Huge help; my Highlanders headlights had yellowed so I bought some shiny new ones; kind of figured I would have to dismantle the nose of the truck to get the old ones out. This video will save me a ton of time hunting for hidden bolts
Thank you so much. So much easier than I thought it would be. Two new headlights for $125! Would have cost me $500 or $600 at the dealer. Thanks again.
Thank you for making this awesome video - hubby followed it step-by-step to replace our headlamp assemblies today. He really appreciated your detailed instructions.
Thank you for your clear, simple, and easy to follow instruction. Just bought a 2008 Highlander (❤️) and would like to replace the rear bumper from previous owners dents & bruises. Would love you to make a video showing that process! Thank you!
Thanks for the help. I am going to try to replace my brother's headlights this weekend. You are the first one who doesn't talk down to the average Joe. So for that I will subscribe.
I just wanted to say thank you. This was a great easy to follow video on how to replace the Toyota Highlander headlight. Great suggestion to buy some extra tab/connectors before hand. I'll look forward to following you doing other repairs on the vehicle as ours ages gracefully.
I used this video today for a 2010 Highlander & successfully replaced both headlamp assemblies. Thank you so much for your detailed, clear and helpful instructions. Perfect amount of detail! Thank you.
Thank you for a great step by step!!!!!! however you should also mention the fact you should remove the white padded shim that keeps the light off the quarter panel. Also, the light has a lip on the bottom that has to be slid to the right then up in order to remove. You can't just pull the light out. I had several plastic pieces snap due to that. Just a courtesy! Thanks again.
John Drummond; Thanks !! I was wondering if he was forgetting some things. He also mentioned "one little plug" but did not show it. It may be easy to find, I am not sure yet but this little left out tip costs me a lot of time and i broke some costly tabs on another vehicle I was working on. The cost was high enough that I used glue, tape and tie strips to jerry-rig it together. = less than a quality job. Hopefully not here and probably not but it would've been helpful. It costs him a like. An incomplete on report card for a potentially good vid. Grandpa always said "don't cut corners and critically review your work. Which is lacking with You Tubers in too many cases
thank you for the i was planning to do it bc i plan to replaced them they are too yellow i have try all options to cleaning but nothing work for long term have you had replaced the coolant if u have any video of it thank you
Some of the newer LED headlights aren't adjustable at all but many are. They are usually adjusted by twisting the light in the base but each manufacturer should include instructions if they support adjustment.
Excellent video! Do you recommend switching to LED headlights, or will that result in minimal improvement? I'm thinking about just replacing the yellowed headlamp assembly and putting HID lamps in the fog lights.
Thanks. I definitely recommend going with LED now. Take a look at my other video where I compared them in the Highlander. th-cam.com/video/F2-Pc6TDjgY/w-d-xo.html
For completeness, is there an image or video of how you connected the new headlight units after the old one was taken out and what it looked like after? I have a 2003 model.
@@ClintHolland it did both front and back i needed to change the lamps i was happy and still happy for your direction. Lol thank you again and God bless
Dealer told me this was a 2.5 hour per side job. A total of 5 hours at $195 per hour, Lens cost are $365 per side... Do the math,,, Thank you for making this video..
This video came up for a 2005 Toyota Highlander, and does not have the same layout. Not sure why it is associated with a 2005. Your more detailed description indicates 2008.
Take a look at this video of mine or pick up a Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit from your local auto parts store. They work great too. th-cam.com/video/6iwY8E8YTDg/w-d-xo.html
ohh wow, i thought it would be a 3 screws thing and now you are taking a bumper off... yeah thats a NO. ill just blow hot air thru the lightbulb hole :)
Just had our 2008 highlander serviced at a Toyota dealership and they wanted $800 to replace a headlight housing!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH...

