Umbrel is taking the easy user interface approach - simplifying things and hiding complicated bits in the background. It is also newer, meaning there are only a couple basic applications you can use at the moment. In short, easier but less features for now. myNode is effectively the opposite approach. Packed with apps and power-user features, but also more difficult to navigate. Luckily you can explore one app at a time and don't have to use what you don't need.

Hi Ben, great tutorials, thank you! MyNode and Umbrel both seem to be doing pretty much the same stuff. What's the pros and cons of each and which ones would you recommend to start with?
Umbrel is not fully open source… i prefer the Raspiblitz
im on a tight budget. I have a Raspberry pi 3 B and a regular 1tb drive (no ssd). can i still do this? what are my limitations?
You can absolutely do this, it will just be longer to sync. Will still work tho
Thanks Ben. Is this equivalent to a lightning node where I can get paid for routing/funding others' transactions?
Yes - this implementation includes a lightning node.

I went to umbrella.local/start but the webpage will not load and go through, why?
umbrel.local/start ***
Get the SSD - if you don't- do not touch the USB. If it thinks you've removed it before selecting 'safely remove USB device' you WILL corrupt the chain, resulting in maybe a 7 day download... again
whats the difference with using Umbrel vs myNode for running a bitcoin node?
Umbrel is taking the easy user interface approach - simplifying things and hiding complicated bits in the background. It is also newer, meaning there are only a couple basic applications you can use at the moment. In short, easier but less features for now.
myNode is effectively the opposite approach. Packed with apps and power-user features, but also more difficult to navigate. Luckily you can explore one app at a time and don't have to use what you don't need.

What do you recommend for cold storage to secure the bulk of your bitcoin?
Coldcard is the best imo
I have also heard coldcard is best.
@@Felipe-fn7fp its the best for a variety of reasons. one of them is you are not tied any one wallet. you can choose a variety of open source wallets to pair it with electrum, wasabi, specter etc...
Can you use a 1tb micro sd for everything? is it possibly to use the PI as a satalite node?
Right now I believe a separate drive is required. I think it would also still save you money doing an SSD :)
Hi, awesome tutorial! What if the ssd gets full in the future? Do you keep it running 24x7 even when you travel or something? Thanks.
