Ooooo! That's SCARRRyyyy! as Count Scary would say. Sorry I'm from the Detroit/Windsor area and that's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw your awesome video. (In case you don't know he was t.v. local personality for Saturday afternoon/evening movie monster t.v. program.) But the castle playset is nice, they don't really make any playsets anymore for kids, though kids don't really seem to play with toy playsets or action figures anymore, it seems to have become a collectors industry. Have you ever thought of doing a retrospective video comparing yesteryear's toy industry to today's toy industry?
I had Frankenstein's monster but I don't remember how I ended up with it, I wasn't a monster kid so I'm sure I had to have gotten it as a gift. Still, I got plenty of use out of him as both Solomon Grundy, as is, and putting Superman's suit on him for Bizarro. Had friends who had the other three and I remember thinking out Drac was cheaped-out with the printed suit, even just making the coat as a separate piece would've improved that figure a lot.
I think it's great they remade it since it's a great example of 1/9 Mego playset design. Yeah the folded shape memory, that's kind of why I think a skeletal frame system would have advanced this standard. ;)
I hope to make latex masks of the mego/lincoln/tomland/ahi monsters it would be so cool to see the little tiny guys made into full costumes i am getting started on sculpting and i hope its legal to make the ahi ones
There’s a video on TH-cam called the NBC smiling parade and the monster squad is it I think it maybe the only time you get to Walt and the monster squad in the day light . Also have you ever thought of doing a custom of walt from the monster squad the only problem would what how would make the book with the ray gun in it .
@@BrickMantooth I really wish Mego or FTC would rerelease the American West line and finally release a version of the Dodge City playset. I love having different environments in which to display certain lines of figures.
Speaking of monsters I got my hands on a collection of Frankenstein comics where there monster is a super hero . There also is series where Dracula is super hero thou in this it’s a Descendent of Dracula who gains the power to become a bat both series you can buy from amazon . Com from mini komixs for six dollars for one shot book with one issue of Each of the comic series or books of the full series of each . There is also a wolf man series as well but I don’t know anything about his series except he now has a dog side kick .
Gee on more Frankenstein monster and you could make a barber shop quartet same frank N Stein from the monster squad never got a figure in that size they could sing god only knows from bio shock how cool would that be four Frankenstein monsters singing barber shop version of a beach boys song .
This need another release seeing that Mego is making Monsters again
I totally had the wolf man one, I remember feeling jipped as it wasn't the Lon Chaney Jr one lol
This is a cool looking playset and i love the playset the was made for the Remco monster line of figures
I still want the dreadful Dracula 😍
The FTC version has plastic clips to put on the top and bottom for each side so the set doesn't collapse.

Yeah I've thought about it, just can't quite figure out the context.
LOL! I remember Count Scary. My older brother used to love when he would say that. 😁
Had it. Good times.

If they ever reissue the castle they should include a bonus figure of a horror trope sadly missing from the line.a mad scientist
I had the Mego Dracula, Frankenstein and the Mummy but i never was able to get the Mad Monster Castle.😖
They did not sell them in Canada either. So I didn't even know it was a thing until high school.

I still haven't finished Drac yet but I'd do Walt after.
Cool piece
I am looking to buy one of these.
I wonder if the Dodge City never made it because of the excellent Lone Ranger Dodge City, one two many Dodge Cities perhaps?
I think the Lone Ranger one was called "Carson City" but it absolutely had to be a factor.

Is this one close to the Wizard of Oz witches castle as well?
Thanks for the posting and review.
Not at all but if you see the Knight's Castle I showed in the video, that one became the Witch's castle.

Oh i love those comics, I have them all. Published by Dell, they would make fun Mego customs.

I made a custom Frank N Stein in Mego scale, totally could make a band.
Is that an original blue haired franky???
It is, that's why it's a little worn.
I have mine .
