I don't get how Leyton Orient & Bolton got into Europe by 2040, and it's darn impressive how Hull City, Preston, West Brom & Derby won titles too, but not Bristol City.....
More to the point, how did they do better than Millwall who are currently better than all the above mentioned teams (some who have even had parachute payments to help them!) ;)
Well Bolton was in the europa league last in 2008. So not to unbelievable. Mind you Leyton orient is surprising but certainly possible. But as a Bolton fan myself I certainly approve 😂
Am I the only one who was totally suprised by HANSA ROSTOCK in a european cab semi-final? :o edit: and they even one the cup once + Sandhausen and 1860 München as well. Crazy
One of the Finnish teams seen here is just crazy: Gnistan from Oulunkylä, Helsinki, who in real life play in Ykkönen, the second tier of Finnish football.
I think that the biggest issue is fixture congestion. I don't know if the database removed the leagues cup, and it sounded like they might be playing in the CONCACAF CL too? Even playing in the default database my team ended up playing 2 games/week for at least 2 months straight between continental and league fixtures. The fatigue and rotation that result would be brutal for any team, let alone one that's spending like half of what other teams are and being limited to 30 players. The top MLS teams are playing up to about 60 games/year in the current FM database and operating on a significantly lower budget with more restrictions than their competitors, which is likely one of the issues holding them back in this save. I think that with qualifying from the low coefficient, a team might be playing closer to 70 games/season. That's not even getting into the travel, which could see a transatlantic flight, a match, and then another transatlantic flight with matches being 2 days apart.
imagining orlando or real salt lake being our sole representative in the uefa champions league is beyond hilarious to me, i think that FM can't ever quite simulate MLS realistically because on paper, the top clubs and the bottom clubs are a lot closer to each other in quality than, say, psg to the bottom of ligue 1, but FM can't perfectly factor in coaching ability, the challenges of geography and scheduling, and then organizational competence that isn't universal. this was a fun watch regardless i loved this
I used to live in Würzburg and went to a few Würzburger Kickers games when I was there. irl they had 2 successive relegations from the 2. Bundesliga to the Regionalliga Bayern in the past few years and couldn’t make it back up to the 3. Liga this year. They have some great kits tho and to see them in a Europa League final on here is astonishing, given that their stadium has only one seating stand, and the rest is temporary scaffolding standing areas
It's crazy how good some teams got. 1860 Munich (3rd division), Fürth (2nd Division) and even the Würzburger Kickers (Regionalliga Bayern). Just crazy how fast the big-medium sized clubs got replaced
i get why its odd to other ppl though. the reg. season is their playoffs pretty much, we kinda diminish the importance of the reg season by adding playoffs to all of our sports
@@alexandrescu2000 the billionaires who own mls teams arent gonna risk relegation wiping their portfolio. thats why euro oligarchs wanted the super league so bad
MLS should have a conference with promotion/relégation system, I think it would be great. You would have an eastern and western conférence with franchise who cannot be relegated, and à third conférence with teams promoted from whatever second level there is in America.
As someone supporting my local club that is leading the cutrent supporter shield race it means a lot to us. Many supporters view the shield as the measure if the best side. It is true the MLS Cup is the champion and more recognized, but it does matter. It is a fun experiment given how we have structures for competitive balance. Many clubs could spend 2, 3, 4X given the financial means behind them. We as a culture prefer parity over utter dominance like we see in thr Bundles Liga for example. More realistically I hope MLS sides might get into Copa Libertadores in the 2030s.
Maybe a new idea for a serie is, where you simulate the next years from clubs owned by football players, like virton (Kante) or FC Andorra (Pique). Also love the content!!!
Somehow what this experiment ended up doing was just making English football (and possibly some other countries). Leyton Orient, Bolton, Hull, Preston, West Brom, Derby all win European titles, Bristol Rovers in the Champions League etc.
We need the database!! Also just for your info, it’s a yearssss-long bug in the base game that prevents US teams from getting CONCACAF CL wins in their trophy list.
Ik this comment is late. But I’m glad you talked about the salary cap because that’s where the MLS would struggle but then you’ll get more teams doing what Inter Miami are currently doing and just build a super team that still is wage wise under the salary cap.
Hello Tom, i maybe have a good idea for a video. I really enjoy the video's where you give small leagues tv deal. So my idea is to do the opposide and give huge leagues huge debts
This was a great vid, it’s a shame that the salary cap wasn’t realistic, IRL it’s tied to league revenue. If the league were getting TV deals from European nights, it would likely make more money, and subsequently have a higher salary cap
The problem here is that the salary cap is very likely to change long before the point where you got it modified in the game. Just having Messi sign here, without him even playing a game, has dramatically increased potential ticket sales both in value and numbers. If profitability becomes higher, team owners will agree to more room in salary caps. I suspect that by the time the next World Cup closes, caps will be higher and high value, home grown talent won't even count against the current designated player rule as they would now. Americans will want to see American players play in America. New rules will be made to make the league that much more exciting.
@windrose5988 it won't make it big because Soccer is effectively a 5th tier sport in NA. the MLS makes about 1.5 billion euros a year in revenue. The 4th largest league in the US (the NHL) is just under 5 billion. 3rd, the NBA is at 9.5 billion. So just to crack the big 4 we're talking about it needing to quadruple in revenue. Changing the system won't help because NA has shown that it loves that system. In fact, the EPL is the largest non-US league by revenue, at 6.4 billion, or 3 billion below the 3rd largest league in NA. Soccer just isn't as popular as it would need to be to be a top level in the world.

