      @@KeyofDavid5778 He is a theologian, not a Layman, so will have a better concept of the narrative. The Bible Project goes through all the books from start to end, and he has a new series discussing weightier topics at length with his BP partner Tom. They are ALL excellent.

    This is why Jesus says, 'we can Rest in Him'. We no longer have to try to prove ourselves righteous before God. We can Rest in Christ's righteousness thru faith, trusting & believing all He did for us. We now desire to follow the commands out of our love for what He did for us on the cross. Amen

    "Because the pay of sin is death" So God redeem us from death (makes us free) but its not free for Him; He must pay for our freedom with blood, His blood. All we must do is to believe Him and that is righteousness .

    The more government intervenes with rules and regulations the worse everything gets. The rules are meant or excused as "needed to keep everyone SAFE", but all they achieve is more trouble - just like in the book of Exodus.

    Is Abram a good guy or a bad guy? Is that really an appropriate question? Yes, Abram was flawed, as we all are, but to ask was he good guy or bad guy? The answer is the same for every single person who ever has or ever will live (exception of Jesus Christ), and that is, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

  • @smariscal24

    Amazing stuff! But must disagree on the character of Jacob. Esau sold his birthright for soup, unlike Jacob, he didn't see it as very valuable!

  • @vpalos
    @vpalos 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The idea that Abram did not DO anything other than to have faith is wrong; also the inference that God did not expect him to DO anything but to simply have faith is wrong. God did expect and indeed requested that he would sacrifice his only son for Him, and it is ONLY after this DEED that God was convinced of Abram's faith.
    Abram did have faith, and it was a remarkable good thing which was greatly appreciated by God, BUT if anything, the story of Abraham as a whole is a testament that salvation DOES NOT come through faith alone. ONE MUST ALSO ACT!
    It is astounding how easy it is to misunderstand facts when taking them out of the whole context.

    So The God of Truth who can Not lie teaches through myth & metaphor but it somehow somewhere morphs into reality!?
    So When does it become historical? With real events?
    How does this then allow people to behave and treat each other?

    • @Mrpargmatic
      @Mrpargmatic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Give me an example of history that is not myth. All history is myth to some degree. Factual and hard evidence of truth is a Kantian myth too. Truth is in meaning, it’s about experience given by poetry not facts that we believe we can own as objects from the past. The Bible is a strange work of genius. Such Kantian expectations that are the foundations of fundamentalist eventuality lead to atheism and worse- nihilism.

    • @P.H.888
      @P.H.888 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr Alvarado Jesus said HE is Truth, HE spoke & taught of Adam & Eve in historic context as does Paul. Do people lay down their lives for mythology? Or Truth?

    • @Mrpargmatic
      @Mrpargmatic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@P.H.888 your idea of truth is a new invention- an era of modernism. We were taught fiction and non fiction. So, nothing like that existed before the end of the enlightenment. Some people expect everything to be “scientific” this is just the current myth of the age. When applied to the Bible, it’s called biblical literalism. My point, it’s your personal expectation of what constitutes truth that should be examined.
