    I just picked up a nail on my 2009 Heritage. I was hoping that I could do it myself, but I don't have one of those big tools to break the bead and remove the tire. And at my age, I'm not sitting on the ground beating that thing with a hammer and big screw drivers. I'll take it off the bike and take it to a local shop to get a new tire. Thanks for showing how it should be done, though. It was a big help.

      I will tell you a little secret. Even though I have that that tool, I would not be ashamed to pull it and take it somewhere where they have bigger tools and the right balancing equipment. I can still do these on the ground or with the tool, but is it worth the time and effort? It depends on how cheap I feel and how many subsequent days I want to give up to allow my back to recover, lol. Unfortunately, my local Harley dealer would not do one unless I bought the tire and tube there, and other smaller local shops do not inspire much confidence in me.
      Glad it helped. All the best!
      Eddie

      @@theeddies Thanks for the reply. And for subscribing to my channel. My most recent videos are of my bike projects. This flat makes #5. Cheers!

      @@willphelps6715 I look forward to taking a look later. I have found a lot of great channels from people commenting. It is actually a good under used way to promote your channel. I will usually take a look if I see that a commenter has subscribers. I use a Chrome extension called VidIQ that shows that and other interesting info about videos and channels.
      All the best!

    thinking about replacing my rusting chrome spokes with galvanized and while i'm at it sealing the rim and converting the wheel to tubeless. probably the most frustrating thing about having a harley with wire wheels is not being able to fix a flat with a simple plug on the side of the road. get a flat on one of these hogs and your only option is a tow truck or temporarily filling the tube with slime and praying it will hold until you get home

    I'm riding same bike year, but on cast wheels... Try doing it on the road trip... I take with me "repair" kit, with cast wheel is way easier than with spokes and inner tube...

      "Try doing it on the road trip" No thanks lol. I agree , cast wheels would be much simpler for simple flat. I have changed dirt bike tubes in the field as it were, but that is whole other thing than a 800 lbs bike.

    Next time save removing exhaust and just remove the shock bolts. Then lift the bike from the ground and the bolt will clear the exhaust underneath.

    Does seem a bit scary at first. Do those pulleys wear out, or get bent or something??

    • @theeddies
      @theeddies  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is scary at second as well. They do wear out. Not from the belt as much as the grit that gets picked up and run though it. I have seen one where a rock ran through it and shredded some teeth. Pretty sure mine is fine but it does show some wear. I will try to get a close up in the next video.

      @@theeddies Makes sense. I imagine once it's worn or chewed up a bit, then it will shorten belt life, be noisy, and maybe reduce performance.

      @@johnstrange6799 Definitely shorten belt life but it is hard to reduce the performance of a Harley more than it already is:-)
