Bought one earlier this year. Qualified on it and shot perfectly. It's a well balanced gun with a fantastic trigger. Enjoy it. Old 13 round BHP mags work as well.👍
I bought one of these earlier this year. Mine was hitting about four inches low at 15 yards. After several hundred rounds I had an extraction problem. I sent this pistol back to the factory. I asked them to change the sight out so it would hit dead on. They fixed the extraction problem and the point of impact issue. Kudos to Springfield.
I had a "real" one with the bad trigger (mag safety), tiny military sights, and short tang. Looks like SA has fixed the ejection problems on the early ones, so this is now my favorite clone. Thanks for the excellent review.
I handled the FN guns a few days ago and man..........I didn't want one but now I do BAD. They are fit TIGHT in a good way VERY smooth and the trigger is amazing....the tan one is more handsome than I thought it would be too. I'm eyeing the SA-35 at a local shop but the FN's down the road are so sweet. Hell I may get both........pick up the SA35 and put the FN in layaway. I was raised shooting my buddies dad's Browning N.A.M era high-power. I think it was the first 9mm I ever shot ....well no, I shot a tec9 first but still. The first actual serious pistol I fired was a high-power.
I was looking at getting the SA-35 for a while and then I found a great deal ok a FEG Hi Power clone and snagged it up. I will say that the 15 round mag looks to be a mec gar mag and those are solid hi power mags. I have a few of those and a few 13 round mags as well.
The Hi-Power was designed to take a 15rd mag. They reduced the capacity to 13rds to reduce weight for the French trials. Why everyone kept using the 13rd mags, with the dimples to reduce capacity, is beyond me. The Mec-Gar 15rd mags will fit a standard Hi-Powers. It's the same design as the original 15rd. Fit flush. Argentina also offers a 15d mag without the dimples.
Nice Hi Power. Truly very nice shooting guns. Despite the wonky trigger on mine (ended up with 5 altogether. Three in 9mm and two in 40S&W) it's actually one of the pistols I actually shoot halfway decent. The grip, the proportions, just the way it feels (for me) is near perfect. These 5 are all 1980ish vintage with three having the SFS trigger. Two or three of them Matt are marked Fredericksburg, VA which I thought was pretty cool also! Great vid once again!
Honestly... any pistol designed and intended for serious "social" purposes SHOULD be sold with THREE magazines! If I'm buying a pistol for EDC or home defense, I NEED those spare mags. The gun companies need to quit effing around, and give us everything we need, up front, when we buy their product. I don't give a damn if they incorporate the cost into the pricing, but I DON'T want to have to screw around trying to source spare mags for a gun I may be needing to put into rotation NOW!
There’s a guy in Indiana that believes he was put on earth to build High-powers and HP clones. His we-b s-ite is W-3 times and dot BHspringsolutions … he also has springs and parts for 1911’s.
The slides and frames are made by Tisas and finished in the US . Barrels are not . I don't think that is a bad thing though . The grips are the same as the new Inglis models also made by Tisas .
Mine is bone stock... I found it to be the softest shooting 9 mm pistol, I've ever shot. In fairness, I have never shot a 1911 in 9 mm. I'm told they are extremely soft shooting also. I now understand the argument, by 9 mm guys, that the hi-power was JMB's best pistol design... I still disagree, but I can definitely say that they have a strong argument. I'm glad to see the "clone market" offering affordable options for entry into this amazing platform.
Off topic: I just bought a Colt Classic 70 series like you have. I had 7 malfunctions in the first 100 rounds. The last 50 rounds ran perfect. I am aware of 1911 break in periods. Did you have the same experience with yours?
Every semi auto pistol should come with three magazines. I passed on the Springfield because they do not offer an ambidextrous safety, nor do they know if any aftermarket safety will work in their pistol.
You opened up a real can of worms with that question. Springfield's 1911 has been American made for a number of years, since they moved production from Imbel of Brazil. They don't own a foundry, of course. I suspect they might use Cardinal in Rochelle, IL, not very far from Geneseo, IL, but that's pure speculation. As for the SA 35, the internet rumor is that everything is made in Turkey (Tisas keeps coming up), and is hand finished and assembled in Illinois. The gun does not look identical to a Tisas 1911, so if true, it's being made to SA specs. Last I heard, Springfield will neither confirm nor deny.
@@gnosticnight… who builds the double stacked springfields coming in for trades from Israel? I imagine the frames are from Bul Armory, marked with Illinois stamps, the slides are marked with the Springfield cross cannons.
@@glennwhisler8678 I couldn't find a definitive, straightforward answer as to where the Prodigy's components are made. Of course the frames say USA, but we know what that's worth these days. They have sold some guns marked "Croatia" in past years.
@@gnosticnight … the pistols I’m referring to aren’t Prodigys. They’re double stacked full steel framed 1911’s similar to Rockislands double stack 1911s, traded in as surplus guns . dwjimports has some listed on gunbroker (accessible through dwj webpage) and Atlantic firearms had a few on their web. ( they might still have a few)

SA-35 and a BB58, perfect modern classic combo.
Yes sir. Glad you noticed 🤠

Did they say why it was shooting low
@@nickriley4609 They didn’t say why it was shooting low. They did however put a shorter front sight on. That resolved that issue.
I love the shirt. I grew up watching the Duke boys. Yee Hahh
Nice review! Years ago, I fired a Novak customized BHP and it spoiled me. This one looks more affordable, but still a solid option. 👍👍

Thanks for watching 🤠
Beretta provides three magazines with their handguns. At least for the 92X RDO and 92X RDO Centurion I purchased within the last three years.

Thinking about that or a 1911 in 9 para when I'm a senior citizen. Right now hands are good and edc .45 acp in a 1911 or XDS.
Mine has sharp edges on the trigger guard and beaver tail. Other than that, I really like the gun!

@DesertMav my feg runs good except for s&b ammo. It chokes on that stuff
@@reevesc87 mine runs really well, but it has stove piped a few times, likely due to being a bit dirty.

Everyone knows I've been a Hi-Power junkie since the 80s. Can't separate me from my Argentine P90 Hi-Power.
Try Detective FM ❤

It's a Mec-Gar mag. SA sells theirs for way too much. So, you're actually better off buying non-SA stamped Mec-Gar mags cheaper.

I checked them out and the stuff they are doing looks pretty sweet🤠
It will take Browning Hi Power mags and also takes Browing Hi Power Parts
I dated a gal years long gone that had an OG FN Hi Power in her nightstand. Had NO idea how cool that was, lol
Now that cool 😎

Sigs ship with 3 mags, at least my 229 did and Taurus sells the G3C with 3 mags. I mag is a joke.
Man! That is a beautiful pistol What looks better with a M1A , 1911 or SA35 ?
Ooh! That’s a good question. You know I’m a huge fan of 1911’s but gotta go with the Hi Power. It’s the Chef’s Kiss man 🤠
Get both
we have 2 hands for a reason
Who do you suppose actually manufactures those? Springfield doesn't actually build handguns these days, right?
I heard tisas

grip width vs beretta 92 ?? I have small hands..
0:02 is that a BB 54 or 58?
Good eye. It’s a BB 58.🤠
7 yards,not much of a test.20-25 yards might be a better choice
Or both.
