  • If you're into car customization, the name Atoy Llave will certainly ring a bell. The man behind Atoy Bodykits and the company's aftermarket exterior designs are quite popular among Filipino car lovers. The curious thing you see here in this video--the Filipino-made Salamander amphibious tricycle--is Llave's latest creation.

    If the world says "don't trust that thing its made in China" and still buy things from China, Then I don't mind people saying "don't trust that thing its made in the Philippines".
    Every invention starts in prototype, and eventually it will be a success.
    This is another BRILLIANT Filipino idea.
    Once I saw a telephone here in Singapore and at the back it says "Made in the Philippines" that sentence makes me proud I am Filipino.

    The idea and concept of this tricycle is awesome, I like it, looks cheap and affordable it will definitely benefit a lot people especially on province. This one will help a lot especially for places with flood zone area. I like the way your thinking what people need instead of what people don't need. Nice good work guys keep it up.

    the concept and purpose is awesome. however, propeller is not safe - still rotating while driving on the road. should have a mechanism to turn it off or secure it while on land. a jet-propulsion is a good alternative. kudos!

      I believed there's a "lever" that "turns off/on" the propeller while on land/water based on the video. For demonstration purposes, it easier to show how it works on a dry land, than filming a rotating blade on water. What is not clear on this video is if this propeller can be lifted up inside the hull when not in use. Same mechanism as the airplane's tires. :)

      When I lived there, I broke the blade on one of my fans and was going to throw it out and get a new fan.
      My maid said no - she could have it repaired.
      "Oh," I said - "they can replace the blade?"
      She looked at me like I was simple minded and just said "you wait and see."
      Couple of hours later, the fan comes back.
      The guy she took it to had drilled small holes along both sides of the broken blade.
      He had glued the blade together, but glue alone would not have held under load - he has laced copper wires through the holes to reinforce it.
      He also rebalanced the blade, so it was completely vibration free.
      Fan kept working the whole time I was there - another year after the repair.

Do you know that the taal lake near Manila has its name taal which means a lake in sanskrit. CG is a important factor for boat design, it seem when your vehicle is fully loaded, the front tilted significantly and your back sink. You may want to correct that with a ballast tank in front. Additional side fins in circular design at the side of your back wheels will also improve your propulsion and steering. Your current design only account for water coming from the surface and not from the sky. Your purging system might not be able to handle the extra water if there is a storm. You might want to cover up the side opening during the raining season at sea. Great job guys

    it's very awesome!
    I see the benefit also for the canals of bangkok.
    sure it will develop further, bigger one, smaller one, etc. and I would estimate they can add reinforcements for windy weather and waves, and some simpler "shape shifting" mechanics to cover the wheels in the water and adding a more streamlined removable profile, then it will go faster.
    also a one or double side extension, seen from above: |-Ö-| and on the street this is being turned upwise, seen from behind: /o\ if you expect waves you bring it, else you leave the extension at home.
    4 kW is also a possible scale for solar energy, let's say it is used only every other day, and with the cheaper solar panels.
    btw I'm not filipino but I can read most of what they write here, and I would say the makers can be very proud exactly because it is humble and will serve people who are really in need of simple transport in that environment. it can carry at least some luggage and they need not re-pack when changing from street to water and back.

    As an Indian married to a Filipina and living in Philippines, I feel proud to see our local talent doing such innovations.
    I suggest you use two stabilizers on both sides like Filipino fishing boats to make it more stable and safe. Make it safe enough for moderate waves. Life jackets must be mandatory too. Check out some innovative homemade Vietnamese and Thai boats.
    This Amphibian should be useful for connecting the 7100 islands we have.
    Two things are MUST for any innovation to survive and thrive: Scale of production and constant innovation. Tesla has mastered both.
    MABUHAY NAMASTE!

    Question is, what is the update now on the vehicle? And is it possible to sell it on the Philippine market anytime soon? If so, magkano rin po kaya aabutin nyan? I hope this innovation will be widely used in the country, lalo na kasi maraming flooding-prone areas sa atin. This would be a great help/benefit to our people.

    • @crewcutter2030
      @crewcutter2030 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think one reason they stick with the 3 wheels is that the front wheel acts as a rudder when your in the water.

    • @bluepawn
      @bluepawn 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +crewcutter2030 4 wheels would be probably better. Such 3 wheels configuration have been banned in Vietnam. Unstable and too many deaths when breaking and turning in the same time (don't imagine during an emergency break when turning = it's worse).

    • @crewcutter2030
      @crewcutter2030 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kalvin One
      Well safety is up for debate, since technically if you dont go beyond what your vehicle can handle then you should be within safety standards, that means, you dont do breaking and turning at the same time. besides, not all three wheeled vehicle are unstable, im pretty sure the designers would have taken it into account or at least I hope. Anyway having only three wheels actually has its advantages, for this type of design. 1. The engine they're using is rather small, going 4 wheel would make it heavier. 2. Just an observation, I think its used as a rudder when in the water, I dont know how 2 parallel rudders work, but since i haven't seen a boat with such design so i guess it might not be that efficient. 3.Probably cost savings, its a lot more cheaper to have 3 wheel vehicle than four, just my guess. They would probably move into 4 wheel eventually, who knows.

    Finally a most acceptable and possible world-wide export product made from the Philippines! This design model should be the start that the government will ONLY allow to be used as public transportation and ban ALL others, except for personal use driven by their owner. I believe a 4-wheel model can be made so we can upgrade and replace the old jeepney model for public transport and also ban or allow only for personal use. Other models and concepts similar to "Salamander" will also come up knowing the Filipinos of their mantra mentality (the "gaya-gaya or copycat"), maybe a Turtledrive, Alligatoride or Speeduck models will emerge?! How about Bancar (banca), Buayaride or simply Pagong ....etc.

Also if the boat had a specialized docking feature this could be a crew tender auxiliary craft for a local fishing boat.

      It would be nice, but a jet would add to the cost. The prop shown is a "mud" propeller, being tested for its anti-fouling abilities. From the test, it works... even better than the shrouded standard prop on the other variant. It will definitely get a protective cage on production versions.

    Wow, so useful. Congratulations, how much is this amphibious tricycle? If there are many of this in Manila Bay, it would attract tourists.

    How much? If you are in the engineering field, you won't be asking about the waves. This is definitely a good buy for the right price.

    Please even the company frontman did not call it an invention. He NEVER mentioned the INVENTION because it is an innovation of existing amphibious vehicles.
