Great video but I need to correct you when you said it couldn't be run on a inverter. 1500 watts at 240v is only 6.25 amps. We have a 2600w inverter and 400ah lithium battery in our caravan, connected to 700w of solar panel on the roof. We could easy run this Rainman unit for several hours a day, so yes, it can be operated using an inverter.
I know this was made a few years ago, but I am astounded that there are not many videos here on YT with 4WDer's using these. I mean this is perhaps THE BEST addition/inclusion to a touring setup. Unlimited pure fresh water ANYWHERE!. Along with the newer high tech/capacity solar systems which allow unlimited electricity, plus having unlimited water - they are both GAME CHANGERS. The 2 biggest issues when touring are both power and fresh water. Food comes third, but you can always take loads of food, but having water available anywhere is extremely important.
The guy is 100% Wrong about it not working with an Inverter. I am using mine with a Renogy 3000 Watt Inverter charger ( $650 ) and my power is 4 - 315amp hour Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries ($7500) My Solar ( 800 watts ) and wind generator ( 250 watts ) make MORE than enough power to keep my LiFeP04 batteries charged and the Renogy Inverter easily supplies enough wattage to run the unit. It only averages 1200-1500 watts when in full power mode and my inverter doesnt blink. It produces some heat, so we try and make water at night when it's not as hot
Based on my current knowledge on reverse osmosis,, it outputs pure pure water,, even without the necessary minerals the human body needs,, it is safe to drink for a while,, but might cause stomach aches on prolonged usage.. I suggest you look into it if you plan to use it as your main source of water
Apologies for the long comment,, but you can do a quick test.. you can't wash out soap out of your hands easily with fresh water,, try to wash it on different scenarios,, out of the Rainman,, with a bottled water,, and with normal tap water to see and judge the difference
You are correct that minerals get stripped out. Lots of opinions out there on this. We believe that if you are eating a normal diet, you will get more than enough minerals from the food you eat (salt on your food, etc.). However, if you are in a survival situation where you are not getting a healthy diet, then you should be considering mineral supplements if drinking desalinated water.
Rainman Desalination never thought I'd see a reply from the company itself,, awesome team. I totally agree with you,, but for some reason it upsets my stomach,, but there are plenty of mineral packets that we add to bottled water to replenish the salts. Definitely a solution for desalinated water as well. Can you please share an email address I can contact you guys with?
Mate, there is this thing called the Internet and Google. Incredibly going to Rainman Website will amazingly give you all this information - it is like magic!.
Emanuele Gallone it was mentioned in the video it outputs 100 liters an hour.. but I believe Honda estimated the consumption based on a conservative figure.. meaning.. if the Rainman is pulling 1500 watts,, and the generator is working much harder than average,, then it might be less than 8 hours.. but I leave it there to be corrected
With the Rainman petrol powered system, the ratio is about 160:1 fresh water to fuel ratio. Running the AC electric unit from a Honda generator will use a little more fuel than that due to the losses related to energy conversion. The generator converts mechanical energy to electrical energy, then our AC motor converts electrical energy back to mechanical energy. Our petrol powered unit has the pumps driven directly from a small Honda motor, so there are not the losses related to the electrical system. Still, both are quite efficient. Also, the AC electric system draws about 1250 watts.

Great video! Thanks for putting this together
Thanx for a great product.

will do!
Where can I find this

Next time we use it I will test it, or you can email Graham direct. He should be able to give you more info.

Hazza Bani Malek the email is in the description
Marine desalinators for yachts work off a 24 volt system 3000 watt inverter 400 ah lithium battrey 700 to 1000 watt solar
What does it cost to run and is filter membrane to be replaced and cost of these????
In Puerto Rico we are having many situations people going without water for 8 months now after hurricane Maria
hi, im not sure. you could mail Graham on graham@binkhamis.ae

What is the fuel to water ratio of that plant?
Hi, the generator runs for 8 hours on 4.1l of fuel. So a safe answer would be at the power needed to pressurize the Rainman you could halve that
So in 8 hours of functioning (at 4.1l of fuel) how many liters of water?

yeah absolutely, I would say it would run out in 4 hours.

the basic price for this setup not including the Honda generator, is about $7500 Australian Dollars.
It’s somewhat cheaper her in dubai.
