This is amazing! The man at the tiller of the boat, running the Seagull outboard, is my great-grandfather Stanley "Pop" Carter! I'd never seen a moving image of him until this moment. My Dad found this so moving to see - Pop came to Canada to help raise my Dad shortly after the time this film was taken. Would love to know if there is any other film you've found of boating on the Yealm from around that time, or anything else of people in Newton Ferrers around 1950. Thanks so much for posting this!
