I just finished reading a book "Things might go terribly, horribly wrong" and I lernt two very important things: 1. Ambiguity causes most of our anxiety - Questions with no answers, questions with no right answer, chasing answers to unanswerable questions, trying to solve problems that have no good solution, being so focused on problem-solving that we start to see problems where there are none,... 2. Just 'sit' with ambiguity and anxiety. Anxiety is fear of things going wrong in the future so be present, sit with your anxiety, get to know it as a thing separate from you. Sit, breath, take a moment to not problem solve. It is really helping me with decluttering my mind since I realized that the world our mind creates is NOT real and our inner words to ourselves are the monsters we are affraid off. (Disclamer: If there is a bear or a serial killer after you, that's real. Run as fast as you can.)
@@justineleconte Kind of both, lol. The book explains that humans lived in immediate danger most of the time (weather, animals, other humans) so now, when we live in an ordered society and don't face danger to our lives around every corner, our minds are going in overdrive and create problems and monsters that are not there just because that's what it's use to do through an evolutionary processes... I don't know if I'm explaining it clearly but the book is really helpful.
Another quote I know goes like this „Minimalism doesn't mean you don't own things, but that things don't own you.”. For this extra 2 hour period: my daily TM meditations are the most essential part of my day. Walks or simply being in Nature, are a close second. You are one of my best discoveries during my all-alone covid isolation! I am glad to have found you ❤ 💕 Have learnt so so much from you and I keep revising your videos to keep ky memory fresh 😇😇
I started practicing minimalism 2/3 years ago being inspired by your video. Since then, I’ve been very happy and satisfied. I do buy good quality ( and reasonably priced stuff) but I’m using it all the time, every day. I recently naught the same yoga pants that I was wearing for 2 years 4 times a week for yoga and cardio( washing after each use)! I minimized my makeup and facial product and use the same products for the past 3 years! I can’t thank you enough for inspiring me and making me have piece of mind! In my “ me time” I do love go for a hike specially with my sister and my husband. The after feeling of being in the nature and try new paths out of my comfort zone is priceless!
Mlle Leconte - thank you for your "minimalism in progress" - it is a very positive attitude for modern life. I would also like to let you know that your overall positive videos are a much needed and much appreciated alternative to celebrity gossip and negative news. Thank you for all you do.
A much needed video and so relatable! I'm such a maximalist and I really really need to minimalize my life. This gives me the much needed motivation to declutter my stuff!
I identified with your comment about how you can work around and walk around things lying on the floor. I no longer feel so alone. I began a declutter of my space last year. I watched a few series on NetFlix as well as some on TH-cam. There was many a night when I just felt like packing a small suitcase and abandoning my house. The process is a very emotional experience. I have not yet completed the process. I gave away over 2 500 books, a huge amount of clothing and household linens. I decluttered every drawer in the house. I found other homes for china and glassware. Today I am sorting out all my fabric and sewing supplies (my housemate moved out so a room has become available). It feels good to have order and hopefully know where things are.
I am also a designer and a minimalist but it’s an ongoing journey not a destination. I have dedicated two days to clear clutter and reorganize. Without that I can’t work. Thank you so much for your insight it’s been so helpful. I also bought myself a bike as my gym closed during our lockdown…3 days after rejoined the gym.
I watch all your videos and particularly loved this one because of the content (it brought me some kind of mental clarity) and the editing (I know it takes effort to add those few seconds of "vlogging" content here and there, but they truly make the video stick to our mind more). I was thrilled to hear that this following months you'll be releasing more videos!
I have always been appreciating a lot this kind of video of yours Justine ! It reminds me how much important it is to focus on what is essential for me to take care of myself and grow my mind and soul. Thank you !
Great Insights Justine! Merci Beaucoup! I am a minimalist and organized. It keeps me calm. I moved back to a CIty and now go to the gym the building. I spent literally months not doing any real exercise or wearing my clothes. I like to dress up and go to places by myself. Its so much more fun. I meet lots of people. I love to take day outs with myself. There are so many shops that have shut their doors it so sad. But we are all making the most of it...or at least I hope so. Hugs to you xoxo
I discovered running and because I m such a slow runner, this is my "me time". Clears the mind, improves the mood and sleep... All good things. Running outside in a country with 4 seasons is not an easy task for sport equipment, I m reluctant to cotton and also not so happy with poliester. I want to try wool but childhood memories with wool being scratchy keeps me away from it too. Hard... And winter is coming :=).
As a runner myself, I would recommand that you try merinos wool. It is soft, breathable, light and fight odors. The fabric is expensive, but it is definitively a good investment for many years.
