘
Somewhere in Time 11th place? Bruuh
@@remove_marko I like the album, just prefer the one's listed above it
Another Great Rank 'em All ! Killers Power Slave & Piece of Mind are my top 3 😁 I gotta give matter of life & death Another try too. Dance of Death is also a Favorite of mine too! Keep up the good work Brother

4. The Number of The Beast
5. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son

Awesome to see Somewhere In Time at the top! It's long been my favorite Maiden album, and I think it's potentially a bit underrated by Maiden fans. I'm a little surprised to see The Final Frontier at the bottom, but it's definitely uneven. I need to go back and listen to that one again, and see if it might grow on me a bit.
cheers!
Great video. I would have switched piece of mind and somewhere in time but they are both great, just different. Thanks.

@@TobiasJHuettinger i know man. Me too. I may have already listened to the entire album 50 times!!
Powerslave is my favorite. Because it is raw and heavy. It hits you from start to finish, to finally knock you out with the ancient mariner (by the way the best maiden song in entire history).
Cheers!
Awesome I agree 100%.......................
This comment is just right no doubt about it

Somewhere in time is criminally underrated
arguably the best metal band of all time! seventh son of a seventh son is probably my favorite but you can’t go wrong with any of the first 7
Cheers!
Lol nope
Absolutely! Seventh son of a Seventh son, the Top period with Maiden and touring with Helloween as supporting band, 88.
I like everything but Blaze nothing against him but its not the same.
Here goes:
17. Virtual XI
Five of the eight songs are great, but it just doesn’t save it from being good.
16. No Prayer For The Dying
A very boring record for me, not much goes on for me, and I can’t stand Bruce’s raspy vocals on it, it annoys me.
15. The X Factor
Half of the album is amazing, and Blaze does a good job, but the other half, just didn’t deliver.
14. Iron Maiden
I like the album, but it’s not very rememberable for me, as of DiAnno which is a fine vocalist, but not rememberable for me.
13. Killers
I like this better than the debut, but I still keep forgetting the album, but still enjoyable.
12. The Final Frontier
As a post 2000 Maiden album, this is my least favourite on the list, but it’s one I still like for a long car journey, and it’s good.
11. Piece Of Mind
It’s still a good classic album for me, but one I don’t often to return to that much, and out of nine songs this has six great songs and three of them just bore me, but it’s good.
10. Fear Of The Dark
A very underrated album for me, I quite enjoy this one, and I have heard it’s getting a bit more of a renaissance now as of the title track, and everything. Great album for me.
9. Dance Of Death
Despite the horrible cover, the album isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be, and it’s good to have many different styles, and it’s amazing for me.
8. The Book Of Souls
This album is good for the time and the songs may feel long and outstay their welcome and draw out a bit, but it’s still a great album and it’s good in places.
7. Senjutsu
For me, this is a great new album and it’s too early to put it higher at the moment, but a great follow up to ‘Book Of Souls’ and it’s an enjoyable to listen to.
6. Powerslave
This is a fantastic album and I love the cover as it’s iconic and unique, and I love the songs on it, it’s a great classic and really enjoyable.
5. Somewhere In Time
This album is such a joy to listen to, and I love the artwork which for me, it’s like a guessing game of all the Iron Maiden history before the album came out, and it’s such a good fun when you listen to the album, and the songs are great too.
4. Brave New World
This album is now a modern classic for me, after 20+ years since it’s released, and it’s a definitive Iron Maiden album in their discography and a personal favourite to listen to forever.
3. The Number Of The Beast
My favourite early 80’s album of them all, and the first album I knew about from Maiden before listening to them, it’s a brilliant classic and one album you can’t have a record collection without it.
2. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
I love this album from the classic era of Maiden, and my overall favourite and it’s amazing, and the eight tracks bring the atmosphere and the music works perfectly.
1. A Matter Of Life And Death
I don’t care what others say about this album, it’s my top favourite album from Maiden, of all time and despite the sloppy production and not mixed properly, it’s still great for me, and my favourite over all the others.
My ranking may not be as consistent as others, because I was born in the 90’s and only knew about the Beast era of Maiden and the post 2000 era which is still going on at this moment in time, before hearing them all and it’s hard to compare the 80’s work to their newer stuff, but they are all great in their own ways.
Cheers!
Is the five songs of Virtual XI
Clansman, Futureal, When two worlds colide, don't look to the eyes of stranger and Como estais amigo?
@@Luca_Orellano_23 The first three were correct, but the other two I like is Lightning Strikes Twice and The Educated Fool, not the two you mentioned there.
@@lewiscarty5517 Glad It's not Como estais amigo
The Di'Anno albums needs to be up there! ;) Cheers!
Lol I would put all 4 of the non Dickinson albums at the top, even though I love Bruce. Those 4 albums are just so unique.
Seeing Seventh Son placed so low physically hurts me, but to each their own of course. That's what's great about Iron Maiden; they have a vast catalogue of amazing stuff that appeal to many people differently.
Cheers!

Killers is number 1!!!! This is insane!
@@jengelenm there's lots of filler on there.

I stopped listening new Maiden after No Prayer For The Dying. My favorite era from them is from Piece Of Mind to Somewhere In Time.
Perhaps the only change I’d make is to put “Dance of Death” (underrated?) ahead of “No Prayer for the Dying.”

I can agree with almost all placings. Somewhere In Time is def best Maiden longplay. Personally I would place Virtual XI and The X Factor a little bit higher in the ranking.
