I always found it strange yet wholesome for Leper and Jester. You would expect jester hating any monarchy for his treatment yet we all know that Baldwin would never go so low. Jester might even see Leper as a King he would still play to. And Leper in process has motivating taste of his own life to stand fast and protect his people.
I'm surprised you didn't throw in Jester/GR as the second GR combo, with Jester's consistent token generation for GR's crits, and both never getting in the way of eachother's movement. Getting the other two team members right might be a bit harder because of their movement, but they play off of eachother incredibly well, in my opinion.
cadaver caravan is my favorite Team RN. It may not be the best, but it is so fun to have a character that studys the dead, a character that robs the dead, a character that wants to be dead, and a character that SHOULD be dead.
One thing I want to point out that I think gets overlooked is Man-At-Arms works really good with a Scourge Squad (Alchemist PD, Deadeye GR with Darts, and Scourge Flagellant) due to Strategic Withdrawal being an underrated complement for Mastered Sepsis vs high hp enemies. You don't need to spam it due to the longer cooldown of Sepsis, but it does give you a combo token for one big nuke on turn 2 or 3 after the rest of the crew has stacked up comical amounts of blight for Flagellant to abuse with Sepsis without clearing it while also having a tanky character to cover the lower HP of Alchemist & GR. Not something you need on all the time mind you but something to remember you have available.
as someone still playing DD1, DD2 sounds so weird, but the possibility of running different archetypes of the same character seens really fun, i liked the idea of a damage oriented occultist for one
One duo I had a lot of success with is Vestal and Occultist, specifically with Burning Stars spam. Getting a Burning Stars with a strength token for like four turns in a row vaporises most encounters, and was how I beat Obsession for the first time.
This is precisely why jester is the second best character in the game (second only to MMA) purely because of encore and all the shenanigans that it can help realize. Interestingly enough the helion-jester combo is one of my favourites because encore NOT ONLY ALLOWS FOR THE MOVE TO BE USED RIGHT AFTER HIM BUT IT ALSO TRIGGERS THE COOLDOWN ONE TURN EARLIER. Honorable mention goes to arsonist RW (i finally found a way to make her work!) that's placed on position two. Add in a plague doctor on position four and you have amazing coverage! My turn one is usually encore>swan>firefly (amazing move removes pesky dodge/ guard tokens)> plague grenade> howling end for the finisher. By turn two the enemy team is downright shredded and then the fire bomb on the iron swanned target (which gives a combo when upgraded!) comes in to finish the job. Thank you so much for your content, huge fan of your videos!
I think Jestal is way better than the first game. You can go T1 Solo and Light on rank 1, then turn 2 you finale and due to the speed token, you always go first, ensuring that someone else also gets the benefit of the light consecration since jester goes back to rank 4. It can be the shell of a neat dance team, and that's before you mention having both forms of recovery without being as passive as this combo was in the first game. Some things worth mentioning as well, GR plus HWM can enable double lunge if you want to go that route, and PD+Flag has the alternative route of flag going with Maniac, letting you concentrate all the negative tokens onto one guy for disgusting IS heals
@@destroyermaker I'm admittedly theory crafting - I had all of the character unlocks in the beta but took a break before flag and vestal came out (got all the candles by editing my save file tho 😅). Consecration of Light is the pay off that I would personally try to build around, but I haven't unlocked it yet, and vestal without divine comfort or consecration of light is *bad*. The grind to get all her abilities has been painful lol
Awesome idea for a video. I'm curious if you're planning on doing more region-specific guides like the one you did for the Sprawl? I'm finally feeling OK-ish with building teams and stuff but still not super comfortable knowing how certain enemy/boss mechanics work. Also I don't know how to route a lot of my runs since sometimes it's out of my control. Some kind of guide on which teams/skills to take for certain regions + bosses would be rad!
I just beat DD2 a week ago! Thank you ShuffleFM for all your guides, couldn't have done it without you. One duo I think is pretty good is Hellion + Occultist Hellion in position 1 can deal good melee damage to enemy positions 1, 2, and 4. But she can't hit position 3, and she doesn't have corpse-clearing abilities Occultist can Daemon pull enemies from the back to the front for Hellion to hit, clear corpses, and combo them for Hellion to hit for extra damage! And for boss fights, Hellion's Howling End combined with Occultist's Falling Stars, BOOSH, if you get CRITS, you will be doing 100+ damage with just these two!
