I just love your grammar videos. I was wondering though, if you could make a "flyover" video about the basics of the language construction? Word and verb order, different tenses, genders, pronouns, etc. I have a head start learning languages since I speak German and took Latin years ago. While the individual topics you have posted are wonderful, I find myself still struggling with an overall sense of how Icelandic is different or similar to other languages.
Hæhæ, “Spáni”. Spanni þýðir að eitthvað spanni yfir ákveðið tímabil, eða yfir eitthvað tímabil. Svo að spanni væri helst notað í setningum eins og “over a long period of time” og “spanni” er þar “over” :)
could you do a video about the ways of expressing future, like when to use what and how they are different to each other? and plus the one about sá and þetta?
Hey! These are great! Thank you so much. I’m trying to learn Icelandic but i have hearing loss so it makes it difficult to hear the nuances in the language. Like I hear stræti as strekki. Your pronunciations and comparisons to English sounds help a lot. I think I read you’re from the US. what got you into learning the language? How long did it take you? Are you fluent? That’s all for now! ❤️Thanks again
Hi Megan, sorry for the late response. Yes, I am from the Western U.S. I have always been interested in languages but my experience living in Iceland from ages 19-21 was the first time I tried to learn a language thoroughly. Since then I've studied other languages, including Danish, French, and Arabic. I wouldn't say I'm fluent in Icelandic but I can converse on many topics without too much effort. Languages are a lifelong journey, as I'm sure you know. I'm glad you are enjoying the channel!
Sorry about that! Last week I started making one about body parts and then realized you had already written an article 😂 Let me know when you finish the sem article and I can post a link in the description if you want. Your articles are brilliant!
I like your lessons because you are a real teacher❤
Thank you, my friend!
Thanks so much! It's use is really close to how we use it in Swedish:
vad som helst = whatever,
vem som helst = whoever,
när som helst = whenever etc
Håller med : )
Amazing job Brian ;)) one of the best Icelandic chanel out here

Takk kærlega fyrir myndbandið þitt. Núna skil ég orðið “sem” og hvernig þarf ég að nota það. Kveðjur frá Spanni! 👋🏻
