Thanks for sharing this video with us. Your Barbs look great!! I had bred Zebra Danios using 2 1/2 and % 1/2 gallon aquariums ,and lining the bottom with glass marbles. Egg layers can be very simple to breed and the fry can be raised with powdered foods and the fry are very hardy.

I am from the United States and I am not sure if you are able to order from Amazon but you can buy bird netting fairly cheap and a large sections and you can put polls up and enclose your pond in bird netting and keep out all of the birds as long as it stays closed hope this helps you have definitely helped me thanks so much

Rosey Barbs aren't hard to get in Trinidad, just gotta find the right PetShop or FishFarm....I've seen them maybe a month ago, very beautiful fish.

I'm sure Dexter appreciates your kind and thoughtful words. I, too, am a betta breeder and have been at it since 1964. What country do you hail from? I'm from the USA. There just isn't any money in breeding and raising betta splendens. When I first got started in the trade, I received about 20¢ per fish. Years later, I can't hardly give them to a fish store. I hope you are having better success than I do. Breeding and raising top quality bettas is just a hobby anymore. Take care, brother.

In Bangladesh, you will commonly get to see the silver Rosy Barb a lot in our rivers and ponds. Not the golden ones. The golden ones might be found in the Bay of Bengal.

I tried to breed my rosy barbs once. In a water container after leaving the pair for weeks. Only 1 fingerling remained hahaha
In bangladesh we have a type of barb that is silver but when light refracts it gives a beautiful tinted color red green etc. we eat that fish. lol.

I am planning on breeding barbs (mainly tiger barbs) in a method where I use a basket with the breeders and leave them in the tank for a few weeks or a month and move them and the basket to a new tank to deposit eggs in that tank and let the babies grow up in that tank and just put the breeders back in after I pull out and sell that batch of fry. I plan the tanks on being 8 feet by 4 feet or 6'×3' depending on the species.
My plan is so that I don't have to separate the breeders and can also get eggs constantly rather than cyclically like most I see do it. What do you rhink of this method??

Good healthy fish, you should show how to condition the fish for breeding using live foods? Is it oK to keep mles and females permanently seperated? What happens to a pregnant female if she doesn't have males for example? Will they spawn any way but no fry or will they absorb the eggs? Goldfish become sick right if they get egg bound.

There is another way on breeding barb sir that water plants are not needed and its super easy than the way you do
How do you do that with the water values. Do not fish all need different values for breeding.

I would add with my experience with cherry barbs that rain water has the correct acidity for eggs to hatch. They can spawn all day in a tank without rain water but the acidity of rain water is what allows them to hatch within 4 days. It isn't impossible for eggs to hatch in regular treated tap water but I find the number of fry is higher and their growth rate faster with rain water.
