I remember Matt saying it would have been cheaper to just build a new restaurant down the street, place was a mess. No one else could or would have gotten this done.
I'm reminded of the line from _Archer_ after Lucas Troy tries to sell Sterling on remodeling a derelict mansion into a B&B: "It would be cheaper to build a brand new house out of actual money."
The 40 USD dinner makes sense now lmao. This is a long term investment, and they'll be recouping for a while. Depends on if they continue to be popular.
Yeah it's not quite the same as it used to be, and Cartman permanently has a special seat in the house. But I suppose if it weren't for Cartman, Casa Bonita would be gone now.
My family moved to Lakewood in 1973 when I was 8 years old. I remember seeing Casa Bonita being built, and went there many times as a kid. I ADORE Trey Parker, and Casa Bonita is my happy place now! I worked there for 4 days in May 2023, right before the re-opening, and I got to meet Trey and Matt! I've visited twice since they re-opened, and I'm going again next month. Nice video! Glad you enjoyed it!
In the 1970's I was in the Air Force and stationed at Lowry AFB (before it was torn down). We watched as Casa Bonita was being built and wondered what that BIG PINK place was. We went in after it was first opened, and it was very popular. It was "cafeteria style", and the food was good. We really were impressed with the cliff divers. Years later around 2024 my spouse and I went back when we were out in Denver on a trip, and it was fine, but no cliff divers. It was no longer cafeteria style, but they had wait staff. It is good to hear that it has been renovated and opened again - with the cliff divers! I hope it does well. It should since it has been on South Park.
I used to live in CO before moving to IN. My family went there for birthdays (8 kids in the family). Best memories, along with White Fence Rach and the peacocks. I am DEFINITELY traveling back to CO with my wife and kids so they can experience it. We used to take the honey bottle and fill the sopaipillas the brim. Gosh dang, what memories. Hope to be there soon! Note: found this video after watching the Paramount Plus documentary. Thanks for posting.
I recon their mind process behind it when spending so much money was what’s the point of being billionaires if you can’t $40M on restoring one your childhood dreams. They knew it wasn’t business savvy, but the guys have a joint wealth of $1.3B that they will never spend. To them even if it was a loss leader project. They just wanted to give back to the community.
Exactly. Im sure a lot of Colorado natives wouldve done the same thing if they had that kind of money, Casa Bonita is such an iconic and beloved Denver landmark
I used to go there on field trips when I was a small kid in the 80’s, then moved far far away. It wasn’t until recently that I saw this place in the news. Lots of awesome early memories at this place. Thanks for uploading your visit! Def a walk down memory lane.
Just had the incredibly fortunate chance to go in May and it truly is a piece of a themepark in a strip mall. Like you said, they even have the backside of water! Such a wonderful, special place. Glad you were able to get there!
Way to go Casa Bonita, 'Big Bertha' rocks! It's not a game arcade otherwise. Thank you for the tour 'In the Loop'. Could feel your joy & excitement in your Vlog. Blessings ❤
Every time we took a trip down to visit relatives back in the 80s and 90s we would go there. The food was bland, but the atmosphere was always amazing.
The building for Casa Bonita is still there in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I did get to eat there before it closed, The food was okay, nothing fancy, refried beans , rice, lettuce tomato like salad, the dining area looks like caves, and they had the flags to raise at the table for more service! They need to reopen it! Wouldn't cost as much as the place in Denver!
I used to go to Casa Bonita's one a month when it was open in Tulsa. So many happy memories from Casa Bonita's. Down at the other end used to be Crystal's Pizza which was just as amazing as Casa Bonita's.
I am 60 y/o and we used to go to the one in Little Rock all the time but my parents also took us to Denver and I believe it was Oklahoma City or Tulsa as well. Denver was the BEST! I really would love to go here for my 61 Birthday in December and take my Grand Baby's ❤🎉🎉🎉
At the end of the month the general public can reserve a table via the website. The site will be flooded. They've had 2yrs of practice. Everything should be fine
When I was 10, I assumed South Park was just making this place up. Much respect to Trey and Matt for restoring it but only sticking in a few things from South Park and respecting the original theme of the place.
I remember reading something saying that they need to sale out the restaurant during its open hours every day for the next fifty year just to break even......
O.M.G. It looks amazing. I kid you not every kid in Wyoming from Casper down knew about this place. It's where my church grew from Laramie Wyoming would take us 😸 Fun times. I'm so glad the gentlemen have invested back into the community in such a wonderful way °~•.☆.•~° Hundreds of thousands of wonderful memories were made inside these walls °~•.⭐️.•~° Thank you!
Looks like it's not so much a restaurant as it is a themed attraction where food is included in the price of admission. The food itself will never be the best under those circumstances, but that's not really why you're there anyway.
wow... I worked at the Oklahoma City Casa bonitia as a freshman in college 40 years ago. WE didn't have near the appeal of Denvers but it was always packed out. I still rememember one family of diners that insisted I keep the 5 dollar tip and not put it in the tip jar.
The closest thing we have to at Casa Bonita is Panchos Mexican buffet, which there is still one left in Houston Texas. The Mexican food there is pretty good.
Food is way overpriced, but the renovations are great. I'm glad Parker and Stone saved it. Too many quirky themed restaurants from the 70s and 80s have long since died. The few that remain must be preserved!
How do they FIT all of that in there!? Looks awesome! I don't have kids myself but I still want to go there... once per week... for the rest of my life!
Meow wolf crossover? Og meow wolf? I grew up going to casa bonita in tulsa. Always asked to go there for my bday. Nostalgia much? Went to the denver casa bonita before the remodel. Cant wait to see the 2.0
They have recently announced they are changing the reservation system, the waiting list is going away and anyone can make reservations starting Sept 16 2024
The future has these video menu boards, where you can order virtual food while watching a video. Weird, they call it video games. #kylesmomwantsanaptera
Thank you for demonstrating use of the flag. That one confused me and you got to the point and didn't waste any of my time. You saved me the embarrassment i would have received if you didnt show that process. I appreciate it man God bless.
they really need to change the plating everything looks like such small portions but not in a good way it looks like slop slapped together quick and that is what you never want as a chef.
It seems you pay more for the experience and not a proper restaurant meal..although I did hear they hired a new Mexican executive chef..so I'm sure the food is better than before.
Seriously, 40 dollars for a taco salad or a couple of cheese enchiladas?sorry guys but I can get better Mexican food in Denver for less than half that. Do you guys seriously think people have that kind of disposable income? Good luck with your endeavor