Found some of this absolutely hilarious. I have a huuuuuuuuge mess problem. I look around and want to weep sometimes haha. I like your rug btw. Anyway-you did a brilliant thing getting that bike. I got a turbo trainer 5 years ago and it literally changed my life. I lost six stone (good eh?) and got heavily into sport and now do all my stuff at home-strength, yoga, etc. I’ve saved a total fortune on gym costs. You can sweat and make any funny noises you need haha then jump straight into your own shower. You can wear anything/not a lot cos no one can see you. Best decision ever!
PS I gave up TV during lockdown (weird I know) because I couldn’t find the remote (so lazy) but now I don’t miss it at all and in fact my mind is so much clearer without it.
Me time is all about stimulating my creative juices without too much brain power. Seeing a movie, going to a museum, touring a college campus, or simply sitting with a book and a coffee at the cafe are amazing me time activities. For my physical body, me time is having a one person dance party, going on a hike, taking some time to do yoga or kickboxing whether in a class or at home.
Yes! The Artist’s Way! I went through that book years ago. After watching you, I think I need to get back to my “morning pages” again. Great video. Thanks.
I can relate to ALL of this. I am also a minimalist in progress which extends to more than my material goods. I fell into poor habits (again) because I felt tired and overwhelmed. Somehow, wasting time watching tv and stepping away from "shoulds" like my gratitude journal or reading great books, seemed like giving myself a break. But it was really taking away the things from my day that are meaningful and bring me peace. I have felt so much better this week since I started getting up earlier, going to bed earlier, reading my beloved stack of books, etc. Thank you for such meaningful and inspiring videos!
Justine, totally agree with the minimalist lifestyle. I’m now in my mature years and would rather spend money on travel and experiences than material things that we tend to clutter our homes with then discard. Keep up the great videos!
Hi Justine! I also delayed buying a spinning bike in the pandemics but since I did it, six months ago, it changed my life! I totally understand your point. After all, minimalism is also about accepting our needs and trying to match them with our goals. Thank you for the video!
I love how you are straight to the point! And, yes, I thought the same too. It's been an abnormal year so let's see if I'll put those clothes on again after the lockdown. I am determined to declutter after watching this video! xxx
I just want to say that I loveeee your videos and your content. You made me fall in love with fashion and minimalism (well, it's still a long way to go, but for starters). Thank you so much!
I recently found your channel and have watched some episodes. I would just like to leave a comment to say that I really appreciate your content and wellproduced, no-fuss videos. But I'm also quite taken by your personality! You have a very likable approach, wich makes your videos even more enjoyable to watch! Thank you ❤

I'm glad that I decided to watch this update. So relieved to see that I am not alone having very dramatic workstation :) need to declutter workspace, wardrobe, laptop and mind.
I JUST LOVE you Justine!!!!! I’m gonna binge all your videos again over the next couple days!! I really wish I knew more people like you, who really consider the people and ethics behind the fashion. These concepts extend to so many industries and not just fashion!! Everyone is always so worried about the immediate investment rather than the long term success. I too had been thinking about getting some sort of cardio machine at home. The lock downS definitely got me so out of my running routines. I know some people continued but when you’re being stopped, questioned and threatened by fines by the police you sort of just become a hermit. Also, long term you’ll save so much money rather than throwing it all into a gym.
You're a fantastic coach, Justine. You're so well organised and prepared. You give the impression of having everything together and thought through. It's very inspirational.❤️
Been watching you for a couple of years, I'm so happy you're still making content! I admire your perspective on things and look up to you for it. Keep being great and a source of inspiration :)
- The Artist's Way 3pp/day - I did that for a brief period in 2019. This week I found value in re-reading those pages. - Did you consider getting a regular bike, does Berlin have good cycling paths in/around the city? Fresh air + sport. - Minimalism - I'm glad you described as an ongoing process, because that's how I've found it to be. Not a 'one and done' experience. - Organizing - I'm going to take a tip from your video on using the calendar to book time for these boring, perpetual tasks.
You are such a good teacher on whatever you talk about;). I love to be organized. But its always a work in progress. If there are messes, it feels like my mind is a mess. You did a good job of cleaning up with shelves and donating. One thing I used to do a long time ago when I was extremely busy was: right before bed I would "download " ALL of my thoughts and feelings unedited on paper. It really helped me go to sleep without all that stuff running through my mind. Also, I kept everything to a minimum: clothes, makeup, misc stuff, etc. So glad you got your own spin bike. Important to keep a routine that works for you. Take care, see you next time 👏👏👏🤗🤗❤❤❤🙏
Merci, Justine! I've been slowly decluttering, room by room, constantly amazed by how much stuff I've been keeping "just in case." It's a bit like the sunk cost fallacy in economics: I invested in a thing that I once wore/used, but no longer wear/use, but have kept it anyway because I invested in it, plus you never know. Time goes by, & suddenly I realize I'm burying myself in stuff, creating physical walls around things I'd rather not do, wear, or clean. Of course, it's all dusty. Yikes. Thanks for sharing your decluttering journey with us & for inspiring me to keep going. Now when I want to buy something, I think, "Will this become another forlorn 'objet d'art' that will ultimately sit ignored, 'decorating' my closet or floor & collecting dust?" BTW, great solution for those too-full spin classes!
