perfect video. so just a quick heads up like we do with dirt bikes. Get a long ass bolt and washers after you start the bearing to press it in. you have to use a torch to heat the body while pressing the bearings or before. Huge washers will flush the bearing too.

Does the bouncing when moving smoothly disappeared over time? I have the same effect but in the new makita saw, and I'm wondering if it needs some time, or it's going to be only worse.

I know this is an older vid, but i have pulled apart different brand saws and they only ever had 3 linear bearings. So they did not forget to install a bearing on yours

All the hf sliding miters only come with three bearing sleeves for the arms to slide through. It is designed that way because of the slide lock on the top left back side. Mine has that too. Air hose then Silicone spray help keep it going smoothly and not attracting dust.

Thanks for posting, I have the Milwaukee 7.5", uses the same bearings and I have the same problem with the sliders, more specifically the Left hand slider which has 1/2 of the bearing length to the RHS one.
As mine was knocked in transit, I am trying to figure out if its the bearing or the sliders which are distorted.

Would you recommend this saw? Been debating between this or the 10” slider they have.

Like most Harbor Freight tools it depends. Some things to think about is how big of a piece you want to cut. If your just doing small things it doesn't really matter. Also look at the cost of the saw blades. I already had 12" blades so it wasn't part of the cost but if you have a table saw you probably already have some extra 10" blades. Overall this tool has worked well but its a Harbor Freight tool so it far from perfect.

Did you ever figure out the locking screw? That's probably why the rear bearing was omitted. I wonder if you couldn't just drill down through the bearing? If the bearing happens to be rotated such that you don't hit the balls you'd probably be fine drilling. Also, too late now, but I wonder if the upgraded bearing in front with the OEM bearings in rear would've been about the right length over all to fit close to flush front and back?
Either way, thanks for this! I've been using a 10" HF saw for several years because I just can't commit to woodworking as a hobby enough to spend the $$$ for a "real" one. But your ideas to upgrade/tune are probably the best way to go. Thanks for the ideas!

Sadly I didn't get to spend more time looking into the lock. The next day while working with the saw the blade guard plastic broke.... so the saw it out of service for now until I decided what to do.
I really like the ideas! I think the bearings do have enough gaps that you could probably drill into them but making sure they are aligned would be hard. I didn't have the best tools for this modification so I totally destroyed the original bearings. Size wise, one original and one new would have fit another better.

Looks like HF might have recalled the saw recently for the guard problem....www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2023/Harbor-Freight-Tools-USA-Recalls-Replacement-Lower-Blade-Guards-for-12-Inch-Chicago-Electric-Miter-Saw-Due-to-Injury-Hazard-Sold-Exclusively-at-Harbor-Freight-Tools-Recall-Alert