42 million not including staffing and operating cost

40 million dollars to remodel the place I can’t wait to visit it one day . Great video.

"Well kid, you made an entire town panic, lost all your friends and now you're going to juvenile hall for a week". "Heh, was it worth it"?
"Totally".
I recommend watching the documentary of the remodeling "Casa Bonita, mi amor!" Trey Parker comments on this at the end.
Casa Bonita cliff diver is an epic resume WIN!
John: " it's a disney world of Mexican restaurants"- Kyle from south park.
Thank you Trey & Matt, I cannot wait to visit this place!
*Food and fun in a festive atmosphere!* 🕺🥳

0:49 that's the infamous Ricardo Montalban commercial. I haven't been able to find it on the internet...🤔
Wow its literally the Disneyland of restaurants! It looks fantastic! Im hoping I can go experience it soon.

They did a phenomenal job with the renovations! It's once again a must do when in Denver... if you can get in.

That's so freaking cool. 👍
I heard it was crappy microwave food before the remodel
It was horrible and most of the business came from elementary and middle schools field trips 😂😂😂 I hated it as a kid.
I heard now they hired a chef that specializes in Mexican food and judging by the video, it's legit.
I went a few years back before it was fixed up. Back when I went the food was absolutely disgusting. Good to see them doing well now.
Came here in 2009. Amazing experience. Huge fan of South Park
Great tour and review.
I can't wait to go

7:12 thats a Callie-O-Scope or Nickelodeon penny machine.
Was that menbearpig?
I think so, but not 100% sure
I'm so sad they removed that smaller waterfall wall by Black Bart's Cave. It was so pretty. 😕
Whenever i have enough money to travel i'll go there.
That’s amazing, so much to see and do, serious sensory overload though, wowsers!

This place should be rebuilt in Wisconsin Dells!
I still have a token for the arcade before they closed and got bought out.
Oh damn! Today I learned Casa Bonita was a real thing!
The heavy theming in that place is absolutely stunning that's a cool place

They spent 40 million to get that place fixed and running better than ever.
Calirado is looking great 👍🏽

Totally.
How much would be good estimate on how much spent here? I am going soon with my 3 kiddos under age of 10!
Adults dinner is $40. Kids dinner is $25. The rest depends on how much you spend on arcade, adult beverages and souvenirs.
That's so awesome. Question. How long was the wait to get an email to reserve? I signed up my email. Hoping to visit too. 🙏
Mine was about 8 months
7:44 why?
It's in LAKEWOOD!
Vegas needs one
Casa Bonita is the hardest restaurant to get into
You want it to be busy when you go there. I can't imagine going there when the restaurant is nearly empty. It's so huge.

I thought Frank Zappa passed away in the 90's.
OMG DID THE LEGEND JUST CRAP TREASURE YOU GUYS!?
How is this real? This is one of those things people will marvel at once its gone
I highly recommend you go there and if you're gonna eat the food I would also bring a second pair of underwear.
The dream
They are monitizing the shit out of it.
Understandable when you are 40mil in the hole.
manbearpig or gorilla????
3:37 did thatvrice move? Lol just kidding looks like some fell
are Vampires Lame ?
Way overpriced the food is not that much better compared to the price increase the building does look nice though
😢 well that disappointing to hear. I was hoping that would be their main focus
Is there an entrance fee? Because the food costs include the whole theme park area. Go to a cheap restaurant if you want fair priced food.
It seems you pay more for the experience and not a proper restaurant meal..although I did hear they hired a new Mexican executive chef..so I'm sure the food is better than before.
The fried beans look like they were made out of Play-Doh
You pan the camera too fast and too often made me motion sick
Overpriced and loud. What a great dining experience?

amok.