Fantastic video! Thank you Justine. What a refreshing take on minimalism 👍👍 by the way, a bun is such a flattering hair style for you 😍 have a wonderful weekend! Jo
Just want to thank you for making this video. I had a choice to watch either this video or another youtuber’s expensive Sephora haul video-and I chose this one, which seems like that other video’s opposite! Here to show support for decluttering and downsizing to make space for what brings real energy and joy. Love your channel!
After years of unemployment and stress, I finally got a job in Berlin, where I'm moving this week after 3 years in Lyon. The anxiety of paperwork, decluttering, packing and giving up some things is REAL. The past few years have taken a toll on my health, mostly physically. So I can't wait to follow your advice, and try to be more active and mindful of myself!
OMG! Totally off topic, but I love that trunk 😍! Ok, I'm back. I am also clearing out the clutter in my life and home. It feels great when I let go of things 🧘🏾♀️.
Thank you for this video, Justine! I've always hated clutter so I find it easy to keep things fairly minimal but if one is not alert to it, it can easily get away on you!! Now I have to work on clearing my mind as you describe!!
Justine: "Floor, my dear love, I want to see you again. Can we start over?". Floor: "Only if you agree to let go of all the unnecessary things in your life. Clean slate and all that". Justine: "Deal! I promise, you'll be 'floored' by how decisive I can be!". Love this video Justine :) Also, so excited to hear you got rid of your TV! Never heard of anyone regretting that decision :)
Thank you for a great video. I very much enjoy watching your vids because of how simple they are…straight to the point. I don’t know what I would do with any me time! I rarely have any so I think I’d be overwhelmed with the options!
Dear Justine, thanks so much for this video. I think I deal with clutter in my apartment well but I was feeling so hopeless about the clutter in my mind. I recently lost my job and my mind is all over place. On the one hand, I'm applying for jobs and on the other hand, I want to work on my creativity. Now, at least, I know what steps to take to declutter my mind. I got the book and will start the morning pages. Hugs!!!
I've missed so much seeing your videos! Big fun here!😘 I have a stepper, maybe I should buy a buycycle but..it takes much more space...hmm. Your videos are for me mood boosters!
I didn't declutter during the pandemic. I worked from home, but never worked more or harder in my life. I noticed I avoided my polyester pieces since lockdown. I am currently decluttering my ployester pieces replacing key pieces in that material with ones that contain natural fibers or a mix of nautral and synthetic fibers. I don't buy any polyester now, and that is the easiest way not to purchase new clothing. I found new ways to dress down more formal clothing rather than parting with it. Lastly, I am part of freecycle community on social media, where give away items we no longer need, but can also ask for items or to borrow items for a period of time. This reduces consumption, waste, and prevents clutter from happening in the first place. I love it. Why buy paint at a craft store for a single project, when my neighbor can give me the tube of paint they have in their home from a previous project that they will most likely never use again. I've decluttered a vase from flowers I was gifted to a bride to use for her wedding decorations, and whole pieces of furniture that I would not make money on if I tried to sell. And the list goes on. I encourage you to see if these groups exist in your area.
I'm still in a long process of minimalism but I really relate to focus on things that gives you energy. I really like writing stories and reading but things got annoyed by other routine or stuffs that I want to do like learning languages or hanging with my friends offline or online, then all of sudden I decide to 'switch off' those routine and focusing more on writing and reading. It really helps me to gain more energy and somehow my work is managed better when I have time for things I really want to do. Of course learning language is still on my list but now I just want to do one step at a time~

Have learnt so so much from you and I keep revising your videos to keep ky memory fresh 😇😇
Thank you for all you do.
thanks a lot!
Very wise. It is all about the journey and how we live it. It sounds you are finding a good balance.
2500 books, wow! Well done on downsizing!
Thank you !
“The Artist’s Way” and Morning Pages are the best. 👍
I think you are fabulous. I am currently working my way through all of your videos and I now think you are even more fabulous.
Merino wool running tops are excellent. Icebreaker make t shirts and stuff. They aren’t cheap but often are in sales and last forever!!
As a runner myself, I would recommand that you try merinos wool. It is soft, breathable, light and fight odors. The fabric is expensive, but it is definitively a good investment for many years.
Excellent presentation! Congratulations on your interesting videos.
Thank you very much!
Loved watching your video Justine❤️ Great minimalism tips!
Love, peace and joy to everyone reading my comment❤️
Your videos are so calming 🥺🥺 and informative I love them they made me relax when Im starting to drown at work
This was great to see views of your life. How human. Makes me see you as more relaxed.
