I have a Hex which is working fine. I am interested in purchasing a AX2 for use as a travel router, in order to connect back to the HEX using Wireguard. The question is some hotels use a portal whereby we’re required to enter a user name and password. Where would I enter this information ?
Those "captive portals" are rather smart. They will limit access to your client (in this case, travel router) until you've fulfilled a requirement over another protocol (in this case, most likely HTTP (but there are other methods, see dot1x)). This is generally not very achievable since your travel router would need to be aware of the specific captive portal authentication mechanism (and over HTTP, that's a tough cookie). There are ugly workarounds where you either (a) use your travel computer of choice as the bridge between your router and the hotel wifi, (b) use a funky method of mac spoofing to agree to the TOS as a faked "your router" interface, or (c) bypass the hotel captive portal by funky methods such as DNS or ICMP tunneling.
Could you expand the setup by including on how to extend WiFi network but using LAN cable as input?