I want to name the duos here just for fun. Feel free to add your own to the comments. Obligatory big empty space for those who want to watch the video first without spoilers. Doctor and Patient. (PD+Flag, guess who is who.) The Bourassas (HWM is Chris Bourassas favorite and GR default name is the name of Bourassas wife) The King and the Clown (self-explanatory if you know both backstories). Science of Magic (PD is the scientist, Occu is the mage) The Helpful Advisor (Occultist looks similar to the Lepers old advisors, so it is not hard to imagine him as being the only good and loyal one Leper had). Cultural Exchange (Holy nun meats tribal warrior) The Survivalists (Both know how to survive on their own) The King and the Pauper (also self-explanatory) The Swiss Army Performer (ok, seriously this one is a cop-out) The Militia commander (yeah, naming "one + everyone else" comps is hard)
Occultist + Runaway: Occultist tries to heal a teammate and they bleed Runaway can cure the bleed and get a extra heal on your tank so bleeding becomes a good thing. Also because they are good combo markers they synergize by feeding eachother tokens or giving tokens for other teammates. Highwayman + Man-At-Arms: Both have the only ripostes in the game and they can get a lot of damage output and tanking for the front, and Highwayman can use pointblank shot and then MAA uses strategic withdrawel to put Highwayman back to rank one for another point blank shot which would be good for his Rouge Path. Also MAA can token the second unit with strategic withdrawel and dismas can stun it with pistol shot or dismas use point blank shot and MAA stuns it with shield.
I only recently realised that the lore reason behind Leper having accuracy issues is because the leprosy messes with his vision/eyes. I just thought it was difficult to hit with that huge chunk of a sword. Speaking of, in the lore for the Leper, when he goes to his blacksmith to get his sword made, why does he get this huge ass sword, especially when he is already weakened and suffering from leprosy???? You don't need that big of a sword to fight some old puny traiterous advisors! Unless the Leper specifically requested for this size of a sword, just to flex on his assassins.
its path specific but jester and runaway has a really fucking neat combo. survivor + intermezzo whenever you want to heal someone, you can force a bleed using a play in or out skill. more fun yet is if you add highway man and graverobber to make a true dance comp.
I can see ShuffleFM is a fan of Lepper. Best duo for Lepper is MAA, because he removes blind, give strength buff, apply combo token and tanks better. Second best duo is OC and RW, great phisical and dot ranged dmg plus synergy in healing, one apply bleeding and the other removes it. Easy full life heal. Vestal and MAA, duo guard with mantra is great.
About the duo guard thing, could you give me a rundown on it cuz I've tried running that with a bonk vestal but only 1 guarded token is allowed on the team. Maybe it's been patched out or I tried it out wrong.
And this is why Occultist - Runaway - Leper - Hellion is one of my favourite teams. Synergy up the wazoo. Blight is the other. Any other equally synergistic teams out there?
When I unlocked cruel intend (if I'm not wrong) the dark impulse trinket that gives a 66% crit chance if blind. I build a team of Leper, Rumaway, Jester and occultist and BOI it does feel good hitting crit Leper almost every turn
Encore into double plague grenade+ with favorite toy is just so fucking disgusting. What is that... 10 damage a turn for both backlines + around 4-5 from the 2 hits. Thats like both cheerubs turn 1
I know everyone on here's sharing about their favourite team-ups but I just wanna share that I beat the third act of the last boss with only Scourge Flagellant left alive and the boss at 700 hp. I had the Misstep trinket equipped that gives +75% max hp and -50% dmg so with a belly full of food Flag was sitting on 98 max hp and with some inn buffs to healing received he would not die. What did it was the amount of toxic meltdowns (prob. like 12-13 I think) I mean dude had a -130% dbr at the end of it but the boss just couldn't get him down to 0 hp without him healing from either More! More! or skipping a turn. Turns out the healing for skipping resets after meltdowns and sometimes flag gets lucky and heals from it. Blight dmg got up to 40+ dmg per turn and I was doing 54-90 dmg with Sepsis every couple of turns. I genuinely think you could consistently solo the last Boss with Scourge flagellant with a little bit of setup.
Really interesting video. seen the team i used to get Hard Mode and Grand Slam represented allot. PD alchem, Occultist Warlock, Man Van, Hellion Rav. Try it out if u havent
Really liked Hellion and PD, on ravager the hellion bleeds randomyl and then PD can heal and remove bleed. Blinding Gas lets Hellion just kill the front linwe with Howling End like she should be and if you are blessed enough to have a Jester then encore can let hellion Toe to Toe and is close to doing it all again
I still dont have an Idea why people think exanimate flagellant is Beter then scourge flagellant. Scourges deathless is Just so good and He is still a damage sponge with damage output
A very important question I need to ask is this: Grave Robber appears to be your favourite but your profile pic is Plague Doctor so who is really your favourite? (I love both.) :)