It looks like the MLS was only getting 1 season of credit for coefficient? Unless they managed to not win even a qualifier for 3 years in a row, when you showed coefficient they only got credit for the most recent season
If MLS was in the European competitions, those DP restraints would be lifted immediately. Because they'd need to double their investment to compete, at a minimum.
I think FM needs to make MLS more realistic. There are teams spending 30m plus on salaries already. MLS saves are harder than real life, I think the youth intake for the US is outside the top 50 for some reason. The league reputation is way off too.
Curious how this would work out with an American pyramid system. Im currently simming one with added reputation to try to make it at the same level as top european leagues. The one thing missing is a champions league type competition as I couldn't figure out how to add the US leagues into the qualifications for the champions league.

You're a Champion but haven't played every team in the league? Doubtful. I could think of one way of fixing that without increasing the amount of games in the regular season (cause let's say you play twice in your conference and 1 for each team out your conference, you're still talking over 40 games and then playoffs, on top of now the Leagues Cup, that's way too many games).

Pretty shocking 3:57
Also this 4:19
vigouroux is a claret du du du
I think they won the efl cup to get in to eucl

Im more suprised of Fuentearbelrada from spain playing vs leyton orient. They are on the 4th division rn i think
Third but epic even though
Plymouth in the 2118/19 Conference league final is a beautiful sight
As a Wycombe Wanderers fan, I will take a Europa league for moving the MLS to Europe

As an RSL fan I loved seeing them do well! We just signed a great striker and promising midfielder to add to our squad next month too!

The growth of this channel is insane I only subbed like 3 months ago and it was at 20k
Congrats on getting Bochum correct 👏
Could you move the Scottish League to South America for the Libertadores? Or Asia for the Asian Champions League?
tbf it was okay but not correct :D
I thought the 'o' had to be longer. My grandad used to holiday there and learnt his German from them.
Yes the o must be longer but 'ch' is not 'ck' in pronunciation
The "ch" in Bochum is pronounced like the "J" in Juan
So many crazy teams in here, SV Sandhausen from Germany won the Europa League, this town has less inhabitants than stadium capacity
As an Orlando City fan I'm very happy they won the first season!
CF Montreal supporter here! Nice to say that :)
11:22 look at 2107/08 final venue: the Pep Guardiola Arena in Vigo, wow
I'd end the season on 150, CL final and season recap then do a few seasons sim to see how Guernsey are doing on episode 150