Yes! The Artist’s Way! I went through that book years ago. After watching you, I think I need to get back to my “morning pages” again. Great video. Thanks.
I don't do morning pages all year either, but every now and then, when I feel like I need it 😊
I can relate to ALL of this.
I DO LIKE THE ENERGY THAT YOU ARE GIVING ,merci vraiment !
I love you and your channel, Justine! So appreciate this video. Happy fall!🍁
I love how you are straight to the point! And, yes, I thought the same too. It's been an abnormal year so let's see if I'll put those clothes on again after the lockdown. I am determined to declutter after watching this video! xxx
Part of my Me Time is definitely watching your great videos, because they are calming and educational at the same time ❤️
I just want to say that I loveeee your videos and your content.
Thank you ❤
You're an inspiration Justine! These are all great ideas.
Ohh this is such a wonderful treat to find there's a new Justine video after a loooong week and an even longer Friday at work!
Love these lifestyle-shakeup videos. Very helpful.
I absolutely love your channel, been a subscriber for a few years and you never seize to amaze me, I always learn something new from you! Thank you so very much for all you do😊
So lovely of you to share real wisdom
Thank you x
enjoyed this so much. I feel your energy is back and it's so good to see. thank you for your thoughtful and informative video.
I enjoy your honesty, humble and positive attitude. Thank you. Subscribed😍
welcome on the channel !
I'm glad that I decided to watch this update. So relieved to see that I am not alone having very dramatic workstation :) need to declutter workspace, wardrobe, laptop and mind.
Thanks, Justine! Thanks for the gentle motivation and inspiration to make better choices about the things around me and the things in my head.
Thank you for the inspiration...as a work in progress I found this uplifting.
You are so inspiring. Your voice and manner are very encouraging. Great viewing!
Well done! Wishing you the best for your future progress. Thanks so much for reminding me to get back into morning pages.
there is something very satisfying about the morning pages...!
Thank you Justine, not just beautiful but also smart!
You're a fantastic coach, Justine. You're so well organised and prepared. You give the impression of having everything together and thought through. It's very inspirational.❤️
Lovely video
Congratulations on joining the ”No TV" tribe. I got rid of mine in 1985, and like you, discovered lots of extra time and peace of mind.
Been watching you for a couple of years, I'm so happy you're still making content! I admire your perspective on things and look up to you for it. Keep being great and a source of inspiration :)
Lovely video with some good thoughts and reminders. Your videos always relax me.
I want endless quality family time 💖
- The Artist's Way 3pp/day - I did that for a brief period in 2019.
Take care, see you next time 👏👏👏🤗🤗❤❤❤🙏
Thank you justine ..for all your good qualities..i am always pleased and calm after watching!
Best thoughts🍃🍂🍃🍁🍃🍂🍃
What a refreshing take on minimalism 👍👍
by the way, a bun is such a flattering hair style for you 😍 have a wonderful weekend! Jo
I love your approach to minimalism. Thank you for sharing!
Just want to thank you for making this video. I had a choice to watch either this video or another youtuber’s expensive Sephora haul video-and I chose this one, which seems like that other video’s opposite! Here to show support for decluttering and downsizing to make space for what brings real energy and joy. Love your channel!
Very interesting points of view coming from your experience. Minimalism is a long and winding road. ☺ Thank you, Justine!❣
The prettiest woman in the world! Logical, talented and kind.
Yes on TV point! We don’t have it currently but when we move, we are getting a projector.
Great video and great advice as usual! You've reminded me that I have the power to change the dynamic if it's not clicking. Have a lovely day!
I am new to your channel, and yes we are inundated with too much today🙄😉. Yes, love the quiet walks, museums, silence is golden❤
Honestly, this came on time for me❤️❤️❤️thank you
same !
OMG! Totally off topic, but I love that trunk 😍! Ok, I'm back. I am also clearing out the clutter in my life and home. It feels great when I let go of things 🧘🏾♀️.
This video was simply marvelous! Thank you.
You are an inspiration! Your videos are always filled with quality content. I always feel so inspired watching
Thank you Justine. I find your videos and your "can-do" attitude uplifting. Stay healthy! MaryAnn
Love that you brought the gym to your home! Great idea
Thank you so much, Justine 💙
I'm still in a long process of minimalism but I really relate to focus on things that gives you energy. I really like writing stories and reading but things got annoyed by other routine or stuffs that I want to do like learning languages or hanging with my friends offline or online, then all of sudden I decide to 'switch off' those routine and focusing more on writing and reading. It really helps me to gain more energy and somehow my work is managed better when I have time for things I really want to do. Of course learning language is still on my list but now I just want to do one step at a time~
Wow...thank you. So true about everything even the mind clutter. Love watching you and learning from you
