Canon always fix lenses at high prices for the VCM trio (24, 35mm and 50mm) they are all together priced at more than 4300USD (1399+1499+1499). It could be under 4000 USD altogether.
Well, you wouldn't. I'm sure that Canon released this lens for hybrid shooters (perfect for gimbal work) and photographers that don't need a 1.2 aperture or the cost and weight associated with it. I do wish it was a bit less expensive (~$999 US).
Amazing lens however this is more catered towards photographers looking for more of an affordable 50mm or someone looking to lighten their gear. I own the RF 50mm F1.2 therefore I personally have no interest in this one. Still a fantastic lens !
Lara Jade😳Last time I saw her was on Digitalrev TV. She is a serious and talented photographer.
Canon, I need all of these news lenses! Love my C70 and 18-80. I use that combo on my entire TH-cam channel.
Thanks for the news. Hope to see more Mrs. Jade work next 12 months.
wow I havent seen Lara make a video for a verry long time!! awesome video, cool
Sounds like she’s reading from a (Canon-approved) script.

Will Canon ever introduce another stills-oriented lens? It appears Canon has decided stills are dead and we have entered the video age.
@@billmartin1663 what would that look like? What do you mean?
The 28-70 f/2.8 was also released this year
How is this not a still lens? Lol
dopepics AI fixes this. Canon explores RF50mm F1.4 lens.
Price?
USD 1399
If only there would be the promised C400 to go with these lenses... Every TH-cam'er has one, but still not one C400 in the shops.
😀👍
why would i buy this when i have 50mm 1.2 lol canon lost their mind lol

As a wedding guy, I will shelf my 1.2 in a heartbeat for this. The pre order button is still smoking from how fast it was clicked last night.
@@Jtib-l6cwhat advantages do you like about it over the 1.2?
If you shot as much or more video than stills, this would be a better lens for you. The f/1.2 for stills. The f/1.4 for video.
@@Jtib-l6c im a wedding guy too im not wasting money on that i did fine now why waste the money when the 1.2 is better anyway