Wonderful instructions and really appreciate the advice to undo most of bumper. I was able to replace both headlights in less than an hour. Thank you!
Thank you. Glad I could help.
I thought it would be allot easier but for what I need to do I'll just leave them on but thank u buddy so Mutch for the tutorl
It should be a lot easier. There is no reason for any manufacturer to make it this hard to do.
It helps a lot I have a 2008 Highlander i am pretty sure now i can do it keep up the good work
You absolutely can do it. Good luck.
Thank you for the tutorial. Very helpful.
Awesome. Glad it helped.
Awesome saved me time in my 1st headlight upgrade to LED headlights
Excellent! Thank you! Off to change both headlight assemblies due to fogging.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
This is great - thanks! Is it the same process for a 2013 model? I'm from Australia, and we call a Highlander, Kluger here.
It's pretty close but not exact. They changed a little from 2011 on I believe. You can probably still use this video to help you get it done.
very clear and helpful
Thank you , it was a big help.
Glad I could help.

Helped heaps!
Do you know how to adjust these headlights or ones you have put in as a replacement?

Thank you. Glad it helped.
For completeness, is there an image or video of how you connected the new headlight units after the old one was taken out and what it looked like after? I have a 2003 model.
There isn't because I didn't actually replace them. I just took them out to fix the moisture issue.
Excellent! Thanks!!!
Thank you sooooo much for your direction
Hope it helped you get your light out.
@@ClintHolland it did both front and back i needed to change the lamps i was happy and still happy for your direction. Lol thank you again and God bless
Very very VERY helpful!! Saved me a ton! Thanks a bunch

Very helpful, can you do a video about replacing the bulbs on a 2016 Honda Pilot ?
Unfortunately, I don't have a Honda Pilot. However, see if this video helps. www.carcarekiosk.com/video/2016_Honda_Pilot_EX_3.5L_V6/lights/headlight
Clint Holland thanks for all the help
You mention your "other video" about "getting the water out". Where do I find that video? BTW - thanks for all your great work!
Take a look here. th-cam.com/video/txkWsCXzzPc/w-d-xo.html
Dealer told me this was a 2.5 hour per side job. A total of 5 hours at $195 per hour, Lens cost are $365 per side... Do the math,,, Thank you for making this video..
Wow. That is the first time I have heard of someone who got a quote to do this. Not completely surprised though.
Nice work! Have you done a video on replacing the rear wiper motor? I have the same 2008 Highlander and love it.
I have not but I will add it to the list.
Easy ,nice thank you
This was awesome man thanks so much
Thanks. Hope it helped.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing.
Of course. Hope it helped.
Good video, thanks
How about a 2001 highlander headlight assembly replacement vdeo
Unfortunately I don't have one of those to try out.
Thanks!
Do the headlights need realignment?
They do not.
A huge help thank you!
So below the headlight is a green connector, what is it for? Pls answer
I don't see a green connector below my headlight. Did you see it in the video? If so, let me know where in the video.
This video came up for a 2005 Toyota Highlander, and does not have the same layout. Not sure why it is associated with a 2005. Your more detailed description indicates 2008.
NICE VIDEO!! Could Toyota make it any more difficult! LOL!
Couldn't agree with you more. My Lexus is just as hard as well.
thanks for sharing
That's what I am here for. Thanks for watching.
THANKS! Keep up the great vid's.
Thank you.
Bolts Not #10's, they are 10mm hex heads
Thanks for the clarification.
How cani clear up the dullness of the lense
Take a look at this video of mine or pick up a Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit from your local auto parts store. They work great too. th-cam.com/video/6iwY8E8YTDg/w-d-xo.html
ohh wow, i thought it would be a 3 screws thing and now you are taking a bumper off... yeah thats a NO. ill just blow hot air thru the lightbulb hole :)
They don't make anything easy anymore.
Folks, when he says "Number 10", he really means a 10mm socket. There is no #10.
Exactly that.
Save ton of hours
Glad it helped.
How do you check for damage done by rodents?
Not sure I understand the question.
Whatba stupidly complicated design on Toyota’s part. You shouldn’t have to remove body panels to get at the screws.
I could not agree with you more.
Thank you! Very helpful!
Thanks for the kind words and for watching.
