  • For anyone who's ever lived with someone who suffers from mental health, or anyone who has mental health, I hope my story can encourage you to get the help you need. Growing up in an Italian home, with immigrant grandparents, mental health was considered a 'shame.' There was a stigma that if you suffered from anxiety or depression, you were 'crazy' and must not tell anyone about it. Meanwhile, many immigrant housewives suffered in silence as they experienced domestic violence and poverty. I grew angry feeling like my pain was something to be hidden. Finally....years later, I discovered strength in my story and healing in realizing it didn't need to be a secret. Special thanks to LiveCity, Mark Pragai, Jose Fernandez, FACTOR Canada, Slammin Media, and everyone involved in making this happen. I appreciate you all.

I am probably a lot older than you. We dealt twice with my fathers depression. First time was late 1970's. Always about money. Even though we probably had enough to by another house. Always in and out of Hospitals. And lots of drugs to cope
The second round was as a family told him .He had to stop working. He was around 70. Again depression hit him. Until he passed away in 2021 at 85 years old.

Difficult for family when a parent has a health issue like that. My dad was an alcoholic it put alot of strain on us.

I’m glad you’re all able to move forward from that environment. It’s bittersweet but it took courage and love for your dad to do what he had to do. I wish you all well and I hope your mom is able to find the help she needs 💜

Rosie, I loved it. I respect your dad for making the choice to make sure yall were safe.
A lot of people don't realize that men can be just as much a victim of abuse as women can. And mental issues aren't gender specific. I can't wait to hear the rest. Be brave, keep climbing.

Yesss! Men are very much also victims. Mental issues is unforgiving, and unbiased on its victims. Stay strong
