    I couldn't decide on one, so I got both of these clones. You guys are correct, both are very similar. My shooting results were pretty much like yours, great groupings, no hammer bite from either. One can't go wrong purchasing either one of these pistols.

      I ended up buying the Inglis in Nickel plating. The springfield was almost $300.00 more and of the same quality. That entire pistol in case color is over the top, it looks like a pimp's gun. Almost to say I am needy for attention please look at me. The High power is an elegant gentleman's pistol.This is contrary to that. Only the controls should be case Hardened / colored. It's Is supposed to be accentuated, not zebra Stripes all over the whole thing and make it look tacky. People are free to like what they want, it doesn't mean that they have good taste.

    Speaking of grips, try some Navidrex Thin Micarta grips from Brownells if you want something incredible on the HP. They aren't wood grained beauties, just functionally wonderful.

    I’ve shot a lot of the old High Powers. Recently I took an SA35 and a new L9A1 to the range. Both shot very well, The SA 35 had better sights (for me). I would carry either one of them and once I get them on my qual card, I will.

    I just purchased the Century Arms Centurion 14. It is a great clone and I put some thin grip wooden panels on it for a more traditional look. I understand that Military Arms Corp. has a new one, as well.

    I really like the looks and function of the GP-35. That case hardening is very nice. It's not for me as there is not at least one rail slot for adding a light and not a tritium front sight post.

    The major difference between the two pistols is that the SDS offering has the Mark III style spring powered firing pin safety whereas the SA - 35 has the original free floating transfer bar in the slide without the extra spring.

  • @plantguy100
    @plantguy100 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The trigger break weights are markedly different: the SA-35 has 6 lb trigger, the Girsan MC p35 has an 8 lb trigger like the old FN hi powers and the SDS (Ozerbas) has a 4 lb trigger. The new FN Hi Power (2022) has roughly a 4 lb trigger, but is a significantly different gun than the old FN Hi Power. Your measurement of 6/7 lbs for the SDS Hi Power is not consistent with what I've seen elsewhere. Possibly rolling changes have been made? I have two the Girsan pistols and believe me, you will notice a difference in the triggers and that difference will effect your results.

    US1618510-0 BROWNING HI POWER PATENT 1923 1927
    This is JMB’s patent of the prototype he designed showing the French-mandated features [Browning reportedly did not consider these feature to be useful]. FN when bringing the pistol to commercial mfg. assigned the task to Mr. Saive who returned, at least functionally, to JMB’s earlier 1911 single action type trigger by different means.

    Thanks for reviewing these Hi Powers. 👍 Though I have to advise against the idea of using the cup and saucer grip with a semi-auto pistol. It is fine with a revolver. Though if there is a catastrophic event with a semi-auto pistol, there is a tendency for the magazine to be blown out of the bottom of the mag well. To minimize the chance of suffering severe damage to your hand, it may be best to keep it clear from that particular location while firing.

    • @CartersCountry1
      @CartersCountry1  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Larry said he just heard that was the proper grip with the hi-powers, cause they were designed back when that grip was the norm.

    • @1moreford
      @1moreford วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@CartersCountry1 I doubt seriously it was the norm then or ever but it is certainly not a good grip to use with any handgun for a variety of reasons.
      Like the cup and saucer grip, people who use any style of low grip on the Hp don't get hammer bite like those who use a high grip to get good control over the pistol.
      Those of use who use a high grip want and need a beavertail on the pistol like at least one of the other modern clones has.
